^That was modified when the employee died while attempting to cross the track. Believe it or not, there wasn't a way to stop that chain once a train was cleared to come into the station. ^^That's because with two trains, there's no reason they should be stacking. Like I said, that's PLENTY of time to check a train. The park needs to be doing that with three trains before anyone should really be posting about how much things have improved.
-
^That's still not a very good dispatch. It would still be stacking with 3 trains. That train passing by the lift would be sitting outside the station stacked with 3 trains. Let me say it again: two train operation is not impressive. Seriously, think about it. That's like what, 1:30-2:00 to check a train?
-
Revolutions current trim brakes used to serve as block brakes, which is how the ride ran 5 trains. Goldrusher was able to run 4 trains by having the lift split up into two separate blocks (I can neither confirm nor deny that it was possible to place two trains on the lift ) But more to the point I was getting at... The bottom line is that while there is a lot of good that the new management team deserves credit for, one area they still have lots left to prove in is ride maintenance: show effects are still out at the rides that had them, and rides are still not running at their maximum capacity. The funny part is, in regards to trains online, they are actually doing WORSE than the old management team did. So you'll have to forgive me for being skeptical on the return of Terminators audio. And for those of you who think 2 trains is better: My RRv crew took pride in running 3 trains with no stacking, so I don't buy the "it runs better with 2 trains" excuse AT ALL. It only runs better with 2 trains because the employees suck so much they can't handle three trains (when they are even available in the first place...) It's been so long since I've seen (or read about) 3 trains on any of the rides, I wonder if they even teach the 3 train block checks on the rides anymore?
-
^Two trains isn't full capacity for Goliath, RRv, Viper, or Goldrusher. Even under the old management when I worked there from 2001-2003, those rides ran 3 trains. Nor I have I felt the A/C working in visits over the last 3 years (probably due to the fact that unless things have changed, SFMM only pays for an HVAC technician in the morning.)

^^From the perspective of the guest, all we see is audio that has been out for awhile. In a park that has lost just about all of the extra effects on the rides that had them. So I don't really think it's a stretch at all to think, "great, here we go again." Have some things improved? Sure. But when it comes to themeing, what has the park done besides get the "batfan" effect working again that would make everyone think it's a sure bet the audio will return? There's a lot of things that are probably far less expensive than fixing on-board audio (Riddlers neon, fog in S:TE/B:TR stations, proper station lighting on B:TR like it used to be, maybe even the A/C in S:TE's queues) that have yet to be restored. Or better yet, when is the last time the park has had all their rides running at maximum capacity? How is the park to be expected to fix the audio problems when they can't even keep all their other coaster trains in service?
-
Seriously? The park has gone through an amazing turnaround, is now impressing everyone in multiple areas, and just because the audio hasn't worked for a while it's all back to how SF just gives up & has no motivation/desire to uphold standards??? Quite the unfair statement, IMO. I don't think it is totally unfounded. Terminator is the parks newest major attraction, and their first attempt at real themeing on a major attraction. It's not a stretch to think that the park would want to maintain it, and that the fact they are unable to might be a telling sign that things are not really changing in the long run.

Assuming the rumors about the operation are all correct, how is everyone in the park going to see the show if the seating area really only holds 9-10k? Are the expectations for DCA THAT low? And two shows a night basically means Paradise Pier is closing 2-3 hours earlier for the night. And FWIW, I've found the sitting/standing issue to be entirely based upon where you are in the park. In fact, the first times I saw "Remember..." in front of the castle, they made everyone sit and roped off areas once they became full. I believe the same is true for Fantasmic: certain sections are designated for sitting and some are standing only.

^Their Facebook page is really the only way to follow them. The only set schedule they have is they do a residency @ The Roxy every Saturday in December.

Universal Studios Singapore Discussion Thread
Jew replied to Adriel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All we have right now are rumors. It's not really fair to ANY party involved to place blame at this point. -
They're just following the new trend with theme park resorts: the branding is the resort rather than any one particular park. Of course, I also agree that the natural reaction when you see "wizarding world of harry potter @ Universal Orlando Resort" with no mention of IoA in the advertising is that it is a new park. I don't think it is going to be a big problem though. When you try and buy any of the ticket packages, it more clearly states that it's just a land at IoA and that your package has tickets to both theme parks. I'm sure some people will still miss this and be upset, but I'm also sure UO has a plan in place to deal with that particular situation. I'd guess most people will still walk away happy so long as the land lives up to their expectations.

Camp Freddy last night @ Hollywood and Highland. Great show! As much as I hate Linkin Park, Chester Bennington is a hell of a singer. He nailed the covers of Whole Lotta Love, Mountain Song, and Bullet With Butterfly Wings. For those of you who don't know Camp Freddy...They're an all star cover band
-
I dont know, This summer should be packed! I mean I know 3 kids from my school who are going to Florida just for Harry Potter this summer! I see a HUGE increase in attendance. I can see IOA getting close to 7 million people this year. --Jay Will attendance increase? Absolutely. By nearly 25% from 2008's number? No way.

^Trust me, those listed capacities are not accurate. Theoretically, Space can probably do that many...but the reality is 1800 is around the best they do. Splash Mountains capacity was greatly reduced when they put in individual seat dividers. The 1656 number is based on the old configuration of 7 people max per log. But anyways...the point of all this is simple: the area shouldn't be an "operational nightmare." Two major attractions with decent capacity and a ton of queue, a 2-train roller skater, plus all the other stuff in the area and park....will be more than enough for the park to handle.
-
Operations nightmare? How so? It would be an "operations nightmare" if Wizarding World of Harry Potter was all there is to do at IoA. Good thing there is a bunch of other major attractions to help spread people out. And it's an even better thing that the two major attractions in the area are a dueling B&M Invert with 6 trains available and the new ride which sounds like it will have a decent capacity (if that 1850 number is correct, that will be better than rides like Splash Mountain and Space Mountain at Disneyland...) The roller skater is the two train model. Even the models at both Tokyo Disney Resort parks topped out at a 45 minute wait. And those are the busiest theme parks in the world. Personalized items have been around theme parks for a long time. Is there ever a 2 hour wait for a mickey hat? Ride photo? Crushed penny machine? Are you expecting hand carved wands or something?

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGT Discussion Thread)

That's uh...wow...I don't even know what to say to that. How about you don't say anything? I'm sure he's far from the only person who has no idea who C.C. Sabathia is. Hell, I know who he is and I probably couldn't pick him out of crowd. -
Would you apply to this college or send your kids here??

^When I said no fire, I was specifically talking about the videos that had been released up until that point. The current topic of the thread right now is discussing the video. Just like everyone else, I am giving my opinion based on the video. There's nothing else to be discussing right now, as no one on here has seen the show in person yet. So should everyone stop praising the show until they've seen it too?
-
That's way too long to wait for fire. The slow part of Illuminations drives me nuts for the same reason: I'm not a show person to begin with, so having to stand through what I consider to be slow parts of the show nearly puts me to sleep before the fire barge decides to be awesome. The video just confirms what I was thinking all along: looks great, is a technical marvel, but still doesn't appeal to me that much. Needs more fire (the only part of the video that I was really interested in was the fire). Adding color to the Bellagio fountains doesn't excite me at all.
