  1. ^Once the whole park area is completed, I imagine that outdoor space could easily replace the bridge as a special events area.
  2. ^Not at all! FYI: There's even going to be an EDC festival in Orlando in November!
  3. Draft picks are definitely at a premium now with the new salary cap structure. Lots of NHL ready (or close to it) in first couple rounds. The challenge in the second round is signing those guys away from their college or junior team.
  4. I love that their spokesperson gets it with social media, telling people to like their facebook page for the latest updates. It's crazy how many PR people are still stuck in the past...
  5. You guys would all be doing the same thing if you were in Prudentials shoes. I agree like everyone else that there should be a fair compromise, but Prudential has to protect its business interests. Here's the listing for one of the buildings in the office complex: http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/16523611/4555-Great-America-Parkway-Santa-Clara-CA/ So $30/Sqft if a company leases for a year... All three of the buildings account for 645,651sqft of office total space. 30x645,651=$19,369,530 in just the office space rent. There's additional revenue from the parking, building management fees, and all that other fun stuff as well. And of course, there's property taxes to be paid on that as well. Plus the high tech jobs it brings to the city. So who do you think the city is going to side with?
  6. ^^There's conflicting reports as to whether or not the Bridge is staying. It is also being speculated the 9-11 memorial (shirts in the display case) and Statue of Liberty lagoon are goners, so the Statue can become another pedestrian entrance into the building.
  7. ^She's engaged to the founder/CEO of Insomniac (the production company that does EDC)...so now she's always around at the events dressed like that!
  8. ^^On the flip side, they did do a big media thing for the Monstrous Summer announcement/preview of upcoming attractions/Disney Magic upgrades at WDW....so I don't think you can really say they have a true pattern of how they announce things. But your point about blogs also just reinforces my point---D23 is not the most effective way to make announcements. This also proves my point---Fans getting upset Disney made "their" event appeal to wider audience. How dare they!
  9. If you insist.... Here's Holly Madison (in the Yellow & Black) if that counts! ...Or you can play your very own game of Where's Waldo and find a hot chick amongst the crowd.
  10. Agreed. If they showed the same care as they did with the murals through the rest of the park---I can only imagine how nice the park would be.
  11. ^The fans don't have media outlets to help Disney get their message out. What the fans do have is a history of complaining, feeling entitled, not spending money in the parks, etc. I think Disney did the right thing in saving announcements for press events, where they are sure the news will be spread throughout all media channels (and not ripped apart because they are essentially bribing the press with free booze/food).
  12. As I have said numerous times in this thread, I think the main problem the park had is not doing anything to get people away from the beach/resorts they were staying it. It probably could have survived if they partnered with local hotels/resorts and offered a good, free, shuttle network.
  13. Ed Hart hasn't operated Magic Springs since 2008.
  14. ^It's currently caught up in a convoluted web of bankruptcy and lawsuits. From what I can gather, basically the same ownership group keeps mortgaging and foreclosing on themselves. It's all so sketchy.
  15. Tonnerre De Zeus is the only ride I have really enjoyed in the rain. It hauled MAJOR ass.
  16. ^I imagine with mirrors, that is very much possible.
  17. Disney fans can really never be pleased. Wasn't a big complaint of D23 that the parks & resorts presentation was full? So now that they add a bunch of extra parks stuff to the smaller theaters, people are upset there's no new announcements? Personally, I don't think D23 is the best venue for a major announcement in the first place---one of their typical big press events (with free food/booze/hotels for media) is much more effective.
  18. Why do I get the feeling the ship is still being cleaned after Adam's time on the ship?
  19. They're not wasting any time on construction...A lane of traffic is closed going Southbound on the strip to become the sidewalk. Another themed resort gets its themeing undone by MGM Drained and ready to be torn up.
  20. ^Thankfully the ratio seemed to be the opposite...but just that one was enough to do some damage.
  21. ^Can't wait to see what that will possibly mean!
  22. Sounds like there might have been a power outage/surge. Honestly, Jay may have set a good example, but I got the feeling no one bought into what he was trying to sell after awhile. I felt like things reverted back to their historical (crappier) levels after his first year. But lets be honest---until Six Flags decides to invest real money in their employees in the form of real perks/benefits besides free tickets, a better employee cafeteria, pays them more than minimum wage, offers competitive salaries to their management, etc...nothing is going to change. There has to be an actual support system in place for a culture change to succeed. To me, the perception of Bonnie as "the ice queen" is just her conceding the fact she will make no change to the culture because that's not their business model. A perfect example: the mechanics/electricians responsible for the rides seem to bail on SFMM as soon as there are openings at other theme parks. Because the pay and benefits are FAR less than what they can get at USH or DLR...even after they had to fight hard to unionize 10 years ago.
  23. ^Why wouldn't he be upset? He had already invested time & money into his proposal, only to have someone undercut him. And later walk away from the project. Maybe he was telling the truth all along, and it wasn't "mudslinging?"
  24. ^Good find. That looks like it would have been the most well done part of Hard Rock Park.
