  1. ^ I am glad to hear Voyage is still running great this season. It certainly is a lot bettter than my first rides two years ago. When we visited opening weekend a few weeks ago, we were all really impressed with it.
  2. Very cool. I too thought that they did a really good job with the Meteor.
  3. Great report so far! Just a couple more months until the TPR Texas trip.
  4. That was the name of the place we ate at. Yeah, it was pretty good.
  5. Wow, this certainly gives the play structure over at Aquatica a real run for its money. Impressive.
  6. I was lucky enough to visit Astroworld back in its hayday in 1978. Even though I was only 5 years old I still have vivid memories of this park. While the only coaster I was able to ride was The Serpent, I was able to ride several of the classics such as the Alpine Sleighs, River of No Return, Bamboo Chute, The Astrowheel, and so on and so forth. I do remember standing to simply watch Greezed Lighnin' do its thing as well as Dexter Freebish (It really looked bigger than a mine train to a 5 year old).
  7. They are VERY STRICT with loose items, this includes items that are in your pockets. They however have free lockers/cubbies for most of the rides. You can just give them to the ride operators before the next train arrvies in the station. It really is not much of a hassle at all.
  8. We found the best place to eat is the restaurant right across from Gobbler Getaway. The food is quite good and the prices are reasonable. As for coasters, the first bench of the last car on Raven is my favorite seat. As for Voyage, you do get some nice air in the back car, but I think I do prefer the very front row. The same goes for Legend. Legend is more of a lateral rather than an airtime machine. You do get very wet on the rapids and Plunge. I never ridden the log ride, so I am not really sure about that one.
  9. The video started to stream instantly for me, it took just a little over a minute for it to download. My problem, as with anything else that I try watching in HD, is that while the video is running I only get about 10 frames a second so the image tends to stutter a lot. I think that is more my problem since my computer is several years old and can not handle HD videos very well.
  10. Do not take this personally, but I do not think we need this topic with its own thread. Also please be a bit more descriptive whenever you do create a new topic. I would recommend reading this before posting again: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31454 If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM.
  11. There are quite a few deals going on at all the Orlando parks for Florida residents now. I think they were just posted about a week or two ago.
  12. Have you ever tried motion sickness medicine? It works wonders for me.
  13. Wow, that looks great. Great theming as well.
  14. Oh well, it looks like that I will miss out on this one.
  15. Thanks for posting this, please post more in the future because these are a lot of fun. Now I know what Express/Rock n Roller Coaster looks like from the side now!
  16. That is probably true. Unless someone gives me money.
  17. We stayed right near Kings Island the whole time (5 miles away). Holiday World is a bit of a drive from here (around 3 hours one way), but we felt it was easier to just have one hotel as our base. We also wanted to be some what close to the airport in Dayton, since its much cheaper to fly into there. Plus all the hotel rates were very very high around Louisville since the Kentucky Derby going on the same weekend. It would probably be better to find a hotel around Louisville if you can after visiting KI. Lousiville is only 1 hour away from Holiday World, plus you have SFKK nearby as well as a 2 hour drive to Bowling Green for Beech Bend.
  18. YAY! I finally got around to watching this one. I guess I need to buy a hoodie sometime. That was awesome.
  19. I love the photos of Guy's cape, err poncho, while on Pilgrim's Plunge. Oh by the way, that was Pat Koch that came over and talked with us during lunch.
  20. I should state for the record that for some reason I get really dizzy riding Boomerangs/Invertigos during the backwards part. That is why I usually end up cringing onto dear life while I ride (Endure it for the credit). Anyone who has sits next to me on these rides can and will be a witness to this. I sure hope there are less of these type of rides on the Texas trip when compared to the Behemoth/East Coast trip from last year.
  21. I thought it was really fun! It is a solid ride for the family. The ride just opened a couple of days ago and it is quite amazing how fast that they were able to get it built. They did have it open for opening day, which was promised. This area was originally a basic field, so that is why there isn't any trees or foliage in the area yet. I think they will add some landscaping around the first section of the ride when the time comes. I think its better not to have a tunnel in the first section because everyone will be wanting to watch the lift. The drop is not too intense because its not as steep as some other water rides. The splash may not be huge when compared to other splashdown rides, but I think its is larger than a standard long flume. Well, it is certainly bigger when compared to Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom. If I was to build a tunnel for the ride, I would do it around the final bend back into the station because that section does move at a very slow speed. Maybe have some Pilgrims in the tunnel welcome you back from your journey. You can see my pictures here if interested: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50492&start=10
  22. Oh let us head on over to Pilgrim's Plunge, shall we? As for the ride itself, we thought it was fun. It is a solid ride for the family. Maybe have some Pilgrims in the tunnel welcome you back from your journey. I am going to do one final update later, but feel free to add comments now. More riders, including myself. Opening soon. Back into the station they go. You guys have fun? I think I counted 5 boats on the ride. The slow return sail back to the station begins here. With a full boat of people, everyone gets quite wet. They are off! They are now getting ready for the plunge. They are now passing by the other lift. The lift is really cool. The boat is now locking in the elevator. I think its better not to have a tunnel here so you can see the tower. I am sure they will add some plants at a later date. The boats move quite fast in this area. Off they go! The boats continue to move while you board. Looks like a full boat of riders. Here is a closer look. See how big it is? We were all very impressed with the size of this fan. I am sure this will be full of park guests in the months to come. How many rides are you able to ride barefoot? Ride Rules. Let us check out the queue building. They also get to use this tunnel while walking over to the ride. This is the walkway over to the waterpark. Which is seperated from the rest of the area. You can enter the ride from either Splashin' Safari or Holiday World. Just a few days before our visit this was not finished yet. It is looking good so far. The splash is actually bigger than you think, especially since these are smaller boats. While it is tall, the actual drop is not too intense, which is perfect for a family ride. They really built this area up really quickly. We are walking over to the new area. Pilgrim's Plunge, the new ride at Holiday World just opened up. Without a poncho, you can get really wet on the ride.
