Adults can ride, but I passed. I don't count powered coasters as credis. The fair was spotless and clean-smelling. I would suggest that anyone who went there last year, go back and try it again. Even the animal exibits, with the 9 ft. horse and the Texas Longhorn, smelled like nothing. There were lot and lots (& LOTS) of industrial fans, airing the place out. -

Chunk 2: Kiddieland, Veggies, Mr. Camel, Petting Zoo, and "The Dragon Wagon that THINKS it's a Wacky Worm" (The last set of fics came out a little too small. They're bigger this time.) DONKEY! I hope you enjoyed this deliciously random update. Chunck 3 happens later. These may look like two giant rocks, but they're actually two Tortises pretending to be two giant rocks! Goat-Type-Thing. Alpaca: "I Feel Naked! And there's all of these peoples staring at me!" duhhhh... The Dragon Wagon That THINKS it's a Wacky Worm! Pink Elephants. Creepy. Just Creepy. Evil Kenevil: THE RIDE Is it smart to teach children that 8 people can drive at once? Pre-WWII-Rocket-Ride I a Busy Bee........Peace. Look at 'dem flyin' thangs! Rock N' Tug N' Sizzler Kiddieland Karousel The "Panda Bear and Honeycomb" ride. (Is it me, or is the the most random update ever?) Oohh! Camel: "I've decided that I am going to indulge on this delicious rope, despite the fact that it's loaded with calories and fat! Can I get a box of Turkish Royals from you? CAMEL! AND THEY'VE GOT A HOTTIE HOSTAGE! LOL! Check out the face on the guy to the left... OMFG! THE VEGGIETALES HAVE TAKEN OVER! And we're back! I'm pleased to submit to you.....THIS KRAZY SHOT ANGLE! -
I went to the Williamson County Fair! It was totaly awsome. There were lots of rides, tons of lifestock, flying dogs, the life of a farmer, the 1962 Seattle World Fair Ferris Wheel, Donkeys, and much, much, more! Because there's over 110 pics, I'm doing the report in good-sized chunks. I rode 4 rides, all of which were quite good: 1962 Seattle World Fair Ferris Wheel x1 Hammer x1 Mega Drop x1 Cyclops x1 Chunk 1: Wild Carnival Rides! Here's the Fair Layout. We entered at Kiddieland (small pink area), made our way to the Drew Expo (large pink area), then back up to kiddie land for food, back down to the Drew Expo for more rides, and then to the Agricultural Exposition (small yellow squares next to the Drew Expo) Thar she blows! Lets get in the southern mood with this silo-barn combo....and my dog's nosie prints on the window... Weeeeee! Chunk 2 comes later today! The drop ride was quite nice. It felt like a park model, as opposed to a traveling one. Here's the Hammer's quality seal! Fabbri has only killed a handful of people so far, and only on thier 'Booster" rides. This is my "Oh sh1t, the restraint's not locking" face. Just can't get enough of Hammer. Belive it or not, the ride was in full swing when I took this picture. These rides have always looked so picturesque to me. Here's the Elvis Presly car, dedicated to the King of Rock himself. If you think it's cool now, just imagine what they thought of it in 1962! Apparently, it's the largest portable Ferris Wheel in operation. The Ferris Wheel has cool supports, with 60's accents. This is were the Horsies live! Alright, that's quite enough of that. I like this picture. The Hammer was doing it's "hold on for dear life" thing, so I took a picture! Tuscany. Cuttlefish. Pudding. It doesn't even really matter what I say. I could say anything, and it wouldn't really matter, would it. All you want is the pictures! Here's the Drew Expo entrance area. I'm starting to run out of caption ideas for all of these areal shots. Mega Drop. Lots of action at the fair. Something was always running its cycle. Here you can see the Drew Expo, and the Kiddieland just beyond it. The Agricultre exibits are in the buildings behind the Hammer and Mega Drop. My Dad says "HELL NO!" It really was a well-displayed midway. The Himalaya was going OMFGFAST! The carnie offered to take our picture! The wavy seats were quite delightful. PROOF! SEE!!!!! I told you it was the Seattle World's Fair Ferris Wheel! Mid-Fall. This place is a feast for the eyes.....in an old, tacky sort-of way. The cars are attached to bizarre, horseshoe-shaped arms. The Hammer whilst hammering. Each of the cars had a different pastel color, and featured comfortably wavy seats. The Ferris Wheel was a true spectical. Horsey-Go-Round SharkTums: The RIDE Bigger than a true Hammer, yet a smaller model than the common "Kamakazi" ride. The midway was like something out of 1972. It was full of colour! It provied a lovely view of the sothern countryside before ripping you back down to earth. Mega Drop (pictured last), is actually right next to "Cyclops", but I somehow managed to cut the ride out of the picture. There is a tiny sliver of it in the top-right-most corner, though. The fair's article in the local paper made it very clear to the general public that their drop ride was completely different from the one at Kentucky Kingdom. Spinning Wild Mouse Our Fireball is called Moon Rocket. Why? Who knows. Who cares? No one. Get over it. Here we are now at the mouth of the main midway. The fair is full of classic rides like these. They were all refurbished, and were running better than ever! The first big ride that welcoms us....Spider! Well, "Black Widow", actually. Making our way down to the Drew Exposition Center Here's the teaster: A Dragon Wagon that THINKS its a Wacky Worm! We entered here, at the Kiddieland midway. Both of the ride midways had food, but Kiddieland's midway had the bestest! The rides are just off to the right.

