  1. ^Agreed. I found the info on the train to Happy Valley in 5 minutes using google!
  2. You can take the train to Happy Valley. But for American citizens, you need a Chinese visa. You can't get the 5 day one offered in the station.
  3. I wonder if the failure of Ring Racer had any influence on Stan's decision to sell... I personally think Arrow's back catalog is only valuable for the parts/maintenance aspect. So many parks have Arrow flumes, loopers, or mine trains that will always need parts and maintenance services.
  4. There is about 1,000,000 things I would rather do than buy a crappy old wooden roller coaster without a plan to return it to operation.
  5. I would beg to differ. If they were doing it right, the public announcement would have had all the details. I understand not talking about a potential sale, but there is no reason they shouldn't have been able to tell us their plan for the proper removal/storage of the ride. I would love to give these guys a chance, but I know nothing about them or their plan. If the announcement was something like "We've bought the coaster and (insert company name with wooden roller coaster experience like GCI, PTC, Gravity Group, etc.) has graciously decided to help us with the relocation..." they would have A LOT more support.
  6. ...and they offer the ride experience of a flat ride. A bad one. Like a Screamin Squirrel. I'd be pissed if I had to wait for that.
  7. Secrecy=something to hide. Not the best strategy for gathering donations. If there really are industry people involved with the project, the fact that they have yet to come forward says a lot about the project to me...
  8. Guys, this is the SFMM thread. No need for bickering about usernames. Consider this a warning.
  9. Who needs engineers when you can use volunteers instead?
  10. I'm sure the workers were violating some sort of OSHA regulations by not blocking the area off... I'd also be willing to bet that every single person in this thread saying the girl was at fault has been in a situation where you've tripped, bumped into something or someone, and so forth because you weren't paying attention. We're humans. The circumstances are just funnier and a little more unique in this girls case, but I am sure we've all been victims of our own carelessness numerous times as well....
  11. The two girls Joe and I were talking to on the Friday where we hung out at one of the outside beer stand places both said that they enjoyed some fair that came in August because there was no tourists. I agree that every local we talked to was friendly, but am I sure the massive amount of visitors makes it the most "commericialized/annoying" of the fairs. Oh, I also disagree that Americans only go to Löwenbräu, considering that the table we sat at outside the Spaten tent included someone from the valley (half way around the world and I bump into someone from my area??). Tourists were everywhere inside every unreserved section of every tent we walked through trying to find a seat (or finding one, as was the case at Spaten and Hofbrau). It would actually only be 2 new credits for most, as the major coaster over there is Lazer. Wasn't really worth the trip on our last day in town (it started Saturday, departure day was Sunday!).
  12. Southwest has already said they will fly both the 717's and 737's, and also exercise AirTran's options for 737's. They are also looking at buying the 737-800 now that they have all these extra routes.
  13. ^That was when they were trying to cut costs for the potential Apollo buyout. I'd be willing to bet the new senior management team is making SF as lean as possible so they can unload their stakes in the company...
  14. ^What are they preparing for, a nuclear holocaust? The amusement industry isn't suffering to the point where it requires raping the management team from top to bottom. In fact, Cedar Fair reported a gain in revenue for the 3rd quarter, not a MAJOR reduction of its management team to "survive."
  15. ^But there isn't going to be "new owners to take a certain amount of the debt previously owed." That's the whole point of the lawsuit: the other creditors don't want the proceeds from the inevitable auction of everything individually going to FPI US before them.
  16. ^There isn't going to be new owners. That's the whole point of the scam. The one company they own (FPI US) holds a $25 million mortgage over the other company they own (FPI MB Entertainment). FPI US is trying to foreclose on FPI MB Entertainment so they can jump to the front of the creditors line. If that goes through, I am sure there will then be an auction to liquidate the assets...so they can make $25 million off of other peoples stuff, leaving those other creditors with only pennies on the dollar.
  17. Southwest is my choice for shorthaul flights out of Burbank...if this merger can get me from Burbank to more places non-stop, I am all for it.
  18. ^Your description of Visionland is pretty much how lots of the smaller Chinese parks were. They had some nice sections/rides, mixed in with lots of "WTF?" stuff like no shade, bad themeing, bad layouts, and so on...
  19. That's the whole point of their scam. They got $400 million bucks initially for Hard Rock Park, went bankrupt, bought it back for $25 million, and now are trying to walk away with the property debt free again...so they call sell everything off for more than $25 million. These people are just desperate property owners trying to save their life savings (the people behind HRP/FMP were the ones who failed at developing that shopping/entertainment area). I hope everyone wins judgements to take their equipment out of there, so they are left with nothing to sell.
  20. This memo posted on Screamscape should make it clear which direction the company is headed: bigtime cost cutting to make it attractive for investors. Welcome back to the Premier management days!
  21. Quite frankly, you couldn't be more off based. Despite my best efforts, Elissa has been great in teaching Kristen the difference between right and wrong. So anything Piers says will be sure to go right over her head or filed in the "bad" category. Besides that, I'm pretty sure Piers is just out to have a good time and doesn't really care what happens along the way.
  22. Two things: Joe also drank that much beer. and... We can still function because we aren't little bitches like you!
  23. Sure looks like two all new mazes to me... Oh, and this is a pretty sweet deal: See Rob Zombie in Concert AND get a ticket to HHN!
  24. I think Elissa's point was that one park not yet fully developed didn't stop them from expanding at WDW, so it certainly shouldn't stop them at DLP either. FWIW, this to me seems like a procedural move. Get the approvals now so construction is ready when the time is right. Just like USH is doing with their vision plan.
