The most interesting part of all of this is the "unit holder rights plan" which can kick in when someone gets 20% ownership of the company. Just a coincidence that comes right after an investment firm that owns 18% of the company opposed their bailout deal? Cedar Fair needs a new management team ASAP to have any chance of surviving.

^To be fair, there's also a big difference between the OC Register and the Santa Clarita Signal. On a slow news day in a local paper, it doesn't surprise me in the least to have this be news. I would guess this is only a news story because the people were actually charged with something. I guarantee Six Flags and the Sheriff's department still kick out tons of people, but I'm guessing they usually cooperate so no charges are filed.

Photo TR: Fun Fair Aachen (Germany) April 2010

Aside from the frying pan of death (2nd to last photo), seeing these photos has me even more pumped for TPR's Octoberfest trip! The amount of detail in all the "blackflash" on all the European rides is incredible! Not to mention they get all the kick ass rides that are way too expensive/heavy to travel in the U.S.! -

^No. It's almost a clone of Florida (same track layout, mostly the same scenes), but has a different story and some changes to the show. -

^^^Forgive me for not really caring at all about knowing all the NASCAR numbers. Regardless, the point still stands: those trains, and the actual cars for that matter, would look a lot better without so many sponsor stickers plastered on them. None of that changes the fact it's ugly! That's ALL Elissa and I are trying to say. I get that there's reasons NASCAR owners have to plaster their cars in stickers to make money, and I also get that the intent is to be realistic, and that there might be reasons behind the scenes (such as the one you mentioned)....but at the end of the day it's still ugly! -

^That could also just be due to playing it safe and making SURE things are good. Does anyone know if the ride has at least done test cycles? That's probably more telling. -

^I don't know how the voting works, but I would guess he is referring to the internal awards ceremony Six Flags does every year within the chain. I know they do a yearly awards thing where they award GM of the year, best operations, and stuff like that. But I have no idea what the voting criteria is (or who is voting for that matter). -

I'd be curious to know if it was more than just the seat padding. The foam padding on most coasters is usually just glued down or velcroed. I remember working at SFMM when Goliath had a few seat pads fly off too (they were just velcroed on at the time), and that only kept the ride down for 10 minutes to pull off the train (they ended up replacing all the velcro w/ glue after that). So hopefully we're all just assuming the worst and there's not really a major problem! -

^It's a B&M hyper coaster. There's no need to be realistic. This isn't something the Harry Potter Island @ IoA, where the whole point is to transport you into the world of Harry Potter, so "realism" would be important. Just painting the zero-car the colors of Dale Earnhardt's car and putting the 8 on top would have looked much better IMO. -

Elissa was only talking about how it looks on the cars and the coaster. I agree with her. I get that its supposed to look like a NASCAR car, and I get that teams have to pay for their car somehow...but it all looks cheap and tacky. The train (and cars) would probably look a lot better without all the logos tacked on. Oh, and a Babe Ruth coaster would be AWESOME. Cigars, Booze, and sex related things would take the place of the tacky NASCAR logos! -

^Except in those cases, Six Flags isn't doing anything except collecting a check for licensing and consulting fees. Operating SFKK would still cost Cedar Fair millions in staffing/inventory/equipment/etc. Not a smart move by any means. Like I said, the call was just a nice way of saying "we're not touching anything else until all the legal stuff is settled." Neither the fair board or Six Flags are going to do anything until they can reach a settlement as to who exactly owns what. And as it has already been mentioned...no one is going to want to do business with the fair board after this mess unless they get some extremely favorable terms. -

^That's just a nice way of saying "we're not touching anything else right now because its tied up w/ litigation." There's no hope for this park. Who would want to work with the fair board after this mess? -
Six Flags [FUN] Corporate Discussion Thread

Gonna have to disagree with this, as parking at Angel stadium is a pretty decent $8, and $5 if you decide to walk a little bit. $15 is a bit steep, in my opinion. Its one thing if you're at Disneyland and you get a quiet, smooth tram ride all the way to the entrance of the park. But at Six Flags the trains are so old and the tram roads are so bumpy, that the trains rattle, bang and bump the entire ride to the park entrance! So if the park pulls 1000 cars, they're pocketing $15000, and I know Mark says it, but it certainly doesn't seem that they've invested that dough on parking lots very efficiently. Angel stadium is the exception, not the rule. Dodger stadium is $15, Staples is anywhere between $10-100 depending on the event and lot, USC football games are anywhere between $20-100 depending on the lot, the Rose Bowl was $20 last year, and so on. I believe SFMM also recently re-striped a big chunk of their parking lot as well. -

^97% guest satisfaction based on what? That's freaking unheard of in the industry. Not even Disney and Universal get those types of numbers. I get the feeling those numbers are skewered in some way (as in, Six Flags considers a guest satisfied as long as they rate something a 6 or higher on a 1-10 scale or something like that). There's no chance in hell 97% of guests are giving ANY park the highest rating, let alone SFA. -
The WCB 2010 Appreciation Thread

Since all the love thus far seems to be directed at SFMM, lest we forget KBF also hosted an amazing second day of West Coast Bash! -Being the first-ever groups of guests allowed inside the Mine Ride for pictures was a real treat. As someone who works at a park and knows exactly how much planning (and all the approvals) it takes before something like that can happen, I really did appreciate it! I hope they will be able to expand upon the backstage tours for next year. -The Q&A session was great! The guy from Arrow unveiled a new ride concept for us (has that ever happened at a coaster event before?) and was real informative answering any questions. Jeff Tucker was hilarious in handling all of the questions, and all members of the Knott's management team (the GM, operations manager, shows manager, tech services manager, and a haunt designer) were honest and informative in their answers. It's refreshing to be able to get real answers from management like that, instead of the "tow the company line" mentality you see from most enthusiast Q&A's. -How awesome is it that they chose West Coast Bash to unveil a Haunt maze? And to give us an entire concept walk-through of the maze? Again, that is something that has NEVER happened before! Not even websites who have been covering haunt for years get that sort of access! As a member of the "Haunt Family" and a huge haunt fan, that was the highlight for me! Haunt information is usually kept under lock-and-key until August! I hope this is something that can continue to be a part of WCB as well. The event was very much like how Solace used to be: a GREAT coaster event planned/hosted/operated by people who really care about providing the best experience possible for all attendees. Robb, Elissa, Chris, and all members of Knott's management should be applauded for their efforts! May next year be even bigger & better! -
I love this quote. It's exactly what I think of Lady Gaga. She's a talented singer/song writer, but she's not nearly hot enough. So she just stole Madonna and Cher's over-the-top act to have commercial success as well. I just wish she could admit that it is all an act instead of trying to say it is just "an expression of who I am."

^Most members who are genuinely concerned about their post quality would say something like "Apologies. I was posting from my phone. I'll be sure to pay more attention next time!" Instead we got a post that comes off as "I was posting from my phone. what's the big deal?"
