  1. I watched that whole video (and several others on his channel) in their entirety. You cannot honestly watch that and tell me that those are the ramblings of a mentally stable person. Granted, I did learn a couple things about "lost" WDW history from his channel that I did not know about (i.e. Fort Wilderness had a train???). But that still doesn't excuse the fact that this guy is breaking the law... and appears to be completely nuts. I wouldn't trust that guy on my property either... It seems perfectly appropriate to me. He is making money by making a show based on trespassing on private property. Personally, I think the Company would benefit from trespassing a few more "true fans"...
  2. Wow, great pics! IMO, Alton is still one of the most interesting parks in the world in terms of landscaping, layout, etc. Loving the aerial pics!
  3. I am also loving the date change! I am still missing like 5 SFMM credits, so I am hoping to make this event!
  4. I highly doubt this will come to pass. But if it did, here's some food for thought: Would Discovery Kingdom be rebranded as a SeaWorld park?
  5. I've always felt that the Discovery Center was a hugely underutilized piece of real estate in IOA. If true, I think these rumors could turn out to be a really nice addition to IOA
  6. I'm sorry, but this STILL sounds terrible to me. Unfortunately, this sort of attitude is common among enthusiasts. WDW fanboys, Cedar Fair fanboys, DL fanboys... you name it. If you're now going to say you were jk or not serious or whatever, that's fine. The sad part is, even if you weren't being serious, there are still a LOT of people out there that think this way. It's sad.
  7. Really, Bro. I'm not arguing with your assertion that FP+ is going to change the way we are going to visit the parks as enthusiasts. I was ranting about your whole attitude that, as an enthusiast, you are admitting that you would behave in a manner that is so terrible you would have to be evicted.... over a free system that is currently in a testing phase. You would presumably stand there and scream and yell and make a scene... to the point of eviction...over a theme park system that is still in a test and adjust phase. You would (by your own admission), take time off work, spend time and money traveling to Florida, spend money staying in a moderate hotel... and then instead of enjoying your vacation (that already includes a huge potential for free Fast Passes), you would rather get evicted. That is just terrible to me.
  8. ^Still, it's kind of what we expect from Merlin. I mean, wasn't it even just last year that we were getting fake new reports of The Swarm decapitating water dummies during testing? This looks like a great ride, and I LOVE Alton Towers... but lets be realistic in setting some pretty low standards for their marketing campaigns. Honestly, they are so bad that I really look forward to them. I would be disappointed if they DON'T blow this way out of proportion!
  9. ^Ditto. I actually expected not to be really be impressed with TTD, especially after riding Kingda Ka. I also expected to LOVE Maverick and MF. Surprisingly, after getting on all of those coasters, TTD is my favorite. Go figure....
  10. Umm... Have you ever seen Merlin's marketing? That sounds EXACTLY like something they would do.
  11. Here's my rant on your attitude, and largely of the enthusiast community in general... particularly many of the older generation, ACE members, etc... There always is this expectation that we all want to see parks expand, put in new products, add new attractions, and offer us more options. However, as enthusiasts, we expect to pay these parks as little as possible. And I'm not even just talking about Disney or MyMagic+ here, I'm talking about the enthusiast community in general. Look at how a typical enthusiast wants to plan their visit to Cedar Point: stay off property in a terrible Sandusky motel, find discounted tickets, or buy an AP and abuse it to no end. These are the same people that screamed bloody murder when FastLane was introduced and allowed higher paying guests better access to the park. Guess what: it's those premium guests that allow that park to expand, not some cheap ACEr who is hellbent on giving the park as little money as possible. The same attitude applies to the people who are all up in arms over MyMagic+. You think that by Disney standards you are a big spender by staying in a moderate hotel? That is hilarious to me. You clearly know nothing about the spending habits of WDW guests. And to say that, if you weren't included in a FREE TRIAL, that you would create such a scene that you would have to be kicked out of WDW? That's just embarrassing.
  12. I'm just throwing this out there, but is it really a union issue? I know the unions are different at Disneyland, and the laws are different in California, so I may be completely off. But at WDW, you cannot assign a custodian to do the job of an engineer because you are effectively taking work away from one union and giving it to another. i.e. a custodian or a housekeeper cannot change a lightbulb because that job "belongs" to engineering. I'm not sure I buy that this would be an issue simply because of short staffing... or because of Florida management. Like Joey said, if they were to tack on an extra .50 utility premium, plus whatever DL's third shift premium is, I am SURE they would have no problem finding people to cover.
  13. Disney fans? Over react? NEVER!! I love reading all the comments on the Disney Parks Blog from APs who are freaking out. Guess what? Resort guests pay A LOT more money than an AP does, so IMO they should be getting better service. It's the age old Disney AP philosophy: "I want the parks to be maintained perfectly. I want the parks to always be expanding with new attractions. I will scream bloody murder if I have to pay any more money for this to happen." I also never understood all the complaining about dining reservations at WDW. I have never had a problem finding a reservation within a days notice, or even "day of". The only restaurants that I've had to really book months ahead of time were large group Ohana visits, or T-Rex, holidays, etc.
  14. It probably would have gone something like this... http://rcdb.com/123.htm
  15. ^In talking with Oceaneering at IAAPA, they did mention to us that they thought Spiderman was a bit too intense, and that they really want to have something that everyone in the park will ride. With that in mind, I think it would be smart to expect this ride to be VERY gentle in terms of motion and thrills. To be fair though, Pooh is very gentle and is still AMAZING. I'm not sure if SeaWorld will be able to achieve the awesome level of theming that Pooh has (much less maintain it), but it will still be cool to see this kind of ride system operating in the US.
  16. I feel the same way. The Mapple Store and the Bowling Alley were way cooler than the Funzos and Santa's Little Helper. I almost think they should have done the whole Christmas process in reverse order. (i.e., you start out getting Santa's Little Helper, and your finale is getting a Mapple Store for your town)
  17. Really? I thought the Paris version looked cheap compared to the Florida version. The inside is just a bunch of lighting rigs and fog. As for my favorites, I think there are two that clearly stand out to me above all else. 1. Space Fantasy- it has EVERYTHING. It is long, it has coaster elements, it has dark ride portions, amazing queue, etc etc. 2. Orlando's ROTM After that, I would have to give honorable mentions to the Space Mountains
  18. I haven't been able to play at all today, not to mention half of yesterday I hope EA gets their crap together soon.
  19. I think the one thing that keeps me going back to RCT2 is the ability to make a "complete" park rather than just one ride. No Limits is great to play around and design with, but I tend to get bored with it quicker because the rides never actually operate, draw crowds, become popular, etc. The original post mentioned that this will have more than just coasters, but will that extend to having customizable things like dark rides, flat rides, water rides, etc? Also, will you be able to open your park to "peeps" of some sort? And fully operate the park like in RCT?
  20. I just want to highlight the importance of voting in this year's poll: This will probably be the last year that you will be able to vote for Son of Beast as the worst coaster on the planet. Make it count.
  21. I save and re-use mine from year to year. Added my new coasters and changed the lines that have been updated.... and DONE!! 22. Did not know that! Thanks for the heads up, just used that trick! FYI I am playing under "acunnin"
  23. I think it's very natural for everyone to instantly start jumping to the Radiator Springs vs Test Track argument. Having ridden both, I honestly think that Radiator Springs is a much better family attraction, while Test Track is the better thrill ride. I don't think I like one better than the other, I think they really stand out in different ways. THIS. Seriously, such a drastic improvement.
