  1. ^Here's one thing I don't understand about the Pirates: it's not like the team they traded away was doing any good, so why not try and go in a different direction?
  2. That's a good point. I wasn't a fan of Believe either for the same reason. I enjoyed the older versions of the shows with more educational stuff instead of horrible storylines and less tricks from the animals.
  3. $200+stubhub fees. Not bad at all for what you get! I definitely ate+drank that much in food if I was to pay normal price for all that stuff in the stadium.
  4. So my intention was to bump this thread with photos supplementing Scott's Excellent Sporting TR Thread with the pictures I took at the Braves game, but then Dan and I decided on a whim "Hey we got nothing better to do...lets buy Padres dugout club seats on stubhub and head down. At 3:30pm. On a Tuesday. Leaving from Sherman Oaks." We actually did make it on time for the game, since once you get passed the awful LA Traffic, it really lightens up. And aside from one douchebag security guard, the experience was incredible. Petco is an awesome little stadium. Welcome to Petco Park. The stadium PETA hates (but really, what don't they hate?) and I love. See, right in the heart of the city. The Stadium is right in the heart of the Gaslamp district. Basically, they kicked all the homeless people/prostitutes/drug deals/etc. out of this area of old abandoned buildings and redeveloped the whole area. We intended to walk around the stadium and explore, but once we realized just how good our seats were, and how awesome our in-seat waiter was (Booze+Rubios Tacos+Nachos+some special order pastrami sandwich the season ticket holder next to us recommended=us not moving). So you'll have to settle for this half-assed photo of the most unique design feature @ Petco: it's incorporation of of the historic(?) Western Metal Supply building. After surviving the gauntlet free of food and alcohol, we made it to our seats. This was our view. ...Where you can stuff yourself even more! Not pictured: the very not Dan-friendly dessert platter. And the Hot Dogs. But the hot dogs were just plain anyways. Once you are stuffed full of delicious food and/or drunk off your ass, you can head over to the "lounge" portion of the dugout club en route to your seats.... While you are stuffing yourself, you can also enjoy the completely open bar! Dan and I may or may not have finished off the cuts of rib and carne asada that once resided there. Speaking of that gourmet food... You can also peak into the Padres indoor batting cage area. So anyways, once you walk past the forbidden corridor, you get two options: option #1 is this kickass restaurant where the gourmet food is. This would be the point where I would tell you about how you walk right past the corridor where the locker rooms are, but instead I had to re-use this photo from the Dodger dugout club because apparently if you attempt to take a picture of this area "I will have to take your memory card and delete everything before you even think about getting it back." I guess the security guy has to make himself feel important somehow. Once you enter, there's a small lobby area with this random display of jerseys just in case you forgot where you were. The entrance to the dugout club.
  5. Everyone swears they are clean...until they get busted. I wouldn't be surprised if Schilling is on the list. I personally don't care that they did drugs that are only going to screw them up worse in the long run, as baseball has been a game of cheaters for ages. Ty Cobb notoriously sharpened his cleat spikes, Gaylord Perry made a hall of fame career out of doctoring baseballs, people stealing signs, and so on. I only wish they would quit kidding themselves and trying to deny it. Just come clean and move on. All they are doing is setting themselves up to fall harder when the truth does come out.
  6. My wishlist: bulldoze the park.
  7. It's actually at least an hour drive from LA, assuming no traffic.
  8. Unfortunately it is not that simple. Parks can't just pick whatever suppliers they want. Everything has to be approved by the manufacturer, written into the SOP, and so on and so forth before their insurance companies (and in most cases, state agencies as well) will agree to it. Coasters have un-official expiration dates: guest surveys and ridership numbers, along with maintenance costs.
  9. ^You wouldn't be working for Universal. You would be working for Resorts World Sentosa. I would guess that at best you would get a stipend of some sort. I highly doubt they cover everything.
  10. San Diego is an independent fair. It just so happens RCS books a bunch of rides into there. That's why they have the different spinning mouse.
  11. I'm almost certain it's the same as it has been the last few years... Hi Miler, the spinning mouse, and a couple of kiddie coasters.
  12. ^If you're talented enough to be in a major league rotation...you are capable of a "good outing." His 3-8 record (and 4.69 ERA) seems to indicate you won't be able to count on him every 5th day.
  13. And since the Dodgers also won, it didn't help them in the NL West.
  14. USH is on street view as well.
  15. I'm disappointed about the Haunt lineup this year. Two of the mazes are total rehashes of previous "classics" (C3 and Asylum), the Dia de Los Luertes one isn't even in Fiesta Village, leaving only Terror of London with potential (and given that the Mystery Lodge maze layout doesn't allow for many big spaces, I'm not sure how it's going to turn out).
  16. I doubt Busch Gardens was the first Asylum themed haunt in the history of theme parks...
  17. A letter of intent doesn't mean anything besides "OK, this sounds like it might be cool. Come up with some cash and we'll talk more."
  18. Corey Maggette too! I love how the captions call him a "sports personality" while calling Kobe the MVP. Glad to see everyone had a great time!
  19. I actually enjoyed the show...until the duet. I think it does a great job of being cheesy/over-the-top, which is what they are going for. The problem for them is I don't think guests understand that. The production value is also very high. Great lighting, sound, and set design.
  20. I wouldn't recommend you going. It's a trade show. That means the purpose is to conduct business. Not for manufacturers to be hounded by enthusiasts. It's also not very exciting unless you are there for business purposes. There hasn't even been any big rides on the midway for about 5 years now.
  21. Preparation for the event is already underway. The queue railings have been removed from Mummy.
  22. ^WDI will use trailers. I believe The Timon construction is for adding more spaces/rerouting the tram to prepare for construction.
  23. Whatever the 2010 addition turns out to be, the process for getting it built behind the scenes would have started long before the company filed for Chapter 11. Chances are pretty good money has already been spent on the project.
  24. I wouldn't want my park seen in a horrible Eddie Murphy movie...
