  1. That's quite a launch. I personally don't like going over the top hat that fast, but the drop and airtime over it would be great. I can ride it many times per day crowds permitting. I've ridden it 62 times in one day with Mr. Xcelerator - Richard. That was a lot of fun.
  2. It's the Cedar Fair love of trim brakes . When they took over The Beast at Kings Island they put in 4 new sets of trims, even on the first downhill The said the ride was tearing itself up??? I'll bet these brakes are permanent on GR.
  3. I thought it's been cold here in South Florida this winter, but at least we haven't gotten snow -- yet!
  4. I totally agree! It looks like $hit and rides like it too on it's 10th birthday! HOORAY for Big Dick Kinzel taking care of business.
  5. Steve I totally agree with you on management leading the way. Years ago Cedar Point was a great park to visit. The lines moved, and the rideops seemed to like there jobs . That has taken a turn for the worse in recent years . I rank Cedar Fair park employees worse than 6 Flags employees for the past few years. I know that sounds crazy , but that's my observation. I travel all over the states for my job, and visit many Cedar Fair and 6 Flags parks. Cedar Point used to be my #1 park for years (I guess I'm biased after growing up there). Now they're my #3 behind Magic Mountain #1 and Great Adventure #2! Right now BGT doesn't even show up on the map for good experiences. Let's hope they get it together for Cheetah Hunt!!
  6. Well BGT didn't fail to disappoint again today. While I was there they were running 5 trains on Shiekra. Things were moving fine. I got back in line around 3 and they decided to let the Michigan football players use the elevator (handicap only) to jump the line. A few of the players tried using the quick queue line, and were turned back. They then went up the elevator to get to the front of the line. What makes them so special? I could see if they were Florida players (no not really). It just seems to be something everyday. No super high Cheetah track construction. They were using shorter crain to do some erection around Rhino Rally today.
  7. Busch Gardens Tampa -- unusual disregard for customers this evening Today I arrived at Busch after driving over from the east coast at about 3:30. It was quite cool (not their fault), but the park was quite empty for this time of the season especially with the bowls games. I did get many quick rides in which really surprised me. Here's my beef: I got back to Shiekra and they were running all 5 trains. I found that quite unusual since there weren't many people in line. In fact there really wasn't a line at all At 6:05, they decided to remove 3 of the 5 trains from operation. I can see pulling 1 or 2 but not 3! This whole operation took 25 minutes to complete. During that period no trains were dispatched with people on them. Needless to say, the line got big. I've never seen this "wholesale train off load" before, but with tonight's 2 train operation, they only loaded the back train and closed the entire front train loading bridges. This really screwed up the line and made it's movement very slow I don't understand why they'd go from a 5 train operation to a 2 train operation. There were at least 4 rideops in the control booth (overhead), so I don't think it was staffing issue. Sounds like they're taking lessons from Cedar Fair (Big Dick Kinzel especially) on how to "piss off the customer!" I waited from my last ride on Shiekra and headed back to the hotel. I had enough.
  8. The track was stored on the same road as the main parking lot entrance. It's just north of it towards the Embassy Suites, on the east side of the street. The ride construction progress has just been amazing! I'm heading up for a freezing visit on Monday for a few days. The cold is moving into Florida again. Where's Al Gore and global warming when you need them? I'm here in Tampa right now freezing my a$$ off! I left at 7PM frozen. The more specific answer to the track storage is the intersection of McKinley (road for the main parking entrance) and Bouganvillea. There is track there right now.

  10. I agree with your thoughts on "In-trim-adator 305". I'd rank it higher than "top 30," but it's not in my top 10 list . I didn't ride it pre-trims before it became "In-trim-adator", but the new restraints (softer) made it more ride-able. I prefer the Carowinds Intimidator (B&M) to the Virginia version. I guess my problem with the ride (Maverick as well at C.P) is the abrupt change of directions for no reason what so ever. That seems to be the element that Intamin features these days. Other than that, I feel I got a lot more airtime on the B&M.
  11. I'm in total agreement with the previous complaints on Maverick. I like to ride with my arms in the air and "be tossed" around by the ride. With those restraints, my neck get bruised quickly. I don't like to have to learn how to ride a coaster. I just like to enjoy it! It's the quick directional turns on it (and I305 for that matter) that are painful. This seems to be the latest Intamin trademark. Yes, the new restraints on In-trim-adator in Virginia would make Maverick better. I spend nearly 2 weeks at Cedar Point each year and maybe ride Maverick once
  12. You maybe right on the figure 8 being painful. I'll ride it at least once. As I said earlier in the thread, I'm not a big fan of some of the latest Intamin "creations." I guess we'll all know soon with all the progress on this ride.
  13. Thanks Robb, I've been waiting for this announcement to head back to the west coast! I'll see you there!!!
  14. I haven't been to SFOG in the past 3 years. It is my "home park" for my season pass, but I'm a mail in pass holder. Looks like it's time for a visit in 2011 ! I feel there B&M flyer - Superman is the best version of this ride. It the smoothest, or it was that way 3 years ago.
  15. Well, this GCI woodie needs some help. Have you ridden it recently? If nothing else Millennium Flyer trains. Gwazi is brutal!! I vote a BIG YES for the return of free beer To me that was the best
  16. That statement you made is regarding the park entry. The sentence and I'm quoting now: "A regular season parking pass (if purchased) is only valid at the park shown on the reverse side." In my case that's 6 Flags over Georgia. I no longer have my 2010 pass to see if it says that on the back. I hope it always said than and I'm worried about nothing. I really don't think that is the case.
  17. I've got a new 6 Flags question. I discovered it while at Magic Mountain, so I'll post it here. I've had a season pass with parking for many years now and loved it. I renewed my pass with SFOG (Atlanta) and included parking like usual. This year on the back of my pass it says parking if purchased is good only at the park listed on the other side. Is this true and will they enforce it in 2011??? I just came back from 4 days at "the Mountain" and didn't have a problem getting in for free. If they're going to enforce this change in policy, has there been any talk about a "system wide" parking pass?? This is really going to put a crimp in the coastering next season....
  18. Speaking of Mean Streak, I got quite a laugh a few years ago when "Big Dick" put up a big banner on it saying "rated one of the top 10 wood coasters." I guess maybe the top ten for pain.
  19. I'm going to miss the pre-show #2 right at the beginning. I'll miss the cleavage shot of Williams at the start of the show...
  20. Nothing like planting dead trees in the Sierra Twist area. That makes it look like it's been that way for awhile.
  21. I've got a question. Does anyone really know where Jay Thomas ended up? I went to the 6 Flags main website, and he's not listed there. I hope he's still with 6 Flags. He's a really great guy! I thought of him today with all the leaves blowing off the trees, and how fanatical he was regarding anything (leaves included) on the midway. I do miss him... That's a big loss for LA. It seems today they were having the supervisors visit "their rides." When I got to Riddler, the sup's came there an made a maintenance lady (quite attractive I might add) launch an empty train for no reason what so ever. It seemed like they were just stirring up trouble where ever they went today. I think they need to stay in their offices and let us ride.
