  1. I think making the fee "a bit steep" is the main idea. I just don't like the $25 flat charge. I would think it would be more fair to have the hourly rate like they did before. Using the new 1hr and 3hr model with an hourly rate after. I can just see people spending the time eating and shopping, spending money, and then 4 hours later getting an additional $25 charge after spending a lot already. I mean, if someone is there longer then 3 hours and they didn't go into the park, odds are they spent a lot of money in the marketplace. I think it is obvious the main point of this is to deter annual pass holders from using the marketplace for free parking. I imagine/hope they would make exceptions for people with bags full of purchased items or giant tabs at Friday's.
  2. He was my doppelganger...I wonder if I can fill in for him on the next Hunger Games? Seriously though, it's always sad to lose someone to addiction. It's much more complicated (and tragic) than just "they chose to do drugs/alcohol...sucks for them," even if it was their choice to head down that path.
  3. ^Well, the marketplace parking is essentially preferred parking if you use it for the theme park. Closest lot to the park.
  4. I predict that it will be a restaurant where go-go dancers juggle cats while people watch sports. That would be the best attraction at SFMM!
  5. Honestly, that promo looked TERRIBLE. The series I am sure will still be awesome, but that was so obviously green screen it looked bad. Same for the new Transformers teaser…that also looked like TERRIBLE CGI. As far as which ads I liked…The muppets one, 80's radio shack, Stephen Colbert, and the Seinfeld ones were the ones I enjoyed.
  6. Fight On to Pete Carroll! Only the 3rd coach with a college national title and NFL title!
  7. For those of you who liked to take advantage of the Marketplace parking lot to enjoy a stroll around the park/grab some quick rides…Beginning March 1, parking will only be free for 1 hour without a proof of purchase from a store or restaurant in the Marketplace. Still will be free for 3 hours with proof of purchase. Otherwise you'll get charged a flat rate of $25.
  8. I know what I am doing my first day off after the ride opens!
  9. I was not a fan of Smashburger at all. Overpriced for what it is (a decent burger).
  10. Very cool of the park to do this. Too bad they weren't serving real food.
  11. I thought it ran great during it's opening year. Unfortunately, going back to ride it again is quite expensive, so my only impression of the ride is based on that. That's why there is a column asking if you have been on a ride in the past year or not in the poll, to try and account for that!
  12. ^They had to ditch the Gansevoort partnership because of the owners alleged ties to the Russian Mob, but it looks like they just slapped a new name on it and kept the same interior designs. I'm personally thrilled to have Drai's back. After hour parties don't get better!
  13. Even Mooseburger is barely above normal SFMM. Before they closed it, it was pretty obvious they went away from using different stuff than the rest of the park. Again, same patty with a nicer bun!
  14. I'm not one of those people who think In-N-Out is the greatest thing ever (though it is really damn good for the price), but I would NEVER recommend eating at Johnny Rockets inside SFMM (which really just feels/tastes like a regular SFMM burger with a nicer bun) over leaving the park for real food!
  15. The old bridge/playhouse structure/complex was the best part (aside from the Huff-N-Puff of course) of Camp Snoopy as a kid!
  16. ^Nice touch! Actually having Camp Snoopy be themed to a camp again, instead of just a collection of rides based on Snoopy characters that started out as a camp theme and lost touch with future additions.
  17. There is no point in further discussing this "rule." Please get back on the topic of discussing SFMM.
  18. We're a pretty good source of SFMM information here. No need to go anywhere else. I'll be doing updates at least every few weekends (if not every weekend). That will be the end of the discussion.
  19. What is really impressive is that $1.2 billion might equal the entire total GE spent on the parks the whole time they owned them! Aside from Potter and Transformers at USH, they basically added a bunch of low budget attractions to the parks.
  20. The 80's one is pretty brilliant. Love that Delta has fun with these videos.
  21. ^I don't think any of us have ever doubted that. As it has been discussed over and over again in this thread, the problem with their business model is that it relies upon big capital spending every year. It will be very interesting to see how this year turns out, with the big addition being B:TR backwards for spring break only. Colossus backwards probably won't have as big an impact, since most of the local market has already experienced that during one of the many Fright Fest's it has already run backwards. I doubt there will be any records being broken this year.
  22. ^Your link is to Smith & Wollensky's from last year. Also a very good steakhouse in Vegas!
  23. I agree with Elissa. Every cruise line gets hits by Norovirus outbreaks. That's just what happens when you have thousands of people in a confined space. People who go on shore excursions, share buffets and common areas, etc. You could, however, argue the reason cruise line troubles make national news now is because of Carnival's recent troubles. Producers discovered how good the coverage can be because of that!
  24. If it was the Dynamic Structures alleged demo video, that video has been removed from youtube.
  25. ^The Pro Bowl hasn't been exciting…ever? No one tries out of fear of injuring themselves. It's a joke.
