  1. The high today there was what? 81? Y'all can't hang with the real south....lol It was 96 where I live this afternoon with near calm winds and 80%+ humidity. Absolutely horrid.
  2. One more question/post involving the weather. I'm planning my first trip to the park next year and wonder what it's usually like mid-late June? I plan on 2-3 days there either the week of the 18th or 25th (either option being a Mon-Wed). Would it be better to wait until after July 4th? During this trip I also plan on 1 day at Carowinds on the way up and 1.5-2 days at Kings Island after CP. If it's in our budget, a day at Kentucky Kingdom as well.
  3. Thunderhead is the only (big) wooden coaster I've ever been on and said....oh sh&t I have to ride it again...right now....and then again. Mind you that was 3 years ago. I know from personal experience that rides can be great one season, then be completely horrid the next. I even know how great a ride I got on Gwazi right after they first put the MF trains on...then a couple months later it was just as bad, if not worse, as before. Hopefully they will get to some refurb on Thunderhead before it gets any worse from what I've been reading on here. Perhaps with Lightning Rod's issues, they've put off such a project while it's gets sorted out.
  4. ^Jungala opened April 2008. I remember the area was closed off on my first visit in December 2007. I was bummed that I didn't get to ride Python. I wasn't as up on the theme park/coaster news back then so I didn't even know it was gone until I planned that trip.
  5. It's better to copy the image address from the picture & post using the image tag vs. saving the pic to re-upload (I'm sure it saves room on TPR's servers too). like this: (Credit to David Nedswine in Knott's Network Forums on Facebook) Also- Bye Bye Support top:
  6. SeaWorld Parks & Ent. to build another Sesame Place park. Location not determined as of yet. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2017/05/18/seaworld-sesame-street-sesame-place/101822750/
  7. This again? I thought I settled that several pages back after finding nothing other than rumor sites claiming it was historical landmark. Of course I didn't post the links so at least there is further proof now available above to any naysayers who are too lazy to look it up for themselves.
  8. Washington Oaks Gardens State Park https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Washington-Oaks Located about 20 miles south of Saint Augustine, near Palm Coast along A1A is Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. The main draw here is the beautiful manicured formal gardens. It's a great place to take a leisurely stroll through the grounds, have a picnic, hike the different trails, bird watching or even catch some fish along the Matanzas River. On the ocean side of the park is the other main draw; the coquina rock formations.
  9. If that's the case, Screamscape is really behind on being in the know... BGT on Screamscape I actually like Sand Serpent. It was my first Wild Mouse coaster when it was still at BGW, so it has some nostalgia....some...lol
  10. Construction pic from the park's Facebook page posted Saturday:
  11. ^They have 2 trains running currently
  12. ^Hmmm...I know when I signed up with EZPay, I knew it was understood that it would continue to charge until I cancelled it after the first 2 years. I guess people just don't look at the fine print when they sign up for things.
  13. It's a 90 degree launch lift on one side of the tower....at least the most recent version for Orlando. ^Oops I was beat to it. Well here's the video anyway. P.S. There is no way in the world they would build a polarcoaster at Knott's... Talk about crazy dreams people are having...
  14. 1. Fury 325 2. Mako 3. Kraken 4. Montu 5. Afterburn 6. Cheetah Hunt 7. Thunderhead 8. Manta (SWO) 9. Volcano 10. Alpengeist This list will likely get updated next year when I make my first visits to Cedar Point & Kings Island.
  15. For me it would be Twisted Typhoon @ Wild Adventures. It's the first and only SLC I've ridden. After waiting for it to open all day I finally got a ride and couldn't wait to get the hell off it. It may be partially due to lack of sleep the night before. I had the worst headache after...worse than Gwazi had ever produced. I actually found it quite enjoyable...mind you that was 5 years ago...
  16. If those rides are your priority, the I suggest riding in this order: 1 Intimidator 2 Woodstock Express 3 Electro Spin 4 Hurler 5 Fury 325 Basically go to the left and clockwise around the park. Don't miss out on Afterburn; the park's second best coaster. Whatever you do, be sure to ride Intimidator before Fury 325. You'll thank me later. I also will suggest if you plan on riding Nighthawk at all to ride it immediately as it will have the longest coaster line all day. Fury 325 eats people so you should have no problem getting multiple rides throughout the day. You shouldn't need a Fast Lane even with the school groups. Of course if you get to the park and lines start getting longer than you care for then you could get one. I wouldn't buy one before going. Most lines won't be very long. The school groups should be gone mid-afternoon.
  17. ^I've been taking them for 10 years.....I will miss the ol "papier-mâché" Kraken at the entrance. While I don't care for the VR coming, I am interested in seeing how the new entrance will look once completed.
  18. A lot of this is already known, but for those catching up.... SeaWorld: Kraken losing its head, gaining new entrance, queue
  19. ^ I agree with coasterbill. For locals it's not a big deal as you have the chance to go back pretty much when you want. It's a whole other story for people that plan trips from faraway places. Sure rides go down last minute due to the unforeseeable. However, if it's planned maintenance, wouldn't it make better sense to do like the competition and post well in advance? All year-round parks should have this available since they don't get an off season.
  20. Yes, Tuesday will generally be the slowest of those days. Monday would be good as well. Fury 325, Afterburn, Intimidator, New flats in County Fair, Woodstock Gliders If you want to ride Nighthawk, do it first as the line moves slow and often has one train operation on slower days. Ricochet (wild mouse coaster) has very low capacity so I would try and knock that out early as well. Fury 325, Afterburn and Intimidator are all people eaters usually so those lines move pretty quickly and can be ridden later in the day. There's really not a designated picnic area outside the park. I believe you can sit in the entrance plaza (on the ground) or perhaps lay a blanket in one of the grassy areas, but there isn't much shade. It's also pretty hot with all that asphalt and concrete laying around. Personally for me it's too much hassle having to go out of any park to eat and go back through security again (even on a slow day...but I can be impatient a times...lol). Harmony Hall will likely be the best place considering your large group. There are multiple cuisine choices there set up like a food court so everyone would likely find something they like. It's also the largest eating facility in the park. I grew up in Charlotte so I know this all too well: Hot- likely in the mid-upper 90s and very humid. There is also greater chances of quick rain/thunderstorms that usually roll through mid-late afternoon. They usually pass very quickly and rides open back up fairly quickly. Many rides will be walk-on. Only ones that will generally be more than 20-30 minutes or more are Nighthawk (likely an hour except at opening), Ricochet & Flying Cobras. A good portion of the people that come to the park are in the water park. The dry side is generally very manageable on weekdays.
  21. You would be insane to go to either of those parks on Memorial Day...even with a Fast Lane/Quick Queue. I would suggest going the following week (June 5 & 6). The main school districts in both areas will still be in session, so those days will have lighter crowds and provide many more re-rides without need for any fast pass.
  22. ^^ & ^^^ That day is an education type day and opens at 9 to accommodate school groups that would need to leave early afternoon. They do tend to get busy for those...not weekend, peak summer or holiday busy, but there will be some waits at the lower capacity rides. They also usually don't have any early access during those days.
