  1. White Castle microwave burgers are already widely available throughout the country.
  2. ^^And instead of saying something like "Oh sorry guys, I got the mailer today. It's going to be April 1st. Here's the scan." you went ahead and called someone an ass. TPR is all about friendly discussion and having fun. Calling someone an ass and then wondering why people might be skeptical is certainly not how you go about having friendly discussion and fun!
  3. ^Uhm...why did you bother to ask when the media day was when it is clearly printed on the back of your invite? It doesn't make you cool just because you are going to media day.
  4. ^So pick whatever school works best for you. How important can rankings really be to you if you were going to let being next to BGT factor into your decision? I'm not really sure anymore if you are asking for our advice or just trying to justify your decision to go where you want to go. I was merely responding to your comment about Harvard. Joe was just trying to help you out, and you went out of your way to discredit his link by mentioning Harvard? Without a doubt, Harvard is one of the most prestigious universities in the country. I'd be willing to bet on the fact that if both myself (a alum of a California State school) and someone else who was a Harvard alum applied for the same job...that degree from Harvard is going to put me at a disadvantage.
  5. ^Parks generally don't send out invites to media days without actual dates, or at the very least tell you how to find that information if it's just a teaser, so I wouldn't say he was trying to be an ass by any means. The fact of the matter is many members on here really would have no idea what day the media day is scheduled for. You should drop the attitude as well. No need to get defensive over something so minor. In fact, if you got invited to the media day...you could contribute to this thread by showing us all the press mailer. Perhaps it is cool, or has some new information?
  6. ^^When a shockwave (usually an earthquake) creates a tsunami, out in deep water, the wave has enough space to spread out. Near the shore, that obviously isn't the case. It's bouncing off the shallower ocean floor, which is what causes the giant waves.
  7. ^^I'd call it a safe bet to say that a degree from Harvard is going to look better on a resume than a degree from most other schools in the country...
  8. ^I'm sure that has a lot more to do with the fact that the airport, Fairgrounds, and Freedom Hall are also close by.... I think the best part about this situation is that no matter what happens, both parties lose. Greed and stupidity at its finest.
  9. That looks like an ARM drop tower.
  10. ^They *COULD* have re-created all those effects. They just didn't want to spend the money. They just wanted to get this open as quick as possible to make a quick buck of MJ's death. Hardly a "tribute." If touring concerts can create effects like those, pack them up, and have them ready in the next city a few days later...there's no reason Disney couldn't have. The only one that would have taken significant effort was the fog, as the LN2 was removed when the theater was changed for HISTA.
  11. Uhm...The business model for Legoland California works because Carlsbad is easy to get to from two major cities, and it's also an actual resort town with beaches/golf/hotel capacity/etc. They're going to be very disappointed if they are expecting to make that area a resort area and have the same success as Carlsbad.
  12. Random side note: Shouldn't Steve Baker be at Hard Rock Park instead of at his Orlando offices getting quoted in the newspaper? Back to the topic... It'll blow over. This is hardly a "PR nightmare". It's just an unfortunate accident that will be forgotten in a week.
  13. You'd be surprised how popular those things are. I'm sure they will do MUCH better business than the Sreamin' Swing! $5 is a small price to pay to not have to walk around the rest of the day with soggy clothes!
  14. Then you should have plenty of proof all this happened. Is there a case # or something we could look up? What was the outcome of the lawsuit? You should have also immediately pressed charges...that's assault.
  15. ^If she was, this whale should DEFINITELY face the death penalty for his crime!
  16. Sounds like the guys mom is in for a big pay day...
  17. The critics of Sea World seem to forget how much GOOD they do as well. Breeding, rescuing, education programs, and so on. This is an unfortunate accident. Nothing more, nothing less.
  18. Press charges. They won't be laughing then.
  19. ^You are wrong. End of story. WET Designs was definitely heavily involved with the project. All that's left for discussion is whether or not The Fountain People were contractors, or came in to finish work since WET was allegedly removed from the project.
  20. ^Why would someone continue to invest in a park they have no more financial stake in?
  21. ^Exactly. Especially considering that when you look at the website for the company, it's all for equipment. No mention of fountain/show design.
  22. There's at least one Top Scan traveling on the east coast, a Swinger that travels on the west coast, and I believe another fair bought a Heartbreaker. It's actually a knock off of the larger version of the freak out: XXL. But this one offers more seats. I would agree there isn't much creativity left in the flat ride market. But I understand why: none of these companies are THAT big as to have huge R&D budgets, since its such a small market for traveling flat rides to begin with. I would guess all the showmen have their favorite manufacturers, so it's hard for a company like Mondial to say no if someone comes up to them and says "I want a better version of this ride..."
  23. ^I would say any day in March will be fine. However, as a warning in general...All the So Cal parks are handing out major "discounts" to locals: Disneyland has the 2fer, Knott's has discounted their pass to $60, Universal is offering the "Buy-a-day, get 2010 free" pass with no blackout dates this year, Sea World is doing a "buy-a-day, get 2010 free" pass, and SFMM has their play pass for $55. All that adds up to the parks being filled with locals taking advantage of those great deals! It's going to be extremely busy at all the parks.
  24. ^^I couldn't do it as a line level employee, but the thought of being a manager on a cruise ship has always intrigued me.
