My brother and I waited 10.5 hours for *gasp I know...* Son of Beast in 2000. We were in line when the park opened, and they were testing it, then the rain started. We weren't even in the official line, just lined up in action zone behind the entrance. To pass the time, we taught ourselves to juggle with the help of another guy in line waiting. After the rain stopped, they tested it with empty trains for another hour and let us in line. Then the lift hill had some sort of problem and we waited it out some more (noone had been on it that day yet, and it was already 7:00pm. Finally around 8:30 my brother and I got on our ride. After it finally opened we had a 5 minute wait for the front seat. When we got off the ride, Guest relations was at the exit with free on-ride photos and free soft drinks for those of us who waited so long. If we hadn't been season pass holders I would have never done it, and in hind sight, the ride was so rough that we were pretty dissapointed. -James Dillaman

Scream On Scream Photoshop Contest!

^ I was thinking that, too. Chris Hansen was my favorite. Oh Well, guess the otherkin one is second in my mind, I'll vote for that... -James Dillaman -
^^ Since when is Coney Island Ohio of any interest to people besides locals, they even advertise it as just being a cheap alternative to KI, with family rides and "one giant pool". It isn't like anybody drives 3 hours to Cincy to go to Coney Island... That being said, this will be a good addition. If they get a couple water slides, they can tap into the locals market currently dominated by the Beach waterpark. -James Dillaman

^ No I enjoy wearing them to themeparks, as I can actually ride the water rides without fear of the dreaded "trench foot" syndrome coming from wet shoes and socks. I can sort of understand where you're coming from, but it isn't nearly as annoying as any of the other items that are being listed... -James Dillaman

Smoking in line is just awful. Seriously, smoke before you get in line, and then wait until you're off, it isn't that hard!! I hate people who don't follow instructions at all. i.e. when the ride ops are spieling "be sure and fasten your seat belt before pulling down on your lapbar" and then idiots just sit and pull down the lapbar, holding up the entire train. I also don't like when there isn't enough food-staff during lunch and dinner times. Seriously, when you only have one window open at a food place, not utilizing the other 6 or so when there's a half-hour wait for a $15 meal, it's not acceptable!! Fright Fest Mazes where they don't seperate you in groups... When you go through in one continuous line it just isn't worth it at all! -James Dillaman

New York City buys Wonder Wheel Site
jamesdillaman replied to spaceace12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Keep the cyclone and wonder wheel, and of course the Nathan's Hot Dog stand, but everything else there can go to crap for all I care. I'd love to see some sort of museum or pictorial history of coney island somewhere, sort of a memorial to the past parks and such... -James Dillaman -

^ I think we'll have to wait until next month for our fly-over, JZ, as the cessna pilot is not cheap and I just had to buy new tires... *groan* We'll do it, though, besides it might be better the more track work that's done on Diamondback. -

^ If you read the article posted, it says the flying carousel won't be added until 2010, so there really is only the disc-o being added for next season. -James Dillaman -

^Well, living a couple miles from it, I can say that the pictures you get there or right outside of there will not be nearly as interesting as, say, if you catch the track going across a bridge over a river or something like that... I think the essence of the contest is unique pictures of the track in different geographic locations, not a bunch of pictures of a truck pulling out of the factory where the track was manufactured... -James Dillaman

This is good news, but with the slowing economy I'm hoping they aren't stretching themselves too thin with expansion. Maintaining a profit for 2009 will be tough enough without having too much debt over their heads... -James Dillaman EDIT: Never mind, the flying carousel isn't until 2010... That's better... -

You can already see a support and a little bit of the track from the interstate in front of KI (I drove by this afternoon), and it's going to be a lot taller! This will really change the skyline on that side of the park... -James Dillaman -

I overheard someone at work saying that the loop from Son of Beast was going to be used for this ride... Has anyone else heard this? I need a confirmation... -James Dillaman -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
jamesdillaman replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While standing near Face/Off back during the Paramount days at KI, i saw a woman scream and freak out saying "the coasters going backwards, oh my god!" after the brake released for it to go back through the layout. Other people were trying to calm her down and a lot were laughing, but she seemed genuinely terrified for a few seconds until she figured it out. -James Dillaman
