I didn't realize we had so many structural engineers on TPR! We won't be able to judge how the ride ages until it…you know, actually ages. So it's kind of a moot point at this time. I'm still just happy/surprised the park even made it to the point they are adding a new coaster in the first place.

Honestly, for future West Coast Bashes...I'll totally be spending my entire day in that bar, rather than actually being in the park while we wait between events!

There could be 100 different reasons why they chose that style, but at the end of the day does it really matter? So long as the ride is structurally sound, does it matter at all? I doubt the park is telling Chance, "Sorry, this style of track doesn't look cool enough! We want that OTHER style of track!"

It will end up being settled, so this is all just standard legal wrangling. It's just like dealing with your car insurance company after an accident. Even if you are the primary cause of the accident, you might still argue the other party shares some of the blame since they too did something wrong. They're basically suing each other to try and spread out the liability, since ultimately both companies insurance will be settling with the family.

Smart move for SFMM. There's probably a lot of parents who will be hanging out there all day while their teenage kids ride the coasters.

I think Super Silly Fun Land is going to be a surprise hit. Definite upgrade over Curious George when it comes to having a family area.

Being from Germany, I imagine not lots of Las Vegas news makes it that way... The removal of Speed was one of the moves SBE made prior to the SLS being built. SBE has owned the property since 2007, shut down the Sahara in 2011, and didn't start reconstruction until last year because they were struggling to raise the money. Speed was closed for six months in 2008-2009 while SBE figured out WTF they wanted to do.

^Let's be honest...they're probably just happy to be there and hooking up with people from all over the world for a few weeks while someone else is footing the bill.

Quick update…though USH has yet to announce anything officially, I think it is safe to say carnival games are growing in Simpsons Plaza... Off to the side, what appears to be a basketball game is already up. I love the name! The frames for the entrance area games are already up! Also off to the side, this sign is up! Also love this name!

They're doing an EDC in Mexico City now…looks like I may have to volunteer to work that one next year! Ride looks great.

I'm actually more curious to see how the businesses themselves do. The wheel is sure to bring a lot of curious folks in, but the question is will they spend money at the Linq? I'm sure the Yardhouse will do amazing business, but the other places may have to try harder. I'm also curious about the reaction. I am sure there are some cool things being planned for the pods, but I personally think keeping people entertained/spending money is going to be a challenge. "Ok, I got the cool strip views and my photos…now what? I'm still stuck here for another half hour…"

True but I think they are not repainting Xcelerator's track because they painted the supports a couple of years ago and Xcelerator doesn't look that bad. Compared to the coasters up north(scream, viper ,riddlers) Xcelerator looks okay. I think what it comes down to is logistics: there's no easy way to do it without spending lots and/or shutting the ride down.

I guess a day trip to vegas is coming on my next day off…looks awesome!

^Just a hunch…but I suspect it is a bit easier to repaint pony express than it is Xcelerator.

I'm sure it will still do insane business, but for me personally, I'd much rather get a nice view of the strip for free in the lobby bar of the Mandarin Oriental! It's just about as quiet there as one of the pods would be too!

^If injuries were really a concern, they wouldn't have forced USC to play so short handed...so that's just a convenient excuse. However, I do think there is some validity to the argument. Hurry up/no huddle offenses do rarely snap the ball that quick. They'll just get everyone lined up as quick as possible and wait at the line for the play call, which takes away the defenses ability to substitute. It's abusing a loophole in the rules. I think a better application of the rules would be that the penalty should apply if you line up quick and then DON'T snap the ball by the 25 second mark.

So far i have seen nothing on USA & MSNBC. Didn't NBC used to show Olympics on these channels previously? So far everything seems to be limited to NBCSN which i don't get They use all the channels at various times throughout the day. nbcolympics.com has the channel lineup.

^It's 2014. I don't think there is any reason to doubt what can be done. Especially after all those years of "they can't put a drop tower on S:TE," which was something even I believed.