Seriously, the Wingate is REALLY NICE! It's the closest hotel to the park and the rooms are affordable, clean, and feature a lovely view of the Georgia Cyclone.
-
The Wingate Inn is the closest hotel to the park, and its very nice. Do not stay at Days Inn It's a total dump! The River View Carousel, Balloon Race, Hanson Cars, Monster Plantation, The Railroad, and The Sky Buckets are great, gentle rides for someone with a bad back. The most popular rides are Goliath and Superman. However, these can have very high capacity and fast-moving lines if there are two trains running. Deja Vu is prone to down time. If it is open, there will be a long line due to one-train capacity, and will most likely break-down at some point during the day. Great American Scream Machine can be a slow loader if there's only one train running. This only happens just after it rains, and the skid breaks are too wet too work properly, which will limit the ride to one train operation. With two trains this ride has a fast-moving line. Batman The Ride can get long lines, as its the 3rd most popular ride in the park. Like Goliath and Superman, Batman can also have high capacity with two train operation. Georgia Scorcher, like Goliath, Batman, and Superman, have 4-across trains, which makes it a very high capacity ride. However, Georgia Scorcher isn't as popular as its other 4-across counterparts, but usually runs two trains, so lines are never a problem. Dalogenah Mine Train and Ninja never have long lines, even with one train operations. The Mine Train, though quite fun, is short and gentle, which makes it a less sought-after and unpopular attraction. Ninja is down-right unpleasant, so most of the general public stays away from it. Mindbender and Georgia Cyclone are generaly popular rides, so lines can be relatively long on occasion. Two train operations can cut these lines down to almost nothing. Wile E. Coyote's Canyon Blaster is the park's Kiddie coaster, so lines are never a problem. I hope this helps. Of the 4 Six Flags parks I've been too (California parks and Kentucky Kingdom), SFOG is definetly the finest. You will have a wonderful time.

Worst Coaster Ever?
Axman replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Son of Beast @ Kings Island--His father was never this rough, nor was any earthquake on the California coastline since 1906. Psyclone @ Magic Mountain--Rest In Peices Ninja @ SFOG--To think that Ninjas are supossed to fight out of self defense. This guy kicked my ass for no reason! Viper @ Magic Mountain--I would have rather fallen into the cacti that I was looping over, than have to experience the loops themeselves. -
Opryland USA Remnants 2007
Axman replied to TheRapidsNerd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's a good thing that the GJ is still there. I tell people that I rode Hangman (Kong), after Opryland closed. No one belives be. I went to Opry Mills shortly after a rainstorm one day. The GRR was flowing with about an inch of water; It almsot looked as though it could have been operating... -
^Personaly, I don' think there's anything wrong with themeparks becoming ride parks. In fact, Amusement parks are supposed to be full of fun rides. That's what its all about. Dollywood couldn't be doing a better job with themeing their rides and attractions, so I don't think any of the new rides take away from the atmosphere of a themepark. Besides, Dollywood is so huge, that there are still several spots that have yet to be bombarded with rides, in any way. Timber Canyon and Country Fair are the only places in the park that have more rides than anything else.

