Rush at Thorpe Park now testing
kenshinmac replied to nemesis-storm's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That can't be running near full speed. I think it is a wear in type thing. Just trying to test all the basic systems and check that they are all working properly. I can't help but think it would be a rush being in the seats closest to the edge. I mean just imagine seeing the other swing rushing towards you then whoosh as the air passes by. Man that sounds fun... I kinda thought the ride would be taller though... -
Silly question but where do you get ToyBox albums...
kenshinmac replied to kenshinmac's topic in Ask Alvey
No... I don't want to do that... -
This just isn't fair... I've looked all over the place and all I can find are like used albums and I can't find any place that I really trust. Any help would be appreciated and decent prices are even better. Preferably reputable stores because I am kinda careful about where I shop online.

Thanks Robb. I'll look forward to some info post-E3. I'm kinda hoping that the PS2 version will live up to the screens I have seen. I'm really glad to see that this one is being trusted to a team with some prior CoD experience. Congratulate the people working with you though because those shots are just absolutely incredible. I'll try to look out for a copy of that GameInformer. BTW do you hang out in any game boards? Just curious because it was a blast on IGN discussing God of War with David Jaffe.

Project Tumble Weed?

More to the point what could fit in the space of the Escalator Ride... Really... 4d needs a bit of help in general. Kinda a funky idea... -
Can you at least say if he is in the studio responsible? If that last post wasn't an answer... Not asking for any details... Just kinda curious. That game looks amazing so far... I only have one WW2 game BiA but this one might get a purchase from me.

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/609/609567p1.html Call of Duty: The Big Red One for consoles. Guess you don't have to comment but I'm just curious. It wouldn't really be giving too much away... I guess I am just curious after reading the two studios were merged. It is very possible I missed something before...

Italian job review
kenshinmac replied to thrillrider1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The ride still looks the same as it always did to me. Cheap, low capacity, no thrills, crap effects... Sadly enough they probably spent plenty on these... I don't know what they were thinking. I mean paramount really could have picked a better movie. -

Queue-jumping for dollars
kenshinmac replied to shepp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Um anyone know what happened with the class action lawsuit against six flags over the Q-bot? I honestly don't really feel a whole lot of animosity towards the normal fastpass type system mainly because it is open to everyone. The Q-bot is a bit of a different situation. I honestly feel that if they treated it like a singles line I would be ok but seeing someone just walk up with one of those things after you were waiting for an hour or more kinda rubs you the wrong way. Especially if they happen to hop in the seat you were waiting for... -
Coasters In Need Of Paint
kenshinmac replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well I haven't been past it recently but Twister 2 at Elitches sat all of last year with a newly replaced first turn... Unpainted... That was an eyesore. Good ride but that turn looked terrible. Wow crazy weird bug with the boards there... -
Waterparks Discussion
kenshinmac replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally I'm partial to WaterWorld in Denver. Not only because it is the closest decent sized waterpark to me but it has good food, fun rides, and is just a nice place to go. Beyond all that how many waterparks have dark rides with little animatronics. They also have a little gondola ride between the middle area of the park and the bottom. Personally my favorite ride is probably still Voyage to the Center of the Earth. It was build way back in like 1995 or so and it is still one of my favorite water rides. I mean where else do you get to sit inside a long tunnel going through slow sections between flumes for about 5 minutes. Too bad the line is often just horrific. Heck it is often worse than the bowl rides down at the funhouse area at the bottom of the park. Anyone who hasn't gone will probably enjoy it. There are some rides that aren't exactly in their prime and a few things that do need attention but it is a fun park and a great experience in general. -
Insanity - Incident

People are pathetic... Granted it didn't go perfectly but no one was hurt and seriously things will happen. People are too damn ready too sue in this country. Hell if anything they should just settle for the price of counseling. I just don't know what people think these days. I mean you can't sue everyone under the sun everytime something small goes wrong. -
DL's Sub Lagoon is being drained ...
kenshinmac replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well we know something is happening then... Hopefully it won't be the pave and kiddy playground the WDW Magic kingdom has suffered... I am seriously hopeful that the Finding Nemo thing does happen. Rumors seem to suggest it will... -
OMG... Has anyone played Silent Hill 3... Does that first park just scream silent hill or what? Yikes... Seriously to think that stuff like that really exists just kinda makes my skin crawl. BTW if you haven't played any of the Silent Hill games try them out. They will seriously mess with your mind. Especially if you are alone.

