  1. Having just got back from Orlando and seeing first hand how many kids and adults showed up to UO decked out in potter costumes, TV shirts, etc...I think it is safe to say that the Potter craze is far from over. I'd even argue it's this generations Star Wars, with a whole generation having grown up loving the books and movies. As far as attendance and revenue go, here is what the company had to say in its 2014 final earnings:
  2. Oddly enough, a lot of the properties used during HHN are not actually Universal properties AVP is owned by Fox. This is the End is Columbia Pictures. Walking Dead is owned by AMC. Only Halloween II & III are owned by Universal.
  3. It's nice to see them replacing dated attractions. We'll have to wait and see how they turn out, but after 20 years of ownership changes and neglect, it's nice to see Comcast so invested in the parks around the world!
  4. 1 - I don't have a 4K TV 6 - Will be getting a new TV for living room soon, but probably not 4K since not enough content is out there yet. 7 - When I decide to get a new TV, 4K will likely be a priority. Certainly more than 3D, which I see no point to at home.
  5. Happy that a high school classmate of mine (Mike Moustakas) won. Sad Dodgers didn't. Happy Dodgers dumped Mattingly (good people manager---not a good in game manager).
  6. I don't think I would trust SFMM to keep this accurate and up to date. The signs at their entrances are always outdated (though that might be because it's so easy for guests to mess with them and rotate the number).
  7. Seems like Dubai is throwing tons of money into theme parks again. I wonder if this one will actually get built? Fox has lots of properties that could make awesome theme park attractions, so I hope it pans out.
  8. I guess they really like HHN in Japan! http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2015/11/02/business/corporate-business/usj-drew-record-number-visitors-october/ Not sure I believe the TDL comment but 1.75 million people in a month is insane!
  9. Considering the Indian Trails area hasn't really been much of a thing for 15 years...I suspect the movement of the stage is part of longer term plans.
  10. I can't even remember the last time I saw 3 trains running on GhostRider.
  11. I honestly enjoyed all the Sally off the shelf shooting dark rides I've been on way more than Iron Reef. I felt like Iron Reef was a very cheap attempt at Cedar Fair trying to be high tech.
  12. I'm assuming flights are cheaper because of the Chinese economy struggling right now...
  13. I'm not sure if the laws are different in Florida, but for any misdemeanor charges in California, unless the officer witnesses it themselves they are unable to make the arrest. They are technically making arrests on behalf of the victim who has to press charges. More often than not, the monsters won't want to press charges because it will require their time to go to court as well. It doesn't have anything to do with alcohol. When I worked at Knott's as a monster (2003-2008), the event was dry and there were still plenty of obnoxious guests who touched, groped, tried to act tough, etc. to impress their friends or girlfriends. It's an unfortunate hazard that comes with the job.
  14. No, but it would probably be quite the whipper snapper
  15. If it is back to its earlier years...it's a top 10 wooden coaster for sure.
  16. The backwards cars on Mindbender is the most intense coaster I have ever experienced. Revolutions loop backwards would be insane...
  17. Universal or B&M may very well have contracted another fabricator.
  18. I'm all for it. I wish parks would manage the process better. Putting vending machines and having vendors in the queues, then not allowing someone to leave to use the restroom in a long line creates a no win situation.
  19. ^There are all sorts of loopholes and exemptions for employers. In your example, if requiring a doctors note is outlined in their employment contract---they are waiving the right to that privacy by agreeing to the employment contract or if that is part of their union contract. In general, for workers compensation, ADA, and FMLA requests, employers are allowed to ask for verification because of the financial burden involved for both parties. In fact, HIPAA doesn't protect workers compensation claims at all, since the two parties are essentially arguing over who caused a person to become disabled in the first place. But none of those rules apply to customers of a business since the average person who needs accommodation isn't expecting accommodations every single day for an extended period of time like an employee is by making a FMLA or ADA claim.
  20. The other sound stage that Nickelodeon used for production is back to being a soundstage (stage 19). Stage 18 and the "tour" parts of the studios were converted for Blue Man Group needs.
  21. Dark Harbor has been my personal favorite the last few years! Not as detailed of sets as HHN or Knotts (but close), but the talent sets them apart! So many unique scares and things the other haunts (like the ball pit and the "brain" room in B340) could never get away with!
  22. ^Yes. That's not the issue being discussed. It's whether or not a doctor's note is the best way to eliminate fraud.
  23. I Imagine they would be ripping out footers already too if major layout changes were planned.