Here's my Take on the Phantom's Revenge dilema: Arrow Dynamics and Morgan Manufacturing were basically the same company. Dana Morgan hired Ron Toomer to be head of Arrow Development, which turned into Arrow Dynamics. Both companies were started by Morgan, and therfore, should be taken into account. I'm not saying the Magnum, Desparado, Titan, and Big One are Morgans, but the Phatom's Revenge most definetly is!!! Steel Phantom--Arrow Dynamics Phantom's Revenge--Morgan Manufacturing. Does anyone get what I'm saying here?
-
Oh, I forgot about that. There rest of the park still stands firm in my opinion.
-
Wild Thing was better than Steel Force, But Phantom's Revenge was better than Wild Thing. PHANTOM'S REVENGE PWNS ALL!!!(Morgans, that is.)

Apparently, Astroland doesn't even own the Cyclone. It's owned and operated by the City of New York, and will remain unchanged before, durring and after the re-model. Astroland is the nearest venue, and has "adopted" it inot their line-up of attractions. Besides, the Cyclone is not even on the plot of land that's going to be torn up and re-biult. It's on the other side of the street. Oh, and the Coney Island Cyclone IS a National Historic Landmark, the Wonder Wheel, however is not. I didn't even know that Deno's was even a part of the remodel. I thought it was just Astroland.

Dollywood theme is just "The South". Everything is related closely to southern customs, traditions, weather, landmarks, wildlife, stereotypes, origans, history, food, agriculture, economy and terrain. It may seem like a hog-podge if you've never been, but Dollywood is truly a magnificent themepark with a genuine theme. This is how they get away with virtually duplicating SDC--by having a different, yet related, theme. Anything at Dollywood could just as easily take place in the 1880s.
-
I had no idea that SDC Tennessee was laid out like that! (Refiring to the 1981 park map.) I never would have guessed that the under ground tunnel was part of the main midway! I can't BELIVE how much thst park has grown! It's crazy! Everything left of the RR tracks was built in the last 25 years, which means that, by 2008, the park will have TRIPLED in size!!! I never realized how much SDC and Dollywood have in common. They seem rather similar. Several of their attractions are the same basic design: Blazin Fury=Fire In The Hole Mountain Slidewinder=WaterWorks Waterboggan Lost River Of The Ozarks=Smoky Mountain River Rampage Waltzing Swinger=Magnificent Wave Carousel Dizzy Disk=Electro Spin(Different Sizes) VeggieTales Sideshow Spin=Grand Exposition Coaster Amazing Flying Elephants=Elephant March Lemon Twist=Royal Tea Party Busy Bees=The Ladybugs Lucky Ducky=Wings Of Wonder Piggy Parade=Happy Frogs Calico Falls Schoolhouse=Oak Trail School Robert F. Thomas Chapel=Wilderness Church Dream Forrest Treehouse=Guiser Gulch They've both had or have Steam Trains, Classic Log Flumes, Crooked Mansions, Arrow Mine Trains, and Flooded Mines, plus several rides that aren't the same, but play similar roles in the parks collection of rides: Tennessee Tornado and Wildfire--Sit-Down Loopers Powder Keg and Mistery Mine--Family-Friendly Thrill Coasters Timber Tower and The GIANT Swing--Family Friendly flagship Flat Rides I really had no idea how much the parks were alike. Iknew that the had similaritis because they're owned by the same parrent company, but I really never knew just how similar they were.

Nice TR. It nice to hears some possative reviews about Apollo's Chariot and Alpengiest. All I ever hear is "Alpengiest is so lack-lustre", or "Apollo's Chariot has no airtime because of breaking". Thanks for making feel good about visiting BGE. I thought this picture turned out really great, like the sort of thing you'd see in a brochure.

I agree. They should get a high-capacity crowd pleaser, like any form of Huss Frissbee or S&S Screamin' Swing. They've already had a falling star, so I don't suposse they be getting an other one. However, If they've kept it in storage, then there is a good chance that it will re-open in the near-to-distant future. I think their next coaster should be in the Independence Day section. They haven't had one since the Firecracker.