No Limits Help
kenshinmac replied to Morcar's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
http://www.nolimitscoaster.com/ Far as I know that is the only place to get No Limits. Try out the demo to get an idea of how the building works. It shouldn't be too bad for you with the exchange rates at what they are... -
I would aim for a Radeon 9800. Good value vs performance. However we need to know your processor speed to know if it will help a lot. RCT3 is heavily CPU bound because of that AI of the people. I think I have an Athalon 2600 and it still will drop to around 5-6 fps with around 1000 people and a decent number of rides on screen. The 9800 however runs the Half Life 2 demo perfectly on the same computer... I need to get HL2 at some point... Heck I need to get No Limits at some point...

Hey guys I noticed a little note on RCDB about Gauntlet : Anyone know anything about that? Any comments on it? Seriously thought it looks like the park has a hell of a wood coaster and the other stuff isn't that bad... -
Worst Coaster Ever?
kenshinmac replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ouch the volares are taking a beating... Personally I don't think they are that bad they just made a few poor design choices IMHO. First there should be some padding in the chest area to keep people a little more comfortable. (yes as a guy I am complaining...) Second instead of the rolling sections they should have put in dives. Third put up a warning to people not to climb in so that the restraints are pushing on their shoulders... (never do this on a volare... Always make sure you are slightly loose. You are fine if you are at a position where on your tippy toes your shoulders touch the restraints. If you are pushing against them you will hate the ride) Thats about it IMHO. The corners are pretty intense but as long as you aren't looking around too much it doesn't hurt. Kinda like a launch on launch rides. The whole thing is a bit disorienting but hey it can still be fun. BTW do any of the other volares run their belt on the loading platform? I only remember that working once (when I was there) at Elitches and ever since it has just been stationary. It is actually easier to get on when it is stationary anyway though... Yep I'm defending the Volare because hell the Boomerang at Elitches has caused me more grief than the little flying coaster... I mean like serious serious pain from the Boomerang. First my shoulders are not happy in that restraint and second the ride somehow manages to bash you on everysingle part of the track other than the cable lift. Yep the chain lift actually throttles the car about too. The train actually jolts 3 times on the chain lift... That is terrible... -
Theme Park Review Shirts Are Coming!

Can you put me down as a not sure at XL?.. Really it depends simply on color and price... and shipping of course. -
I think HW has hit that point where they either have to choose to try and become a destination park or cut down on their building. I think it is fairly clear what they seem to have chosen and they really need to go after it. Satisfying just the locals and coaster enthusiasts won't do it. Hopefully they will be careful in what they add. I think they don't have the budget to go with something from B&M but maybe a small intamin might work. Anyway it will be interesting. It is possible that it will be another wooden coaster but for some reason the GP seems to be down on wooden coasters and prefer essentially forceless steels...

Insanity - Incident
kenshinmac replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Um is it just me or does it seem strange that the ride just shuts down instead of retracting itself? I mean wouldn't you think the forces would be worse if the arm remained out? I guess it seems like kinda goofy logic to me. I mean there is a tiny potential that things could get worse if the wind was extremely high but in most cases just retracting the arm so that the riders could disembark would seem a better move to me rather than a straight shut down. -
They're speed holes... They make the train go faster... I wonder how many people will know the reference.
-
Real I'm just kinda curious on the logic here. The dollar hasn't been worth 1 pound for ages if ever. Sure the pound is worth more now than it used to be but I mean it has always been like $1.20 or more. I don't really understand what you are trying to say. 1,000 pounds is 1,000 pounds you can't compare it to dollars or anything like that.
