  1. Aside from super long lines at the front desk, everyone we encountered was great.
  2. I feel like this was Adam's version of a porn convention.
  3. Will post some photos later, but last week I was able to stay in a Wraparound Terrace Suite at the Cosmopolitan. Have to say that it was by far the best standard product in Vegas. Can't beat the views, and the suite itself was also very nice for the price (originally intended to be a condo).
  4. It's still going to turn out to be at worst the 2nd best ride in the park. That's A(u) OK in my book! Glad the park is finally getting another major ride.
  5. I'm 100% sure they could find a vendor somewhere that still has the part they need, so I wouldn't say it is that drastic. But I'll never say anything bad about parks taking care of their rides. The doors look like themeing to me.
  6. Knott's can't go wrong either way. A new thrill ride or a coaster with a lower height requirement would both be great additions to their collection.
  7. That logic doesn't make any sense. Parks don't make their profits from admissions (let alone on season passes---where for accounting purposes, it shows up as like $6/month in revenue, since you have to spread it out over the entire life of the pass). Parks want people in their park spending money on food/merchandise/games/ride photos/premium products/etc. because that is where the real profit is at. The more logical explanation is that attendance in general was low to begin with, combined with the fact the guests in the park were already getting a bad experience with so many rides closed for rain...it just made more sense to shut the park down than to deal with the weather. I'll never forget how annoyed I was with Cedar Point for its crappy rain policy, dealing with rides going up and down all day...I actually would have preferred they just shut down, so I could have just left for the day instead of battling ride closures/rain off and on the whole day trying to get all my credits. With the theme park experience you claim to have, you should know better than most that things change on the fly. I'm sure they gave you the best information they had at the time.
  8. Nope. Same rule still applies. Just read the Disney specific forums. They're crazier than coaster enthusiasts.
  9. I would say that it is hard to call any park that has spent $20 million on new rides over the last three years cheap. That doesn't even count whatever they are going to pay for this new ride as well. Does it mean they got the most bang for their buck? It's easy to live in a dream world and say that money would have been better spent on some 10,000ft long intamin terrain woodie airtime machine...but that's exactly why enthusiasts would make terrible park GM's. Six Flags still has a business to run. Terminator was a 10000% upgrade over Psyclone, Green Latern is unique to the U.S. (even if Six Flags runs it like sh*t), and LL is still the tallest drop ride. Hard to argue they are making bad business decisions with investment choices like those (especially given the cheaper costs and how they perfectly fit SFMM's business model).
  10. Maybe.... Between Superman, Au13, and now this...I'm in if this comes to be!
  11. ^That's probably a culture shock for a team in the SEC. Was Mid-Alaska Tech not available?
  12. Cedar Fair promised to preserve sections of Ghost Town+build GhostRider and keep investing in the park. Other offers probably couldn't match that.
  13. Before Silver Bullet construction obliterated the middle of the park, Knott's did actually have the "original" berry stand and some Boysenberries that came from the "original" vines. Would be nice to see a Knott's museum built either across the street or somewhere in the park (they already have the Ghost Town museum as it is---it should have a larger theme park exhibit). If I remember right, the store in Ghost Town that sells all the Knott's food products actually does have some sort of "grow your own" kit.
  14. Perhaps it is because each time SFMM is on the verge of announcing a new ride, we all desperately want it to not fall into line with the majority of the rides we have in CA (read: mediocre).
  15. Aside from Tatsu, the coasters are SFMM are the epitome of mediocre. Hopefully this ride changes that...
  16. ^True, but that doesn't mean boosters took advantage of a loophole (no way the NCAA is touching on religious freedom) to show their thanks to him. Cam Newton's family did the same thing (perhaps they even got the idea based off of Tebow?)...only they were dumb and more open about it. Personally, I think people are just hating on Lane Kiffin because his wife is ridiculously hot. He's a saint compared to most SEC coaches!
  17. To clarify, I don't think the chicken is bad. I just think you can tell that Cedar Fair has changed some things from the original recipe (I'm guessing where they sourced things from probably changed). They've recently made a big push to improve food offerings in the park, so hopefully that means the chicken dinner can return to a higher quality recipe.
  18. I totally agree and the park is very nice too and the chicken dinners..... mmmmm Maybe it's just me, but I definitely think the quality of the chicken dinner restaurant has gone way down.
  19. I was referring to Tim tebow. It wasn't much of a secret Florida boosters decided to donate a ton of money to the tebow family ministry during his recruitment. (To be fair, there is so many shady things going on in the world of college football and basketball, it's really just a matter of who the media/NCAA decide they want to vilify...no doubt every program in the country is guilty of something) But anyways... BTW, Is Urban Meyer really any worse than Lane Kiffin?
  20. Said "dolt" has an athletic director always looking over his shoulder. He'll be OK. Not like he has boosters donating to star players fathers ministries like Florida and auburn.
  21. Looks like the small town version of a Ripley's Believe it or Not!
  22. Your blog already touches on this a little bit...but I think people would like to know more about how manufacturers are consistently involved with their rides after they have been built and delivered. Warranty, parts supplier, tech consulting, rehabs, etc.
  23. ^You are correct.
  24. The Nike backing is the only reason they are relevant. Prior to last year, their last Rose Bowl win was in 1917. Phil Knight has major penis envy. USC built the McKay center, so he threw down for an expansion to Oregon's football complex.
  25. ^You can almost get that experience in Altoona, PA. The Pirates AA team (Altoona Curves) play in a stadium where the Lakemont Park Skyliner is just on the other side of the right field fence.
