  1. ^^ SFGAm happens to be their best example of preserving the past. Just look at SFOT! The only origonal is the train. Pretty much the same goes for SFOG and SFSt.L. I belive SFMM has only the Sky Tower and Gold Rusher, that are still operating, and SFGAd only has the Sky Ride, The Ferris Wheel, The Log Flume, and Mine Train. Preserving the past is the last thing SF is concerned about. SFGAm just got lucky. This is not to say that CF preserves the past too well, but it's better than what SF can offer. Besides, chains don't preserve the past that well anyway. Its part of being a train. Also, I don't count "The Turn Of The Century" as a ride that's been operating since opening day, because its been the "Demon" since 1980. Most of it is the same ride, but a lot of it is not, which is reason enough to call a "new" ride. Also (again), CF sold Zambezi Zinger to a new park. SF almost scarpped Whizzer, and it took an army of ragging ACErs to stop them! Zambezi Zinger seems to be doing just fine.
  2. It'll be an Arrow Mine Train with stand-up cars...
  3. ^ That's not necessarily true. CF has made good decisions in the past, and I'm confident that they'll pull through.
  4. Really amazing pictures! Dragon Kahn is one of B&M's most beautiful coasters, IMHO.
  5. SF can provide a decent theme when it comes to Gotham City, but as far as the original themed areas, nothing makes sense. Take SFOG: Ninja and Superman in the "Cotton States"? Georgia Cyclone and Achrafobia in "Britain"? Dalogena Mine Train and Bugs Bunny Land in "Spain"? Goliath in "USA" and Monster Plantation in "France"? I'd assume that none of these areas even had a theme, If the park map didn't make it clear. CP has Mantis and MF on the "Western Trail", but at least they are both at the beginnig, before any actual theming starts. Maverick and Tatsu are good examples of each of the chains trying to read into the park's original themes. CP's Western area doesn't really have anything that contradicts the theme (except Skyhawk, which really has no theme at all), While SFMM's Samurai Summit has Ninja and Tatsu, as well as Superman. SF also has an obligation to build rides themed to superheros and villains, which is why they stray so far away from the theme. In the case of "X", However, in Baja Ridge, theres really no reason why the ride shouldn't have some king of a Baja theme. In recent years, it seems that CF has an easier time building new rides that mesh with the current theme.
  6. ^Maybe so but it should be nasty to a point. SFMM's Batman queue smells because of the rotting garbage heating up at 100 dagrees over night. It's like a dirty, napkin, cup, and discarded condiment stew.
  7. The rows of lines just over the spine look like something to hold onto when the track is being inspected.
  8. ^Wow, really? I didn't see that coming. Do you think they'll be cleaner this year?
  9. Who gave you that bad crack you're smoking?
  10. ^ I'm actually going to have to agree. SFMM's Hurricane Harbor was nicer than Magic Mountain itself....
  11. Extrememly pleased to see that Vekoma cares enough about their SLCs to manufacture OTSRless trains for them. I'm totally impressed, and hopefully, the trains will be a success!
  12. ^ I Really want to go to Worlds of Fun! It seems to be CF best example of a themed amusement park. KBF I though had great Mexican and Ghost Town themes, but the Boardwalk seemed more like a "Michigan's Adventure with Good Rides" section. Not enough trees, and a real-board-treatment would look nice.
  13. Lovely pictures! I need to go back to CP bad!
  14. Sometimes, waiting in line isn't the problem, it's the waiting conditions. I'd be pleased to wait an hour for Dueling Dragons, but the same can not be said for most rides. What is the dirtiest, filthiest, most down-right nauseating queue line you've waited in? They can get pretty bad, with culprits like bubble gum, rubbish, dirt, ect. Some queues are so neglected, that the presence in the queue is more horrifying than the wait itself! I'd have to say, that my worst would be Mindbender ay SFOG. There was a large tree that was COVERED in discarded chewing gum, featuring every color of gum imaginable. Yuck...
