Way back in this topic, but who cares... The Europa Park folder is so ridiculously German Showing the university titels of the owners (The fact that they even show them), all about gaining thrust which is really important in Germany (Yes Germans, that's why you are so "Grundlich'). Showing how they are constructing their bobsled in the factory, come on... who cares besides us freaky fans? Love it! Thanks for sharing all of your really cool stuff! -
Well... I am glad to see the 'Norwegian loop' get's used again. Also nice to see this coaster has a few more curves then the current 10 loopers, but still... not so impressive in my opinion. Would be nice to it build though, just to see how far we can go with inversions (Who will build the first 13 looper?)

Anyone rode Magnus Collossos Hellmachine? Or the fantastic superduper amazing Cobra Killing Machine (People have died on that ride... not especially because of the roughness though) in Tivoli Aarhus. They both suck and qualify for 'roughest ride I have been on'

Europa Park Discussion Thread
Thuur replied to Ultracoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Exactly the thought we had on the Dutch forums! They like to go for decent capacity rides so I expect lines to move fast there. The model of the ride is on display in the park, that's what Europa Park usually does when announcing/building a new ride or hotel. Currently on display are the new woodie and their new hotel 'Bell Rock'. Looking forward to the TPR Europe trip, hopefully I can join for a few days! -
Very nice trip! Sometimes, you need these whoring-trips. I can imagine myself spending a bit more time in some of the larger parks. But otherwise, what's there to see when your coming for coasters? How did you experience the new Vekoma SLC trains? Personally, I think the restraints are a massive improvement.

I do like the name, like most of you. I would also understand if Walibi Holland was building an I305 like coaster next to Goliath (46m tall). But adding 23m to a coaster you already have (Oke, not really... but you get the point). It's quite a strange story to me. Anyway, I am not the B&M speed coaster type of guy but it doesn't look real bad. I did expect something more innovative though. -

I'm sorry, but why is the track before the launch of the Maurer X-car longer then the track after the launch? (Yes, I know it's not...). I understand the transfer part, but after that...? The park was high on my todo list for this year, but I have to be honest that I am disapointed when viewing these TR's. I doesn't live up to my expectations. -
Hmm, to bad they use these famous restraints again. EDIT: I do expect some great detailling on the nose of the train. Anyone seen concept arts? Cheetah's are great animals, great picture of the one running. I have been very close with a couple Cheetah's in South Africa last year. Actually stroke some of them, one of the few cat-like animals (The only one besides the regular 'house-cat') that naturally attract to humans.

Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread
Thuur replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No not at all. They are going to be basically reimbursing and building all the structure thoroughly over the off season. i can guarantee you. These are the people that actually built multiple coasters, some with very high forces such as el toro. They know what they are doing, they have seen what is needed in order for a ride to handle forces. Robb, can we add a humor tag or something like that to the forum...? -

Is anyone else getting scared about thos messed up supports in that (over)banked turn? I can't help myself getting the feeling that it might just all collapse when a train is going trough there -

Does anyone have an idea of how long this coaster will be? I don't see much space for a stretched lay-out. -
Just want to say: hello! I went to South Africa for three weeks and saw a themepark next to Johannesburg highway (Gold Reef City) without visiting it... I did cry for 6 hours

La Ronde Discussion Thread
Thuur replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Especially since these are old Arrow trains. The Vekoma trains have much stronger pedals, that can't be pushed easily (Emergency only). The Arrow trains used to be operated without the 'restraint opening bar' underneath the train in the station. They needed to have weaker springs, so operators wouldn't break their legs kicking the pedals Does anyone know if these restraints are still opened by foot? -

There's no clue what so ever (except for construction of the coaster years ago!) that Vekoma was involved in this. Vekoma gives a certain policy for maintenance. A park can ingore this, so bad maintenance or wrong operation of the coaster (Parks don't have procedures for nothing... I know lot's of cases where operators are fooling around with the system and end up having big trouble that affect safety) could cause this to happen. Altough the last situation probably has not occurd here, since it is an all mechanical system that holds the restraints. When will they invent the looping coaster without restraints? It seems you don't need them... -
Elissa's Thoughts on the UK and Europe Trips!

What's wrong with that...? (Sorry, I don't like it either. Some Dutch people, living in certain neighbourhoods, tend to do that in Dutch parks as well). I am glad this forum is open to sharing thoughts, that is a really good thing! It's a shame that, apparently, there's doubt about the appriciation that the organization get's for creating these trips. Like most others in this thread already stated, take every opportunity you get on these trips, especially if it's a surprise/extra/bonus.etc. -

Now I have to go there again... I will pass the park on my way to Europa Park lateron this year. Way to expensive and only half a day of fun. Expedition GeForce is very, very cool but still not worth leaving one day earlier at Europa Park. -

Guy, for those of us who are out-of-the-loop, will you please describe the differences in these loading procedures? (Specifically...how does Furious Baco load?) Furius Baco loads from one side. people can wak between the coaches, since there are small platforms at every coach which exactly fit between both sides of the platform. -

Perhaps drive to Italy next year. I am curious to see how B&M will solve this difficult system. Arrow/S&S didn't manage to make it work smoothly/reliable... Vekoma actually invented this sort of seating (and flying!) before B&M started using it. Vekoma was fist, B&M used the idea and created another technique around it (I believe there need to be something like 3 differences in terms of technique) -
It's funny (Maybe that's not the right word) tor ead this thread to see all those differenes between the USA and the situations I know in Holland. I am not sure what incomes are in the USA, my girlfriend and I make a good salary for our age (I am 23, she's 26). Last year we bought a house (Which is ridiculously expensive in Holland). We now pay €1300.00 euros a month on mortgage (We get 320 euros back form the government, some Dutch system which I will not try to explain). So nett. we pay about 1000 euros a month ($1270.00) on mortgage alone. I think our outgoings (Is that the word?) are near €2100.00 each month. That's without doing crazy stuff! (Like buying new close, installing the airconditioning we did this month, themepark trips) How is that in the USA, looking at house/mortgage costs? We drive two cars, because we both need to travel to work. We recently bought a new car for my girlfriend, which is something that we save money for (Not especially for this, but we save money in general) I was surprises that many of my friends that still live with their parents don't save money. They just spend it all on themepark trips etc. Although I never said no to a trip if I had the money, I also did save money for the time I would buy a house. It helped us a lot with finding a house, buying furnature, etc.. I think a big difference between the USA and Holland is that in Holland it is 'frowned upon' when you can't pay cash for a car. So if people do it (it does happen of course), they usually don't tell. By the way: cars are also ridiculously expensive in Holland. You can easily add 50% to the USA prices if not more. And of course there's gas, in which we are one of the most expensive countries in the world. Take 30% of the USA price and then triple that. That's what we pay per gallon. Luckily we drive a lot of diesel cars here, which is chearper then petrol cars (Over 50% of European cars have diesel engines) if your mileage is over 15000 a year. When reading this I think: why the hell do people live here? Tips from my side (The same as everyone elses I think ): - Don't buy expensive clothes - Don't eat out 'all the time' (Every weekend) - Just buy what you need, my colleagues call me typical Dutch . They're all gadget freak - Don't smoke - Don't drink

Quite an adventure! Cool that you have made this trip, the public transport is oke in Holland. But sometimes a point (Like Toverland) is just not interesting enough to have a permanent busline to it.I am glad you have found some Dutch hospitality (Or were just lucky ). Have you visited Efteling as well or are these the parks you have visited? Thanks for sharing! -
