  1. Great report. Thanks for the trip report. Seeing all of those pictures makes me want to make another trip to WDW.
  2. Here's a pick from the Galveston tourism facebook page. www.facebook.com/visitgalvestonisland Another pic of Pleasure Pier.
  3. Can't wait to go. I will be there on May 12th for media day.
  4. I am happy I got my credit for it last year. It wasn't a bad ride. Too bad it's being scrapped and not sold.
  5. Another pic from their Facebook page. That's a whole lot of track in a very tiny space. Another angle of the Iron Shark.
  6. Here's the latest picture of Iron Shark from the Pleasure Pier Facebook page.. www.facebook.com/galvestonislandpier Latest pic of Iron Shark from the PLeasure Pier Facebook page.
  7. Thanks for the tips. I think I will definitely get a q-bot and flashpass. Especially for $15 at Dollywood. Barbecue definitely sounds like a winner. I did not know that Chick-Fil-A originated in Atlanta. We have them in Houston but seeing the original might be interesting.
  8. I am planning on making a little trip this Memorial Weekend. Saturday 5/26/12 Carowinds Sunday 5/27/12 Dollywood Monday 5/28/12 Lake Winnie/SFoG Looking for any tips on on what to do at each park. Also are there any must see attractions in each parks respective cities like must eat at restaurants or interesting tourist traps? I know there are a lot of crazy things to do near Dollywood, but it will be my first time at Carowinds and I haven't seen much of Charlotte except for the downtown area where I worked at First Union Bank as a software developer. Thanks for any advice. Plus feel free to join me on those days if your in the area.
  9. Currently I have: Six flags Over Texas Season Pass Universal Hollywood (It was the same price as a one day ticket) Going to get: Carowinds Platinum Pass ( I see several cedar fair park visits in my future) Seaworld San Antonio Platinum Pass (two years to get my money's worth)
  10. ^ I agree totally being a native Houstonian. We been trying to shake off the image that we are not a city full of cowboys with horses. We are an international city and home to mission control and the center for manned space flight. Also home to Compaq until HP bought them out. Even if it's horribly cheesy, we do need a major amusement park in the area. However, anyone planning a new park should really consider converting the old Astrodome into a year round air conditioned park. The heat is over bearing in the summer down here and people would pay just for the air conditioning. Plus it would be pretty much where old Astroworld was. The location is even serviced by Metro light rail.
  11. I finally sat through the whole video. It was pretty painful to watch. It seems like every picture they had shown was from some other park. Might be interesting to see how many parks can be identified in the video.
  12. Found a better link for the website. The site looks almost like a working park except they don't have a location for it yet. www.grandtexas.net/grandtexasthemepark.html It's a bit strange that they show a picture of El Toro for their wooden coaster.
  13. Anyone heard anything about this park. It's being developed in the woodlands area north of Houston, TX. I just stumbled upon it on an Astroworld fan site sixflagshouston.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3488. They have a facebook page: www.facebook.com/pages/Grand-Texas-Theme-Park/278986002170081 And a website: grandtx.com/ There is also an interesting YouTube video released about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpCgi1Fi7Lo
  14. Great trip report. Now I am inspired to go visit Europe someday.
  15. Looks like it's on track to open on Memorial weekend. At least according to this article: link to article
  16. From the closing of Six Flags Astroworld I got the following: 1 bolt from the dismantled Ggreezed Lightning 1 you must be this high to ride sign from the Viper Orginal artwork of the season pass booth Large poster art of the Bamboo shoot and Viper that was hanging in the Astroworld offic. A large box of admission tickets from the 90's
  17. I am definitely going. Never been to Canada's Wonderland. May have to just sign up for the Leviathan Trip since all those parks are new to me.
  18. Nice TR. I too need to make it to the mid west sometime. That's about the only area in the US that I have not traveled to so far.
  19. ^Same here. Monte was a great way to end off WCB. Reminded me of good old Greezed Lightning at Astroworld.
  20. Nice pictures. Need more of the scarlet witch and the nice purple haired one too.
  21. Nice photos. I was at Brian Head just 1 week after you were there. Wish I known about Cedar Breaks. I will definitely visit there the next time.
  22. Here's the best ones I have ridden so far Best Intamin 2nd gen Dungeon Drop (Astroworld) moved to SF St Louis as Superman Tower of Power. 227 ft tall. Best S&S Superman Tower of Power at SFoT 325 ft tall. Really tall and they run combination launch and drop cycles. That is they launch you first and then drag you to the top and drop you on the same ride. Plus the single ride line is great. Best Larson/ARM drop tower Kemah Boardwalk DropZone 140ft Tall It's not too tall but this one is definitely the most intense one. It like a 2nd gen Intamin but it give no warning when it will drop. It drops as soon as it hits the top. No pause, no alarm sound. The anticipation alone will drive you nuts. Best Gyro Drop Acrophobia SFoG 200FT Despite the uncomfortable seats, I found this ride to be quite unique because of its unusual tilt forward seating.
  23. I love the River Walk. I think that was the same Mariachi Band that played when I was there last time. Another great thing about the river walk is that The Alamo and the Tower of the Americas is within walking distance of it. Both great for some cultural credits. Glad you all had a great time in my home state.
  24. Big thank you to Robb, Elissa, SFMM, Kott's, and all who helped organize this great event. Had a ton of fun. Ending the night at Knott's with non stop Montezooma's revenge ride was great. Especially since TPR took over the ride for the last 5 runs. Singing "If your happy and you know clap your hands" prior to each launch was hilarious. The back stage tours were amazing . I definitely got my fill of X2, Tatsu, and Xcelorator rides.
  25. At the airport. Finally debugged that program at work. Now I am going t o Disneyland and wcb!
