  1. Dude that pic is freaking me out... Especially the fact that it looks like he pissed himself... Scary stuff...
  2. Yeah you need the mac version of the game... You can't just take a PC game and run it on a Mac. It would be like trying to run a X-box game on a PS2... Of course if you have an Intel based Mac then you can get a copy of Windows and then put on Bootcamp and run Windows and use PC games... Sorry that just confuses everything but it only works on Intel macs which are very new. Plus the cost of RCT3 is $50 while a Windows license costs $200-$300 depending on which version you buy.
  3. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is available for OSX... But there are no coaster games that are free...
  4. After some messing around I created a pretty fun little coaster... I have Soaked! and Wild! but hopefully it will run on others copies of the game... I'll post some pics and stuff in a bit. They are on my PC and I'm posting this as I'm compressing a video of the view around the ride which I can post if anyone is interested. I call it RuinRunner and it has only one change to the terrain... I have a small drop out of the station before it hits the lift hill. It uses a launched lift to give it a little extra oomph since at 140ft you don't get too much speed through the large loops which I wanted to use extensively. Otherwise it keeps a high speed throughout the whole layout then hits the brakes after zooming around the ruins of a fort and some native villages. Oh yeah I don't believe in custom anything so far because it breaks compatibility with standard installations... The pics are a little on the large size so I might shrink them a bit later. 5. I would love a "Random Videos of TPR" video podcast... I would subscribe to that in a second. I think that would be an ideal promotion for the site and for your dvds... Definitely consider some H.264 videos though as they are much better quality for the bitrate compared to MPEG4.
  6. Ugh... If they freaking make it a Simpsons ride I will be sick. The Simpsons are pathetically past it. The show is at least 5 years past funny and has maybe 2 good episodes a season now... How about a Groening show that just got picked up by a new network... I am talking of course about Futurama... I mean what better ride to fit the current ride vehicles and everything... It would be perfect. It won't happen because for some reason Fox keeps messing up tons of great shows... Oh well... Guess I will just console myself with the fact that there will be new episodes of Futurama... Sadly it looks like Serenity won't be as lucky...
  7. If you create something in Soaked! in sandbox mode I know it breaks compatibility with the standard RCT3... I don't know if that is the case with Wild! as I haven't tested it. However if you were to make a scenario it would ensure that the proper amount of space was already set in the map and would also ensure that people only used the proper ride and nothing else. Most of the rants have been in general about the competitions we have had around here recently. You may not know it but there was a really good competition around here early in this boards history but due to problems Robb actually all out banned competitions. It seems that he isn't really worried about them now but I don't really think the way that the way that this topic was put was very friendly. I also don't want Robb to crack down on competitions again due to people getting upset with one another. I think the minimum anyone setting up a contest should do though is to provide a pre-configured scenario so everyone is starting at the same place instead of saying go build... Oh and on the spelling thing, it is actually in the rules of these boards and is often brought up on the other boards. I think it is such a simple thing everyone should have a spell checker in their browser just to help understandability. It takes minutes to download and install on the two most used browsers. Just use Google Toolbar and you can easily spot any spelling errors before posting.
  8. Why do people always do this sign up crap now? Just open the freaking contest and let people do their thing. That way you aren't waiting forever to start just because people aren't signing up. Just put up a pic of the land and give us the details and let us go. If there was anything to kill the excitement it is having to wait. Plus if you create the scenario right it should be possible for people just to build. Just make sure everything is set properly with the inventions setup and people can't use the wrong coaster type and so on. Oh and please go through that first post with a spell checker... It is just painful.
  9. The last thing we need is competing contests... Oh and please get a spell checker... Everyone should have one... (Google toolbar for Firefox or IE) Honestly I don't think this is a good idea so I would at least edit the title of the contest so it isn't so obviously going against the other one. It should be an individuals choice which they enter based on what they like and you shouldn't be promoting yours as superior IMHO.
