Millenium Force and Mantis

Ranking discomfort on the 200 something coasters I've been on, MF is the most comfortable by far...the only ones in the same league are the B&M hypers... ....for me, the other end of that list is every stand-up I've been on...they rank ahead in the pain category of every Arrow and Vekoma I've ever been on simply due to the fact that they feature a device against which my genitals are thrust... ..my understanding is that Riddlers Revenge is tolerable, but I haven't been on it...so in my book, stand-up coasters are the work of Satan... -

I'm amazed anyone could vote for GASM...I wanted off of it as soon as it left the left hill....and Rolling Thunder was only slightly more enjoyable... -

How did you miss the Shoot Out at the Flooded Mine? No water rides? ______ I think this is the first person I've ever heard say they were disappointed with SDC. Its OK, you're entitled to your opinion. But if you want a park crammed with Vekoma crap coasters and run-of-the mill flats, go to a Cedar Fair or Six Flags park...actually, SDC now has way more flats than it ever did. You've got 3 quality coasters, a Disk-O, the Barn Swing, a great dark ride shooter, a cave tour with tram, a great train ride, a variety of good food, some good shows (if youre into them), 3 great wet rides, a nice kiddie water play area, a crooked house, a coaster/dark-ride classic, interesting craftspeople to watch, and lots of little nook and crannies to explore. I've been like 12 times, and its the one park within a reasonable drive that I can visit every year....

Good Coaster, Bad Park

As a occasional out-of-state visitor, it doesn't bother me. What they need to do is get rid of that So Cal Discount. THAT'S what fills the park up with obnoxious locals and takes away from any ambience the place has. If you live in So Cal, get an ANNUAL PASS, or pay what the rest of us pay! Those discounts probably bring in 80% of the obnoxious people that just fill the park with stupidity. The place would be much more enjoyable if it weren't choked with hordes of So Cal locals. If I lived in So Cal, I would be an annual AP holder, no doubt. And I would not be happy with those discounts for the rest of the riff-raff who can't even pay full-price for one day... I really don't mean to offend (I think most people on here know what I'm really saying)....but if the park had mostly AP holders and tourists, wouldn't it be 100% more enjoyable?

"The last of the new era cookie cutter stadiums"? What does this mean? The "cookie cuters" were built in the late 60s & early 70s. The Cell (new Comiskey) debuted in 1991. Its not part of any class of stadiums. It was built before Camden Yards and the new wave of "retro" stadiums, but its not a cookie cutter. That term specifically refers to the multi-purpose stadiums with artifical surfaces - mainly the ones built in Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis. The Cell was built without any influence from any contemporary stadiums. The previous two before it were domes: Skydome in Toronto in 1989 and the Metrodome in Minesota in 1982. the ones after it were "classic-looking", beginning with the amazing Camden Yards. The Cell is boring based on its own merits (or lack thereof), but it does not qualify as "cookie cutter". This is a very specific baseball term that doesn't apply here....

Was Viper not running? That's probably my favorite coaster at that park.

Favorite orlando park and why
MisterP replied to olly4coastersUK's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I forgot my reasons: IOA: Best coasters in Orlando, good theming, Spider Man MK: most stuff to do of any Orlando park, several classic attractions, great theming Epcot: best atmosphere; most unusual -

Nice pictures. I freaking love that place. So where did they actually put Steel Hawg? Is it back near the cabins and the main lot (on the log flume side)? -
Last week was the 45th anniversary of the fire that destroyed the Forest Park Highlands, a small municipal amusement park in southwest St. Louis city. It was located about 2 miles from my house, right next to where the old Arena stood, where the St. Louis Blues hockey team played from 1967-1994. Here are some links that show the park and one extremely awesome pic of the Flying Turns on fire: http://southsidejournal.stltoday.com/articles/2008/07/21/news/doc487e4f514e28b427191505.txt http://members.aol.com/Fphdoug/early.html http://members.aol.com/fphdoug/late.html

Rail Blazer At Six Flags St. Louis
MisterP replied to JamesMC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm from St. Louis and remember that time very well.....my guess is that Rail Blazer existed for such a short time that no one on this particular site was there to: A. take pictures of the ride during the short time that it ran and B. post them on this particular (or any other) theme park site 25 years later not a big mystery, really..... -
Hard Rock Park Vs. Dollywood

I have not been to, nor have any desire to go to HRP (yet), and even I know the answer to that question. So I won't bother reading that particular blog... -

You're kidding...I took this picture on June 26th and it was right in front of the Helios go-kart track!!! Well two weeks is plenty of time to pack up a disko. Assuming they did sell it, they could easilly have packed it up and hauled it away in a day. It's not a large ride by any means. In the exact MIDDLE of a season?!?! What would the point in that be?!! oh, wait..what am I saying...this is Mt. Olympus, the most bizarre, weirdly run park in the U.S........
