  1. He's been to "roughly 50" parks and hasn't ever seen a stray cat?!? I don't think there have been very many visits to KBF or Disneyland where I haven't seen a stray cat...I figured it was a pretty common thing for parks to have stray animals (or just random animals in general) calling the park their home.
  2. ^Don't worry, I'm sure soon enough you will read it on miceage and then claim your imagineering friends told you all about it.
  3. ^This is a perfect example of why all the "legacy" airlines are failing! They do everything possible (including lobbying the government to create lame ass rules like this one) to protect their outdated business models instead of improving their service/fleet/pricing to give travelers the service they want! They still fight to keep Jetblue and Southwest out of cities too through BS laws and FAA regulations.
  4. I'm guessing the new park is either Shanghai or Singapore.
  5. It's a nuclear winter. Sweet.
  6. ^I hope you lose a lung tonight.
  7. http://newteevee.com/2007/01/17/virgin-video/ I was sold after they had free BBQ outside the Coliseum, but now after seeing their plane...WOW! Check it out and help them out!
  8. I think that was funny about 5 years ago.
  9. ^Didn't stop them from opening Deja Vu... But at least they actually fired that manager. Assuming they still have the same training structure, if there is no certified people, I doubt it is opening this weekend. Has it really been a year since X has been open? Or does SFMM suck so much ass to work at that all the certified people have left? Or maybe it's the training supervisor that sucks and didn't do retesting? Or trying to pull people in for weekday training to ensure it's open just makes too much sense? Only SFMM... Oh, and I'm also guessing Mike was about one of 10 employees to actually read that cell phone memo. I'm sure it's been trashed at most attractions by now.
  10. ^Kind of makes you wonder if we're next to go in the Valley.
  11. Fat Tire Amber Ale on tap at Green Valley Ranch and Widner Heff on tap at Red Rock. I don't know anything about beer, so the only way I rate beer is "good" and "bad." Both qualify as good.
  12. Spoken like a true former SFMM employee. There are very strict guidelines set by Disney and by the Air Quality Management Board that pretty much amount to "play it super safe...or else!"
  13. That's so awesome. Makes you wonder how outdated their fire infastructure is to have all those pipes freeze/rupture (I'm guessing that is what happened).
  14. We can play "10,000,000 degrees of separation" all night long if we want to. I could say the PAC-10 is better than the SEC because USC has owned Auburn and Arkansas, then you could say "oh yeah, well LSU beat arizona, Tennessee over Cal, etc." Then I could counter with something else. PAC-10 finished with three ranked teams as opposed to the SEC's 5. Not a huge difference. Who is right? Who knows. It's all subjective supported by valid arguments on each side. By the way, how did Tennessee do in their bowl game against the "over rated" BIG-10 team? Guess the slow BIG-10 (if we are playing the conference stereotype game) was able to keep up with those "bigger and faster" SEC guys. I never said the PAC-10 is a better conference! I'm just saying that the SEC, like every other major conference out there (including the PAC-10), has 1 or 2 teams that can sustain their dominance and a few more "middle of the road" programs that have some history that put together good years every now and then (example: Florida. They were so "big and fast" for the last 10 years they didn't have a 10 win season for how long before winning it all this year??). It's definitely not head and shoulders above the rest like I'm sick and tired of hearing. Georgia Tech? Oh wait, they were always supposed to suck.
  15. Die.
  16. ^Those rides have always been on the Games departments budget. Operations has just staffed them. That's why they never had staffing problems.
  17. I still stand by my comments. Florida got to where they are partially because they played 7 home games (including power houses UCF and Western Carolina), which made their road to the title a bit easier, and I think Ohio State was over rated...but all that aside: I did say MOST teams in the SEC had horrible offenses (Florida's team speed is pretty damn impressive) and like all the major conferences there is a few standouts (Florida) to go with a bunch of over rated teams that haven't been good in years. But Florida still deserves all the credit in the world. Ohio State is still a really good football team that got obliterated by a much better Florida team. Oh, and just to touch on the BCS: It might be a screwed up system, but especially in a season like this one...imagine if things had been done the old way. You'd have the traditional bowl alignments, so theoretically USC could have beaten Ohio State, Florida could have won their game against someone in the Sugar Bowl, Oklahoma against someone that would definitely not have been Boise State, and so on....with the end result being even more debate over who is really #1. Crazy to think that UF would have been snubbed if USC beat UCLA, but it's better than the old system IMO. Oh, and... Because I'm a USC fan. -Joey "wishes there was a playoff this year so USC could play UF" Mandel
  18. Grr...USC totally would have killed Ohio State with their speed on defense. Stupid UCLA. Oh well. Florida showed they deserved to be there. Didn't expect this at all. Gators killed em. But hey, now the Gators have fufilled their "good every 10-15 years" quota so we don't have to worry about them anymore.
  19. It's still going to cost you at least $50,000 with all the other equipment you need. Good for filmmakers (currently 4K resolution camers can only be rented for lots of money a day...), still a long ways away from being useful for us!
  20. I wasn't a number because I agree with Nicole and thought this stopped being funny a long time ago.
  21. ^Yeah, it's always been my understanding that SFMM never owned that land. They just had some sort of agreement with NL&F (as others have pointed out).
  22. Finish it. I really don't think they added much except for the stage projections on the ceiling from the original/scrapped/unfinished lighting package for RockIt mountain that was installed when Space 2.0 first opened. I think the idea has great potential (at least as "fill in the gap because we got sh*t else going on until Nemo" attraction) if they were to go all out and make it look good. If the story is supposed to be a concert in space, make it feel like major concert. More lights, more fog, lazers, projections, etc. Like I said, it's the lighting package you expect at a crappy club. Not something you expect from lighting designers with as much talent/resources as the Imagineers. Screamin'? That's a lost cause. The song doesn't work on the ride to begin with, so the only improvement could be to actually remix/remaster the song to actually have transitions that make sense.
  23. You really think SFMM management cares that much anymore? There was a time when they were active on the west coaster centric message boards (ahh...good times), but those supervisors have long since left the company. I doubt Mike gets sh*t for posting online like I did.
  24. OK, I'll bite. They both suck ass. It's painfully obvious absolutely no time went into either of these attractions. Well, ok...I take that back. The music synced good on Space Mountain, so that probably took a little bit of time. But the lighting is so amateurish it's ridiculous. LED par lights on any rail they could find, a couple of "intelligent" lights moving around, a couple of lame projectors projecting a floating stage on the ceiling, and some gobos, strobes...and you have rockin Space Mountain. It's a lighting package you except a local band at a crappy club to have! Oh, and the only neat effect from the new space mountain (the projected vortex tunnel) was turned into one of the "psychadellic" (for lack of a better term) videos you see when playing music on windows media player. LAAAAMMME. The only saving grace is that it is kind of cool to see the inside for a change. Screamin? They didn't do absolutely anything to the song except chop it up to match the pre-exisiting cues on the ride. So basically anywhere the Screamin' music would normally change, it jumped to another part of the song. I could have done that in 5 minutes on protools. LAAAME. It's also clear they didn't make any attempt to remaster the song to sound good on the ride, as it was WAY too loud for speakers positioned right next to your head.
  25. That tree and the Christmas parade floats were compliments of one of the paramount parks.