  10. umm, i think that is a bit unfair because all i have is MS paint, while other people have photoshop to work with. There are two great programs I would suggest you check out that are completely free and very feature packed. GIMP: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ The above link is great for Windows installers. Just make sure that you install the GTK before installing GIMP. Both installers are on the site and it is really easy to do. It should give you everything you need from Photoshop and it has no restrictions on use. Inkscape: http://www.inkscape.org/ Inkscape is a very good open-source vector drawing program. It will give you a lot of power if you spend the time to get acquainted. There is a fully packaged exe installer for the program on the website... So there you go. No reason to feel worried about the competition.
  11. Ok first... Please Please Please... GET A FREAKING SPELL CHECKER... Either Google toolbar for Firefox or IE will give you the feature or grab the Firefox 2b1 which also has the feature but make sure you grab the version for your OS and the right language (US English is en-us). Also custom logos are only possible with a HUGE patch that some can't really download if they are on dialup or they have to use Wild! Also you can't just turn off Wild! stuff. It may or may not make incompatible files so one can't always be sure. No one is gonna re-install just to do this.
  12. Guys this thread is from over a year ago... The creator probably has very little interest in the ride anymore. For some reason LOVE SFKK bumped several threads from last year all the way up to the top page mostly to insult the creators... Thats not really useful IMHO.
  13. Honestly I think you are trying to go too complex with the signs. Personally I prefer a less is more kinda approach. I think that styled text is all you need in most cases and unless you are spending hours crafting a design for the rest of it you aren't going to come up with something that is going to really show off the rest of the ride. Try messing with some vector graphics programs and you might be able to make some cool looking text signs. I personally think that would be more fitting. If you need a program to play with try Inkscape which is a free open source program and you can mess around a bit.
  14. I know... Its the first flying coaster with a near 90° drop angle... OMG!!! Sorry... Someone had to throw in the usual over hyped response...
  15. ATI doesn't tell us anything... ATI makes some crap video cards and some great ones... Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is a really tough game on a computer. They made the AI for peeps significantly more complex than previous games and they also have to deal with the 3d drawing. That is a lot of computation and most of it can't really be shortcutted like they can in 2d. Honestly with some tweaks most people can get at least decent performance out of the game.
  16. Basically it would often take a 6.5 or higher to get any real damage... Of course there are numerous variables in the damage. The Richter Scale is kinda difficult to understand because it is an exponential scale and if you haven't encountered that in math it is very hard to describe. Just know that every time you go up a full number in the Richter Scale is a HUGE difference in power.
  17. You tell the truth absolutely... A magnitude 5 would only knock down a coaster that was never attached to the ground to start with... It is kinda hard for people that never lived in a quake state to understand how the scale works. Seriously no major damage happens in a magnitude 5 earthquake unless you are starting with seriously slapdash construction.
  18. There have been a number of FAQs on peeps behaviour and this is one of the more frustrating ones. Peeps seem to get lost if you have paths that dip in towards the exit without continuing towards the exit. So try to only have paths move towards the exit if they actually go to the exit.
  19. It just depends on the coaster type. There are a few coasters without any special elements and there are some with absolutely tons. The extended coaster in Wild! has dozens of elements and gives you an immense amount of flexibility in design.
  20. I believe that screenshots go in the MyPictures folder of the current user. You might be able to use the John D Rockefeller cheat... Just rename a guest to John D Rockefeller and you get 10,000 in the full game. Dunno if it works in the demo.
  21. OMG please please fix those holes in the ground... There are numerous tools to smooth that kind of thing out. Otherwise it looks pretty decent but it isn't really that thrilling and the height of the hills suddenly changes at the turnaround.
  22. Definitely try to track down RCT3 GOLD though... Soaked was a lot of fun
  23. They fixed a lot of stuff with the final release and cleaned things up a decent amount. Make sure to patch it up though. Also consider that you can usually get RCT3 Gold for the same price as the basic one now. It includes the waterpark expansion Soaked! as well and is well worth the price of admission. RCT3 isn't as straight forward as the previous ones but it adds enough to make it well worth the extra time required. The only real problem I have is that building is much harder since you now need to consider the inside and outside of every ride.
  24. Yeah bitmaps are your problem... Compress them to a JPEG... Then you will be a fraction of the size.
  25. What style of coaster is that anyway? I am just wondering because it looks like a Extended or something but that won't do a reverse incline.
