I just tried Quizno's for the first time tonight, and they got my vote immediately
-
Out of all the Sub chains out there, the two big ones seem to be Subway and Quizno's these days. I thought this over, because a Quizno's just opened here in town, and I tried one of their sandwiches. Compared to Subway, Quizno's has better bread, they have slightly better ingredients, and I like the way they flavor their meat. Both chains can toast their subs now, but Quizno's basically has better toasting bread, and it doesn't smoosh up as easily. So my vote between the two is for Quizno's. I'd love to hear what the rest of you think.

^ I kind of figured that. I've been saying to people around my home that the only reason The Omen remake was thrown together was for the gimmick release date of 6/6/06.

I was so disappointed by X-Men: The last stand. There was soooooo much wasted potential. What was once a great superhero team movie franchise, was turned into the Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry show. 4/10 Over The Hedge, on the other hand, was a very nice surprise. I figured anything that has Steve Carrel and Bruce Willis was going to be at least pretty good, but this film had an all around great sense of humor. 9/10

Wow...Arizona sure has a lot of furry mascots. I'm having flashbacks from that South Park episode, "Sexual Harassment Panda."

That's so cool. I remember hearing that music before the coaster opened in 2000. I was finishing my freshman year in college, and thanks to a link from my dad, I downloaded the advertising video and watched the thing constantly. I couldn't wait to ride it after that. Thanks for helping me re-live another fond memory of CP...now if I could just find that commercial again...

The Official "TPR 2006 UK Tour" Thread!
Movieguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Heck yeah! As TPR's family grows, this place could become a great source of publicity for lesser known parks. I mean, if it weren't for TPR, I would have never known that the disgusting awesomeness known as BobBon Land even existed. This is the kind of work these guys deserve at least a little compensation for. -
Well, here in the States, they just finished off the 2-part season finale with Cristopher Eccleston's doctor, who of course regenerates at the end. I just have to say it was awesome to see the daleks return for one last hurrah. Plus, I've gotten a hold of one of the Tennant episodes, "Rise of The Cybermen." I haven't watched it all, but I have changed my thinking on Tennant somewhat, now that I'm a bit more familiar with the Doctor Who franchise. Tennant's performance now actually reminds me a little of Colin Baker, without the stuck up attitude or violent mood swings he had at first, with just a hint of Peter Davison mixed in. That's not a bad thing though. I think maybe Mr. Tennant realizes what I did, that Colin Baker gave an interesting performance, but was never given a chance by a BBC that didn't realize that the actual reason for Doctor Who's ratings slip in the 80's was due to a poor writing staff, and even worse costume department.

I love me some Top Spins as well...I didn't use to, until my sister dragged me onto the one at Kennywood. And I've seen the ones with the independantly rotating arms...there was this video of one at a German Fair called "Discovery"...that thing was insane! It just kept flipping you and flipping you, and at one point had you facing straight down as these water fountains slowly came up towards your face, along with red lighting and smoke effects. I also enjoy those Orbitors, along with any KMG Afterburner.

Awesome video! That looks great, all those TPR people along with Robb and Elissa on that trip. I would have considered going, but I've got sooooooo much on my mind right now. I'm finally looking at places to move into now that I've got some money. I was considering Seattle at first, but then decided I wanted to be a bit closer to home in an area I'm more familiar with, so now I'm looking at Pittsburgh. All this has meant no time for coasters, unfortunately, but hey, you never know. Summer's still yet to really come up here, and in Pittsburgh I'd have Kennywood as a hometown park. But enough about me! I love getting to see all those pics from all the international trips. Legoland in Windsor looks far more impressive than I even imagined. Fun, fun, fun. -
New Wizard Of Oz Theme Park!
Movieguy replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's a nice idea, but forget it...It's New York State we're talking about here. We've got the DestiNY USA deal controversy in Syracuse, a plan to make the city's mall the largest in the country. It was supposed to start taking shape some time in 2003, and we still haven't seen one brick yet, because the stupid council keeps getting in the way with votes and stuff. Taxes are too high in NY, and There's too much bueracracy to interfere with progress. Nothing ever gets done here. -
Ugly Roller Coaster
Movieguy replied to Lord Kotowa's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I always thought Wildcat at CP looked kinda ugly and out of place...but it doesn't hold a candle to old 12-E... http://www.rcdb.com/ig19.htm?picture=1 -
That may be true, but winning championships takes years and years to pull off. The Texans need to start selling tickets now, or they're headed off to Los Angeles.
-
^ You're kidding, right? The Texans made a huge error in selecting Mario Williams. Defensive #1 picks almost always turn out to be busts (See: Dan Wilkenson), and the last thing they needed was to piss off David Carr by not giving him the support his offensive unit desperately needs. And the Cardinals?...the Cardinals will always suck...that's just the way it is.

