  1. Never knew this coaster existed. Shame a life was lost.
  2. At least it isn't a giant cover up this time!
  3. ^You can disagree with his statement all you want, but "what a stupid comment" is probably not the best way to go about it. Please use a more respectful tone when replying.
  4. How you know it has been awhile since northern california has had something exciting to anticipate: a two page discussion on airgates.
  5. It's been like that for almost the last 10 years. 2003-2005 was when things got terrible.
  6. I didn't know you were such a big iwerks theater fan. Great updates! Wish I could have gone on this trip!
  7. And so the raising of "red flags" begin... "More expensive than we thought"=the state better give us what we want or we're going to conveniently not be able to get the extra financing we need to cover those costs.
  8. Oddly enough, Proslide was founded to copy White Water West...White Water West started in 1980, with Pro Slide coming along six years later in 1986. I would say that White Water West is the clear leader in the play structure department. But more relevant to this thread, I'd say their product is also the more intense version, as it is closer to a true loop.
  9. I'll add some for the So Cal parks: -SFMM for Breakfast/Lunch: Jimmy Dean's on the old road. Instead of going up the hill to SFMM, turn right on The Old Road for about a mile or so and you'll see it by the Del Taco/Gas Station/Jack in the Box. Ridiculously good breakfast burritos and decent burgers. -USH for lunch/dinner: City Wok. Instead of going up the hill to USH, continue down cahuenga blvd. It' in the shopping center with the Ralphs. Really good Chinese food! -Disneyland whenever:Oggi's. Good craft beer and decent food! Head down Harbor and turn right at Chapman.
  10. ^I could see MGM stepping up to finish it on the cheap. They are in the process of giving Mandalay Bay a complete makeover (I'll have an update tonight) to keep people down on that end of the strip, so that could definitely help. And if they get the arena built behind NYNY/Monte Carlo, they could connect the existing Mandalay/Luxor/Excalibur monorail to the Monte Carlo/Bellagio/City Center one, extend it to this property...and their guests would never have to leave MGM properties.
  11. I really wish Southern California had been able to keep more of its pier amusement parks operating. That ride looks insane!
  12. I don't think it is about the intensity as much as the maintenance. Flat rides at theme parks are going to put in A LOT more cycles than the traveling rides (maintenance on rides goes by # of cycles in addition to daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly), and also don't have the advantage of being disassembled every week.
  13. ^Right. They just completely re-did the queue layout (to hold more guests) and added restrooms down there. It will definitely be interesting to see how everything fits in.
  14. It would definitely be a park I would try and get out to in 2014 as well, since that might be the last chance to get those credits.
  15. ^They're blocked out because it is Memorial Day weekend.
  16. ^Or like many of us on here, it simply doesn't interest us at all.
  17. ^I'm thinking you are correct. That one is backed by Ceasars, and the anchor of the new "Quad" retail/dining area they are building.
  18. ^That's amazing! I would be terrified, yet think it is the greatest thing ever.
  19. It's good to see that they feel more confident in the ride to the point that they will now allow express access.
  20. Easily theme parks. Atmosphere adds so much to the experience.
  21. Six Flags has tiers, Universal (both coasts) have VIP tours and regular FOL access, Disney is rolling out MyMagic+ as an incentive to get guests to stay on property...so good for Cedar Fair for keeping up with the industry.
  22. Yeah, how dare they remove a low capacity ride with low reliability for something with a higher capacity, lower height requirement (or so we can only only hope), and much better reliability.
  23. This sums up perfectly why Tim is such a polarizing figure. Everything is always about him, instead of all the guys working their ass off so "his" rides can actually operate.
  24. Ninja used to have 4. Two have been cannibalized for parts.
