At some point next year I think a Cedar Point visit is in order. I pulled up their site last night, holy coasters batman. Magic Mountain is better by far! If you've not been to C.P. then by all means go, but have low expectations... Take it from someone that is from the area, and enjoyed the park in it's prime. Now it really bad from upkeep, ride-op attitudes, condition of the rides.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

^ Ahh, "Breaking Wind" at the Cedar Point! Good Bye Big Dick, may you soon rest in peace! -
I think possibly BGT was trying to recreate the way a Cheetah stalks it's prey. You know, sneaking up slowly and then the chase. Looks like a great addition to their lineup. I'm glad it's not too fast, so I may like it with those restraints (unlike Maverick). I can't wait for it to open and ride it for myself. I think they should release the cub and hound to chase the trains. I'll be at BGW on Sunday to play. Just making my early season rounds.

PHOTO TR: Cedarpoint opening day 2011
coasternut replied to thrillrider's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm originally from Cleveland (don't hold that against me), and USED TO love Cedar Point. It WAS the best park anywhere bar none! Management has passed it's prime and so has this park. It's definitely time for a change for improvement.. At least I see they finally painted Millennium Force a year after it's 10th anniversary. Good timing Big Dick!!! -
I kinda disagree actually, I think the ride is fine as it is. If anything, GhostRider or Grizzly at CGA need the Texas Giant treatment more than Colossus right now :/ Colossus is running great (both sides), since it's rehab earlier this year. It's good, the way it is. Ghostrider at Knotts is another story.

That's what Cedar Point needs -- another wiener around there! -
I know that, but you can see it from the sky tower at least, and also on the initial drop on Riddler. I'm not saying take a camera on Riddler (that's dangerous on that ride / and prohibited), but if not pictures some commentary would be nice. I just looked and their facebook pictures are from last week. with no track construction, only vertical beams.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Only at real busy times will they assign seats. They think it speeds up the process. Most of the time (I was there in Mid July), you could pick your own seat. Maybe I should've worded that better. -
Dania Beach Hurricane Declares Bankruptcy
coasternut replied to digidoc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had to stop at the Hurricane today, to pay my last respects. As I said in a previous post, it was my #9 Woodie. That's a pretty good Woodie for an old man like me! The "coaster god's" were even crying today when I arrived. It started to rain as I got out of my car to see first hand. The ride didn't have any of it's torn flags on it anymore, the gate was chained with no sign of life beyond it. They had a sign on the gate that said "temporarily down for maintenance. I spoke with the lady behind the counter (inside Boomers) and she said yes, it's closed and didn't know any more than we do right now. She said to periodically call to see it's status. At least that was something... I hope I'm wrong but for now it looks like goodbye old friend... -
Dania Beach Hurricane Declares Bankruptcy

This is a BIG BIG LOSS for all of us. I'd see it from the airport each week, as I fly out for the week. I live here and only visited Boomers 1 time. I'm ashamed to admit that. I rode it that day 10 times and loved it every time! It was (and still is) my #9 in my top 10 of woodies. I hate hearing of a loss of wood in the morning. I was thinking of going this Sunday since my time in So. Cal is over and I need a "coaster fix." -
Six Flags raises parking fees.
coasternut replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's unbelievable! First the free parking only at the home park (with season pass parking), and now this price increase as the season begins. Yes, I'd pay more for a season pass that would include parking for all parks. I visit a lot of parks during the year, so for me that would be best. I do think that the season pass prices are too low. They (6 Flags) should adjust those to make more money. They are a lot less than Cedar Fair, but they include parking everywhere (for now). -
Here's how I think of it: TTD>S:EFK>Kingda Ka Top Thrill Dragster still reins supreme, but I think Superman: Escape From Kryton is a Major Improvement. I almost like it more than Goliath. Almost. I agree with almost everything you've said here. You forgot Xcelerator. I've ridden all of these rides many many times , especially Xcelerator. I rank Xcelerator right behind TTD. TTD>Xcelerator>S:EFK>Kingda Krap.
