  1. Honestly, I really like the I305 soft should restraints, and would have loved to see them on SkyRush. With that said, I was definitely unprepared for the intensity of SkyRush on my first ride. After riding it once, I was totally able to ride it defensively and didn't experience any discomfort. I'm just happy that a US park still has the balls to build such an intense ride, even if the restraints aren't perfect. I'd take SkyRush's airtime with slightly uncomfortable restraints over any B&M's airtime/comfortable restraints any day!
  2. Have you looked into adding any wooden coasters to the park? For only $300,000 I know of a great wooden coaster in Ohio (fully ready to operate) that you could put in. You would need to rent a few pick-up trucks, but overall it would be a great investment.
  3. Sunday has definitely been the way to go! SkyRush has gotten down to about a half a switchback. Can't wait to grab some more night rides tonight!
  4. I think that the issue here is that Zierer copied Intamin's free fall idea, muli-launches, and track design. I think it's clear whose fault this is! Stupid Intamin.
  5. Just a heads up for anyone visiting the park today. From Busch Garden's twitter: According to twitter, the ride was down for most of yesterday too. Anyone visit the park? I have a contact at another website who claims that the yellow train actually exploded, burning down the entire station and killing at least 15 people. Can anyone confirm?
  6. Like Jake, I also rode both I305 and SkyRush today. I won't write some lengthy novel comparing the two, but here are some quick thoughts. Both are completely insane, although I prefer the overall ride experience of I305. Hand down though, SkyRush had the most intense airtime out of any coaster that I've been on. I'd definitely rank SkyRush up there with my all time favorite coasters: I305, Nemesis, Tobu Zoo's mega-lite, and El Toro. It was super-smooth, although the lap bar was kinda uncomfortable. I think the I305 style restraints (with the soft straps) were much better. Was SkyRusg the hands down omfg best coaster ever?!?! Probably not. But it sits in with some REALLY good company.
  7. Based on my experience with Fast Lane this past weekend, I really don't think that there were enough people using it to cause significantly higher wait times for the normal queue. It was really well done. If you're arguing that literally half of each ride's capacity is going to Fast Lane users, then I'm sorry, I just don't see how that could be true. The only time I saw this to be a problem was immediately following downtime. I.E., Dragster was down for a good bit of time on Saturday, so when it came back up all of the Fast Lane people immediately went to get their rides, and the line backed up. Same thing with Millennium Force. This was the only time I saw Fast Lane significantly effect the normal queue. Being as it was the first weekend, I'm sure that Cedar Fair will realize that this is an issue, and will find ways to make it work better for everyone in the park.
  8. I'm sorry, Adam... quick question: Did you just post a photo TR of Q-Bot testing, or did you just post a photo TR of miserable Universal employees?
  9. WHAT?!?! They're taking out that stellar Narnia attraction?!?! How dare they.
  10. ^Because WildCat isn't really a popular ride. Why spend money on a ride that doesn't draw anyone to the park? People still like wooden coasters, so obviously the park is going to invest in keeping theirs in working order. I'm all for renovating old Schwarkopf rides, like SDL, or what SFOT has been doing with Shock Wave... but lets be honest, WildCat is nowhere near that caliber of ride. For a park like Cedar Point, investing in keeping it around any longer doesn't make a ton of sense.
  11. Very interesting! Approximately how much more would it cost them to do this? How little is "very little"? And the return on this investment would be what?
  12. I think he was simply saying that he disliked the park map, not the park itself.
  13. I agree, but I think a lot of people reading the site just get sick of so many people posting their opinions like they have so much authority on the matter. Seriously, it amazes me how many people on this site have engineering degrees! With that said, I certainly don't think there's anything wrong with saying "I heard it might start testing Monday", and then referencing the site you heard it from. Being called out for that is a little ridiculous, IMO at least.
  14. Old Town Kissimmee has LED strips 300 feet up it's SkyCoaster and they haven't seemed to have any issues with it. With that said, I agree that I prefer the way they lit the structure from the ground.
  15. I think the 5,000,000 pictures Adam just posted of a soft-serve stand is just further proof that Disney fans will go nuts for pretty much anything. But hey, park history is always cool, so way to go Disney.
  16. ^Now what ride/franchise could you possibly be referring to???
  17. Looks like Dorney is following the rest of the Cedar Fair parks by adding Fast Lane: http://www.dorneypark.com/what-s-new/new-fast-lane Fast Lane rides include: Stinger, Steel Force, Dominator (S&S Tower), Possessed, Wild Mouse, White Water Landing, Hydra, Talon, Thunderhawk, and Thunder Canyon! And yes, there is already a ton of whining on their facebook page!
  18. A post about Verbolten on Busch Garden's facebook page:
  19. That coaster used to be a water coaster, but later had its water portions removed and became a launched coaster. So if you're watching a video of it, you're not imagining things, it is no longer a water coaster. I think this is would be a better example of what you might be looking for: http://www.rcdb.com/2079.htm?p=0
  20. I have to agree that I'm underwhelmed with Hersheypark's skip the line feature. IMO, there are three stand out coasters at Hersheypark: Storm Runner, Fahrenheit, and (soon) Skyrush. The skip the line pass only allows you access to one of these. While I understand Skyrush not being on the pass for its opening season, I think that Fahrenheit should be on there, especially since you can only use it once per ride and only a limited number are sold, so it wouldn't affect the stand by line too greatly. So what... I can pay $50 to skip the line once on the boomerang? The Wild Mouse? I guess Great Bear is a plus... Meh.
  21. ^Honestly, I think the ride would be quite good if it wasn't for that stupid extra handle bar that went right into my knees! PAIN!!
  22. I loved this day! It was one of those days on the trip that I didn't really have a clue about the parks we were visiting, but they turned out to be so much fun! All of the random attractions at these parks really made the day! Stupid drop tower.
  23. I thought it almost seemed like a Schwarzkoph looper combined with a crazy helix section that reminded me a lot of the back half of Titan/Goliath. The only thing (for me) that kept it from being really high on my list, was that it had really uncomfortable restraints. If this had lapbars only, I think it would be ranked really well.