Silent Hill...8/10 Wow...that's all I have to say about this movie. While flawed, it's still the best video game to movie adaptation I have EVER seen. It's a bit long winded in some of the explanations, but it has a nice, creepy atmosphere, and some decent gore effects, which I'm always on the look out for in the sea of PG-13 horror.

I know...Steel has so many things going for it. Height, loops, smoother rides...it's seems pretty clear that most of the general public want steel coasters too, so that doesn't help woodies much either.
-
What on earth has been happening with woodies nowadays? Back in the late 80's and early 90's, the Summers/Dinn coasters seemed to be the best thing that ever happened to woodies, and now pretty much all of them are rough, slowed down, and just plain suck, with one (Hercules) gone alltogether. And now I hear some of the GCI and CCI/Gravity Group coasters, like Gwazi or Ghostrider, are starting to suffer from the same symptoms very slowly. What's going on? We've got all these great old wooden coasters that have been running since the 1920's (Kennywood's Jack Rabbit and Thunderbolt immediately come to mind), and yet almost everything with wood that's been built since the 80's has been suffering a slow decline. It's like that conversation in Blade Runner..."We built you as well as we could build you..." "But not to last..."

hmmmm... how about "That's What Friends are For" by Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Gladys Knight? It's a bit cheesy, granted, but I heard it played at a graduation once, and I thought it sounded nice.

NEWS: The Quest is over for DisneyQuest WDW
Movieguy replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to this place in 1999 and I loved it, really loved it. I'm gonna miss it, but I can see why this place needs to change after going there last summer. There wasn't much of anything new, and the place was basically suffering from the fact that Arcade games, by and large, have sucked since 1999...I mean, at that point, the place had that big "Star Wars" game, and "House of The Dead 2"...compare that to what's been there lately. -
Oh yeah, I love Vault too. It helps fill the void for me, from when Surge went off the market. I miss that stuff so much.

I sometimes have Pepsi when I'm in the mood for something sweet, but I usually prefer Coke, because it has more of a bite to it. I also love Barq's root beer, especially in the summer for some reason. And I love ALL forms of Dr. Pepper. Original, diet (which DOES taste just like regular, IMO), The Cherry Vanilla, and even that new Berries and Cream flavor they just put out. Doug "There should be a law stating that only Dr. Pepper is allowed to try new flavors!" Booth

Eurosat at Europa Park

I've read about the quick-moving queue on Coasterkingdom's website...they said it was a real monument to German efficiency. -
Hell yes! I'd love to see the Cybermen come back. They were awesome.
-
Hmmmm...perhaps Billie Piper should be given the Adric treatment then...

I'm not a really big sports fanatic, but I do have some idea what goes on thanks to Sportscenter. When the post-season comes in any sport, the only playoffs I can get into are the ones from the NFL and NCAA basketball, because of the fact they're both single-elimination. I mean, really. I've never gotten the appeal of these "Best of seven" playoff series. In my mind, they're designed solely to sell more tickets, and the teams can get lazy and over-confident when no real threat of elimination is against them. Plus in the Best of Seven, there's less chance of any upsets, as the richer and more powerful teams use the extra games to their advantage. The only sport where I have seen a fair share of upsets in this system has been MLB. This is why I can't really get into the NBA. It got a bit tough to stay excited, when you knew that some powerhouse like the Bulls, and later the Lakers, or Spurs were going to steamroll over everyone. And as much as I like the NHL's rule changes, it's gonna be hard to stay interested in their post-season with powerful teams like the Devils and Red Wings (The NY Yankees of the NHL, as I call them) having clear advantages. Doug "This is why on any sports video game I play, I ALWAYS make the playoffs single elimination" Booth
