  1. Another thought came to mind today... we've seen videos of people passing out on Sling Shots. With how easy he slid out and the way he looked as he fell, I wonder if he passed out on the way down before the brakes. To be clear, im not saying this would be the primary reason for him falling, but a contributing factor.
  2. Highly doubt thats why theres a limit. Ride of Steel (also an Intamin) has one listed because they might not fit in the restraints, which is something that will get a green light or red light.
  3. That is one big 14 yr old. Dude looks older than me. Still with his size its hard to believe he slipped out, youd think something wouldve caught him or that he couldve held on.
  4. My understanding of the ride operation was incorrect, my mistake. I didnt realize it dropped in the tilt position. Watching it again in better quality it appears as you stated, that he was already partially out and the brakes shot him off.
  5. After watching a POV I can see why they dont have it for a regular sized person, but the redundancy wouldnt hurt either.
  6. He fell during the brake run, not during the tilt.
  7. Id try it anyway, let them tell you youre too tall
  8. He fell during the brake sequence, its clear that the force of the stop caused him to slide out, so maybe the restraint went up on the way down and the braking caused him to lose his grip (if he was holding on). What an horrific thing to witness, my thoughts to all involved
  9. DVC has announced a new addition to the Polynesian. In conjuction, the Spirit of Aloha dinner show will not return.
  10. If youre talking additions, its only the waterpark. Updates and refurbs, we wont know until it opens. If last year is any indication, a flat or three could be refurbed and common areas fixed & spruced up.
  11. WDI shared a video showing the load platform of Cosmic Rewind https://www.instagram.com/p/CakcMTvlorx/
  12. I wonder if they studied how many local people traveled west to go to a SF park and decided that the rest werent needed. Id bet that the number is small.
  13. Wahoo Wave and Hurricane Harbor branding have been confirmed to be happening this year. Park will be closed on Tuesdays. Chris Thorpe is once again the park president. https://www.wgrz.com/amp/article/entertainment/six-flags-darien-lake-announces-new-water-slide-wahoo-wave-hurricane-harbor/71-f28b120b-5bb8-443b-ae3f-96bbca138756 DARIEN CENTER, N.Y. — The opening of Six Flags Darien Lake is just under three months away, and the park is ready to bring some new fun this summer. On Monday, Darien Lake announced it is rebranding the Splashtown Waterpark to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor and is opening a new water slide for the 2022 season. The new slide, Wahoo Wave, is 60 feet tall and one of the tallest slides in the park. “Six Flags is committed to making the park bigger, better and now wetter than ever with the addition of this world-class waterpark attraction, Wahoo Wave,” said Park President Chris Thorpe. “With non-stop, soaking thrills for the entire family, Hurricane Harbor will be the perfect summertime escape.” Wahoo Wave features twists, drops and a "water wave wall." The slide will provide near-vertical motions and extended hang time providing zero g-forces. The whole family can experience the six story slide together in a four person tube. Construction of the slide has already begun. It is expected to be open when the waterpark opens in May. Other changes coming to the park include expanded seating, improved shade areas, a selfie spot with a 20-foot-tall shark and a new wave pool mural. Darien Lake opens May 27 for weekends and select weekdays until June 24. The park will be open daily, except for Tuesdays, through Labor Day. The park is the the region's largest waterpark and has a total for 50 rides between both the amusement park and waterpark. It also has a 20,000-seat amphitheater operated by Live Nation.
  14. Dunno if it was already posted but theyre going cashless
  15. The tweet has since been deleted and reposted without the date, but the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Disney says Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is opening Memorial Day weekend.
  16. Its been redacted. https://www.scribd.com/document/559815455/Cedar-Point-Top-Thrill-Dragster-Incident-Report I found this amusing, not to downplay the seriousness of the incident.
  17. Ride of Steel has tossed two riders and its still going, as well as its clone at SFA. New Texas Giant. Its not like its Verruckt or Son of Beast, which had engineering failures or outright negligence that caused deaths and/or injuries. Its probably utimately only going to add another checkpoint on the daily maintenance checklist, or maybe some engineering controls to prevent it from re-occuring.
  18. Theyve been painting their stuff pretty regularly, Fahrenheit and one other one were done in fall 2019. Forget what the second one was.
  19. A lot of places have Rider Swap too for situations like that
