  1. You never know but...... Personaly, I have been saying it is not coming back. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
  2. As one of the few rides at SFNO that can be salvaged, it is being dismantled for possible repair and rebuild. SFI has not said yet if they are going to rebuild SFNO. Maybe Batman will go to another park if SFNO does not come back.
  3. By the way, watching on tv just isn't the same as being there live. Often times there are a few things going on around the main act that you see peripherally there live but just don't see on tv. Plus the fact you are seeing a totally live show including the music. It just looks feels and sounds awesome live. On tv, it is just ok. Then again you just might hate Cirque de Soleil. Often it is a love it or hate it thing for people.
  4. ^ Let me guess, you buy something new every year! LOL ^ They all look awesome. Every year i forget how i got the best pics and have to do some test pics first. The one i posted is a test pic. I will take some better ones this weekend.
  5. Show us your Christmas Lights ! AKA Xmas Lights or Holiday Lights Thought I might apear for a bit and start this thread. Maybe yall might like it. Here be mine. Yeah, I know there is one freakin red light out on the roof! I showed you mine, now you show me yours.
  6. J , Obligated? Yes. Interested? No. Trying to get out of the 75 year lease? You bet. We already know for fact that it is locals who visit and support the park. The population may never return to New Orleans to support SFNO. If it does, it will be MANY many years. We also know that this park was never supported by tourist's and never will be a destination park. I was unofficially told 3 months ago it won't be back. We can still dream though!
  7. SFI is in no way interested in rebuilding SFNO.
  8. As i was reading the article, i kept thinking how slick they were. They kept saying Cirque but not saying Cirque du Soleil. Of course most naturaly hear cirque and automatically, cirque du soleil comes to mind. Guess i need to go back and re read the article cause it may not be a true cirque du soleil show but a knockoff. Also seems many are zero ing in on the show itself. There is the other part of the "tranformed park after dark" I am very interested in that part if it is done right. Hell, i would go just for an awesome transormed after dark and skip the show.
  9. Well, As far as last season is concerned, there was all the talk about family atmosphere ,clean restroom, more characters ect. That seemed to happen very quickly and without much national advertising. At least i sure didn't see much in the way of comercials promoting this to those who rarely if at all went to parks. Sure we knew about it cause we look for the info. Maybe what will make the big difference in 07 is a major advertising campaign to make known to GP about the new changes and bring in better attendance. I believe 07 is the season we will really see if the changes make some major difference. If not, i think SF won't be round much longer.
  10. But the rides won't sell. They are only good for scrap metal. The operational rides at astroworld were a hard sell and did not fetch much. Why would anyone be interested in the destroyed rides at SFNO? Besides for scrap metal. Besides, employees and guests are no longer here to support an amusement park. The numbers won't be back for quite some years. The city can't even get our City Park back up. They are asking and depending on people still here to donate time and money into it.
  11. The water was drained out round end of oct or beginning of nov 2005. The rides are not re-hab-able. They were submerged in salt water which is extremely corosive. Add to that another year of deterioration. The top halves of rides which were not in water, but wind damaged, could be used for parts but that isn't much.
  12. Absolutely nothing going on inside the park. If there was intent to return we would have been gutting out the buildings and cleaning up. It looks, sits and deteriorates totally untouched just as it did the last day i worked in the park which was the last week of december 2005.That was also when i took about 200 photos from inside the park. This should indicate the intention not to return, and they won't. I was unofficially informed months ago SF won't be back. I posted a photo here in the last month or so. Guess you can do a search for "mardi gras menagerie" to find it. It is normal to wonder what will happen, along with everyone else. I am telling you it aint comming back.
  13. Sometimes there are people who get so frightened that they don't realize how dangerous and deadly thier action is. Last season at SFNO a parent worked herself and child out of the restraint on wild mouse and jumped out near the top of the lift. Course they would have been safe if they stayed in the car and rode. Thank GAWD i did not have to experience an accident that day!
  14. Why don't they come down south and save the milions of roaches we blatantly stomp and exterminate out of homes here?
  15. The photos that are widely available are of the park under water. Those were not suppose to be public, but were posted on a photo hosting site by someone who did not know that they would explode all over the internet soon after. They certainly were in big trouble when it happened. Lucky for everyone though, cause without that mistake the only photos anyone would have seen was the pictures taken from the news helicopters in the air. Currently there are no sites that have photos from inside the park. SFI has not released any photo of the park except for the recent photo of the carousel which was in a news story about it's former GM Terry Prather few days ago. Since it was made public i decided to share mine which is better quality and shows the whole ride instead of just a part of it. As far as the other photos taken from inside while the park was flooded, they are here on TPR somewhere. Don't worry, if you read a coaster site or two regularly as soon as pics show up you will see or hear about them. We always do! Inspectors deemed MZ 40% structural damage.
  16. ^ The Jet Ski Show went away in 2002 or 2003. ^ SFNO won't be coming back.
  17. Since the image of Mardi Gras Menagerie now public, here is mine. Enjoy
  18. " What Makes a Coaster Scary? " The fact that wooden supports can crack and bring a train to a sudden stop that could injure and kill riders.
  19. I didn't read through all pages but you know, if she had a heart condition, the running back to her family part could have even done it.
  20. Cool, I still have a Black Wolf and two set 30's.
  21. OMG, This is so funny! Or not funny. When i visited MT O 2 months ago i could not believe all the messed up stuff that goes on in that place. Including the high speed track areas that a guest can get to. Out at the parking lot, the fence that runs along the front of the park just stops and there you can walk right up to and climb on Zeus track! Cameras so that anyone knows whats going on? I saw none. Now everyone knows it is true when you talk about how bad operations are. Operator of Hades would dispatch and then leave the panel and sit on the exit stairs facing away from the ride. I don't know how there has not been an incident yet.
  22. Not shure where the real coaster is but it is just a small corkscrew. They created a much bigger coaster through CGI and flippinng film of the original coaster ect. You know, all the usual hollywood tricks to make something big and amazing. Yeah, The hydrolics for the restraints were leaking from the beginning and during the course the wheels started to become loose. Then, when the camera was dropped it wraped on the track below which completely severed the hydrolic line later when the train whent over it. How the track became broke i am not shure. It just seemed that bam!, there it was a seperated road rail. SHRUG But i like the final destination films as i thought they were different and fun. Now, after # 3 i think it is enough.
  23. Initially i posted their report as an inside joke. I am an "insider" and knew that the news story was a bunch of crock. People were reporting that the coaster was unrepairable before the water was drained out the park. You gotta take what you here lightly untill profesionals give a real report. Kids say the darndest things. The inspection of MZ was completed towards the end of december 2005. Structural damage was listed as 40%. No one has publicly stated yet that it is unrepairable. I doubt that it will be moved anywhere. It kinda sucks.
  24. So whats the problem? If it goes up for sale, the city can buy it. Then there is no problem. Damn, I am so smart.
  25. Turn in their uniforms? I thought all sf employees bought uniforms, which means it is theirs and they keep them. I have two years worth. You know how much money the park would lose if they gave out uniforms with the high tunover of employees?
