Nice pictures Steve -- thanks. Looks like this will be a different ride this season. Time will tell. -
Super Fun Boomers Photo TR!

I haven't ridden the hurricane in a few years. It was great in the front, which really surprised me. Do they still have an all you can ride special on the hurricane? That Chick-fil-A is near my home in Pompano. I recognize the sign and I can see the Goodyear on Copans. -

Great pictures! Too bad Cedar Fair neutered the Beast several years ago with all the new trims that ruin it's pacing. I love their (K.I.) Intimadator much more than the Virginia (Kings Dominion) In-trim-adator We'll see what In-trim-adator is like this year with the re-profiling. I'm sure I'll still like this B&M version better. -
I actually approached the park about this too. The response was: They are confident that if you pony up the cash, they will deliver a top notch event! If Jay Thomas was still there and in charge, I'd believe that statement. With this new regime in place, I'm skeptical. Why? How much time has the new band been together to make you feel strongly one way or the other? Jay left this past fall I think. You could always see him anywhere in the park on any day smiling, laughing and speaking with his customers. The park has changed significantly since then and not for the better. I've been at the past several WCB's and the ERT included all rides! That's a tremendous commitment to us if nothing else in staffing costs. I've been to the park this year 3 times and tomorrow will make 4. Things are not equal to or better than last season.

I'm just disappointed that the normal WCB shirt is $10 more on top of the $53. $63. for a day at the park is getting expensive!

I see the prices are posted for WCB. The Mountain must really be putting it to Robb this year! $53. without a shirt. I guess 6 Flags is really trying to cash in on this one. All I can say is Coastermania at Cedar Point has always been free if you have a season pass. They haven't posted pricing yet for 2011 only the dates. I still love the Mountain, but they're starting rape us enthusiasts.

On another subject at the Mountain. They've now removed the live camera and monitor from the 3rd pre-stage room on "Pocky " (aka: Apocalypse) before you go up the stairs. That seems odd to me??? Also if you look to right going up the lift hill on Pocky, you'll see a statue that appeared this past week. All you can see is the back of the statue. It looks like it's a man and a woman. It's strange but I think you can see the man's butt cheeks. I'm not sure where this is going - Superman or Green Lantern.

Wow, I just got back from the Mountain, and wanted to be the first to post about Superman testing. I can't believe there's already 4 pages of this discussion. I saw (and heard) the first test going up the hill on Goliath. It does seem a little quieter than the old trains were. You can definitely hear when it's running. The countdown is on to March 19.

Its most likely due to something on that car that malfunctioned(ie.. seatbelt malfunctioning, lap bar keeps sticking, etc.) and most likely will be( already has been) fixed once the park closes. So nothing really too much to worry about, unless this has been happening before? Funny you should mention that. While there last Sunday, the ride operators where having troubles releasing the bars for the front of the train for the newly refurbished red train. Was the purple one the only one operating then? No this was the new red train today - Friday. The purple one is off on the maintenance track, and it doesn't look like it could run without some work on it.

I'll bet it'll carry into the weekend.

Just a heads up for folks thinking of going to KBF. I was there today for 4 hours and enjoyed it. If you're an Xcelerator fan beware, it's still only 1 train operation and they've blocked off 1 entire car = 4 seats! That's a significant reduction of passengers for this ride. Read -- long wait times...

Well, I'm going to post something positive about my M.M. visit today. Everyone seems so down and I agree with many of the points. My normal rotation for rides is to start at Tatsu and circle the park clockwise. I entered via the Discover entrance at 10:20. That is a great perk! When I found Tatsu was closed I hiked down to Pocky (aka Apocalypse) and was the first one in the queue. They didn't open the door to prestage 1 for me for several minutes. I was forced (with now 4 other people) to watch 1 & 2. I hate the new videos -- too many guys and no babes. I was able to walk right up the steps without stopping to see video #3 and get on the train. I had 7 consecutive rides in the rear of the train without getting off. I did see Robb there and said hello but didn't get a response. My feelings are hurt - just kidding. I got back into the queue and watched all 3 this time, and then had 9 consecutive rides without getting off again. On days like this you just need to be flexible with your rides. I never got back to Tatsu (glad I didn't), rode all the rides I like (Riddler - single rider line, Colossus, Scream, Goliath), and ended up with 47 for the day The nonstop rides on Goliath were amazing. No lines just fun I agree things weren't like they were during the Jay Thomas days (I don't think Shapiro had that much to do with MM operations), but I had one of my better riding days at the Mountain today Things do need to improve especially for the kiddies. This is early in the season, so let's be optimistic and hopefully things will get better. I guess just call me a dreamer.

What is your local park?
coasternut replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though I live in South Florida, now (according to my 6 Flags Season Pass) my home park is Magic Mountain. I have both a 6 Flags season pass and Cedar Fair (Carowinds) season pass. -
Yes, I did ride Apocalypse 7 times today. The ride is the same including the fire component. All the signs have been changed and the 3 pre-stage shows are totally different. The 3 terminator's are gone in room 3. The mounts are still there, but nothing else. All the employees are different too. Previous visits I saw many of the same rideops, but not today. Just may be coincidence, but I don't think so. I already miss Termie!

This has always been the policy if I'm correct that the values of the XTREME pass only work at the park on the front. I remember seeing this on my pass a couple years ago when I went to Great Adventure. -Cookie I've never had a Magic Mountain pass before today. I've always had a 6 Flags Over Georgia pass with parking and it was honored at EVERY 6 FLAGS PARK (except for Kentucky since they didn't own the parking lot). I never paid for parking until today.

Well, today was my first visit to Magic Mountain. There's good news and bad news here. I'm not a local (South Florida) so my season pass / parking is from 6 Flags Over Georgia (the closest park to me). My first encounter with some BAD CHANGES was trying to use my season pass parking. "Effective this week" the new policy is season pass parking is only valid for the park of your season pass. For me that's a bummer... This is a new corporate policy for 2011. It's spelled out on the back of your season pass card. I had to shell out $15 to park and later in the day stopped a Guest Relations for a complete explanation and resolution. More on this later. Apocalypse - Signage changes, and a new video. I liked Termie's video better. Also in the 3rd pre-stage room all 3 terminators have been removed. Looks weird!!! The live camera still works. The ride is still great! Thanks GCII!! I think they got rid of all the Terminator's rideops. I only recognized 1 employee from the "Termie days" of last season. The best restaurant in the park in my opinion is gone - Texas Barbecue outside of Riddler. Even employees didn't know it was gone even the ones in guest relations. Now I don't have a place to eat lunch while at the park. Riddler still has only 1 train. The rehabbed train isn't back yet. Scream was running only 1 train. Guest Relations did come up with a good resolution to my season parking dilemma. I told them I haven't been to SFOG in over 3 years that I've had my season pass from. I've been to "the Mountain" an average of 17 times per year. They offered to exchange my Georgia pass for a Magic Mountain pass for free. They tried to refund my parking for today, but it wasn't working for some reason. I told them I'll be back Sunday and can get my refund then. I guess the big change for all season pass holders is: BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR PARKING AT OTHER LOCATIONS OTHER THAN YOUR HOME PARK. I even asked to purchase a parking only pass (which for me would be helpful), but they said this isn't possible. I really feel this is something 6 Flags should consider for sale with this new parking policy. All things considered, I had a good visit. I really wish Jay Thomas was still there. This parking only pass would be a good source of revenue for them.