  15. Well between the two, at least I know I'm not totally crazy. Both of these parks struggle in the same areas, but in different ways. SF remains to be credited for building the most extreme coasters, while CF seems to fall just short of the standard generated by SF. SF won't be pushing the envelope on coaster technology for a while, because of the coaster-related debt that they've dug themselves into, which means the CF will eventually come out on top for brand new rides. However, because CF's taste in rides won't necessarily change, this may simply lead to a few years of under-par ride unveilings from both chains. Basically, SF goes overboard with wild new attractions, and CF stays relatively within budget, but falls short. SF had decent themes at one time, but have all fallen to despair because of the various trademarked rides that are going into themed areas. Superman: The Escape on Samaria Summit is a perfect example of this. CF succeeds when properly assessing a themed area, like the Western areas at CP and KBF, put the parks with no themes are falling victim to clean, boring spaces and lack of foliage. Michigan's Adventure is their best example. Basically, SF can't stick to a theme, and CF can't landscape. Some prefer the most bone-chilling extremes of SF, despite the lack of themeing and crummy operations. Others prefer the more conservative thrills and comfortable, light themes of CF, despite the lack of foliage and unpopular management decisions. I happen to prefer the extreme thrills of a SF park, but I can't stand being in a filthy, run-down environment. CF doesn't deliver thrill like SF, but at least they are clean and comfortable. On the other hand, I might like CF parks better than SF parks, but the difference pales in comparison to how much I love roller coasters in general. To me, CF is simply the greater of to goods.
  16. At MM, the themes minus nothing is atrocious. I rest my case.
  17. Thank you so much for your imput. You're opinion of KBF is exactly where I've coming from. They just have a great mix. As much as I hate MM, they do have some winners, as far as coasters go, but everything else has simply fallen away.
  18. This is where I stop reading. Alright, what is wrong with Knott's Berry Farm!?!? I don't get it, am I the only one who likes KBF? The themes were great, the food was great, the rides were great; what's the problem?!
  19. I've been to Camp Snoopy, Valleyfair, Cedar Point, Knott's Berry Farm and Dorney Park. I've been to Kings Island and Great America, but not since the the CF purchase. The only probelms with CF is too much cement , and too many trash cans. Valleyfair!, Cedar Point, and Knott's Berry Farm were all fantastic. Dorney was really good, but needs some more landscaping. To be honest, Michigan's Adventure looks pretty bad, with its extreme lack of foliage, but Worlds of Fun look excellent. CF is a tad irrational about not operating in the rain, but its crazy how quickly a rain shower can turn into a potentialy dangerous thunder storm. Better safe than sorry. When it's not raining at a CF park, most, if not all, of their rides are operating. a handfull of rides at any giver Six Flags park are not operating for various reasons. SFKK, SFMM. and SFMW are all pitiful and need some work. SFOG, on the other hand, was beatuiful and highly enjoyable. SFOG is on par with most CFparks, for the most part, but they still have problems with keeping rides open. Durring my last trip, Achraphobia, Deja Vu, Tidal Wave, Looping Starship, and Sky Buckes were closed at leat one of the two days I was there. However, Deja Vu was the only ride that was not open both days. Given the parks I've been to, I really think CF has the upper hand. Also, at least CF is in a pile of debt that they can repay.
  20. Cedar Fair is better, because Six Flags mostly sucks ass. Cedar Fair might have a severe trash can obsession, but thats nothing compared to the butchuring of all things rollercoaster at SF parks. Just LOOK at Magic Mountain. Its a shrine to SF's wonderful park management. Cedar Point might have too many trash cans, or trims on some of thier coasters, but at least they can keep their rides open. The last time I was at Magic Mountain, Freefall, X, Superman, Tidal Wave, Flashback (what a suprise), Go Carts, DareDevil Dive, Sky Tower, Grinder's Gear Works, Atom Smasher, Circus Wheel, Metro, and Half of Colossus was closed. The last time I was at Cedar Point, only Top Thrill Dragster was closed, because it hadn't been opened yet! Cedar Point's multiple trash cans are a bit obsessive, but Magic Mountain has filth lying everywhere; on the ground, in the water, in flower beds, is water fountains, in toilets, on the floors of coaster trains, and so on. I'd take too many trash cans any day.
  21. I'd pay $40 for 'em. $50 at the very most. First things first, I need to buy a track set!
  22. The track looks like a Mack water coaster's
  23. I looks like a Mack Water Coaster/Intamin Aquatrax! (Aquatrax Fanboys, commense sh1ting yourselves now)
  24. Lebron's Lightning Lemon Looper? Seriously, though. I don't ever know who that is. Oh, and I found an other Vertigo: Half Chocolate, Half Candy, Half Crazy!
