  1. I was at Epcot yesterday and thought it was really cool! I didn't use them for my entry, but my friend had a normal park ticket and he got in the park really quickly. Hopefully we'll see this rfid system become integrated with the fastpass system and eventually with the attractions themselves. I hate how slow some people are at getting through the normal turnstiles, so I thought this was a cool way to get people into the park faster.
  2. ^Are you sure it's the same manufacturer? I didnt think Vekoma was involved in Disneyland's BTM. Correct me if I'm wrong
  3. How much time are you spending there? Are you planning on doing both parks or just one? I recently took my first trip to Disneyland Paris, and I only had a day to get both parks done. Go to the Studios first thing in the morning and ride Crush's Coaster and RC Racer (the Toy Story Half Pipe). These are the two lowest capacity coasters on property, and even when the park is dead they'll get a decent sized line. After that, knock out Tower and Rock n Roller Coaster... then you're pretty much done with the Studios park unless you really want to do the shows or tram tour. You can get those four rides done in a couple of hours if you go near opening. Then just go over to Disneyland Park, you should have plenty of time to get everything done there if you go around lunchtime. Also, if you're going this time of the year you should expect crowds to be pretty light. I went on a weekday a couple weeks ago and most of the attractions were 5-10 minute waits with the exception of Crush and RC Racer. Expect longer on weekends, but still not crazy crowded. Use Fastpass for Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain if that's the case. As for hotels, I just stayed in a cheap hostel in Paris. It's only about a 35 minute train ride to Disneyland from inside the city, and it's easy to access from the subway system. I don't really know much about staying on property. Hope that helps!
  4. ^Halloween in Orlando was just not cutting it this year! Awesome report Divv!
  5. Capacity, height restrictions, capacity, loose articles, capacity.... Disney designs their rides to be able to adapt to their attendance. Having rides with lockers slows down capacity and annoys guests... especially when they're carrying around all that Disney merchandise they just bought in the parks. Think about it... Everest, BTM, Space Mountain, even Rock n Roller coaster all allow bags, have low height restrictions, don't have seatbelts that need to be checked. It's basically "throw your crap in the car, sit down, pull your restraint down, dispatch". That's how Disney coasters operate... there's no way you can make a crazy airtime machine or a wing coaster that can operate like that. Plus, again... You shouldn't have to worry about if you should buy those expensive items in the merchandise shops and not being able to take them around the park with you...
  6. I think this would be a great fit for Hollywood Studios. That park has really been in need of a major new attraction, even AK has passed DHS's attendance figures recently. Star Tours is nice and all, but a major new E-Ticket would really help. Edit: Wow, AK? Umm.. ok...
  7. This event just keeps getting more and more epic, I cant wait!! Six Flags Over Georgia is really taking this to another level!!
  8. ^Same! I really don't care too much for B&M mega coasters, but I love Goliath! Honestly, I think that the bigger they get the worse they get, as I really like Hollywood Dream as well. Nitro, Diamondback, etc... bleh... So excited, Six Flags Over Georgia seems to be setting up an EPIC bash!
  9. The nerve of some companies... Having business strategies that give them profits... If you're a park with a lot of money to spend you're most likely going to get a custom coaster from a company like B&M or Intamin. If you have less money to spend but still want a big ride then a cloned coaster is a decent buy. Vekoma just positions itself to serve a different market segment.
  10. Aww, this thread makes me sentimental. I miss my days of living in Chatham and working as a CP. I did the Fall program past year and loved it! If anybody has any questions about the program feel free to shoot me a message.
  11. Did anybody else look at this and go... "Holy crap this thing is gonna be low capacity!!" It looks like a TON of fun, but seriously the line for this is gonna be insane.
  12. I just noticed this, I like it! I want to go back to Japan already
  13. I really enjoyed my visit to Parc Asterix, this looks like a really nice addition to the park. Now in one place you can go and ride one of the worst looping coasters in the world alongside one of the (hopefully) best! Hooray for the French!
  14. Same! I missed how tall it was
  15. I think that whoever brought up the Hersheypark example of Lightning Racer/Wilcat probably has the best so far. While it may not be a one park example, I tend to look at central Florida and think "How many looping B&M's does one area need?" But hey... although I'm not a huge fan of the giant B&M mega coasters... this park now has two high capacity coasters that will be a lot of fun for the GP. That's way better than the park's old business plan of low capacity dinky rides IMO. Good for them!
  16. Great update Hanno! This was a really awesome park day! I look like I'm dying.
  17. These updates are great! I miss Japan so much!
  18. Wait a second.... Is this coaster sponsored by Lockheed Martin?!?! Or just the media day? Either way that's badass!
  19. ^Don't think of Transportation as your role, think of it more as the department that you'll be working in. You won't find out your specific job until you get there. I don't think that they use CP's as bus drivers, so I think that means you'll be working on the ferry boats or the monorails (although I don't know if they let CP's pilot either of those). They use transportation CM's to direct guests in and out of the transportation areas, so that's what audience control is most likely referring to. Pretty much every role includes something about cleaning in its description, every role at some point or another may require you to pick up trash or maintain the show quality in your area. I've actually heard that Transportation is a good area to be a CP in.
  20. I've been assigned "Operations/Merchandise", so I'm presuming that this fits into the "non-constumed" description? In that case, I think a shopping trip is in order... Great! You should have a costume. I wouldn't worry about the dress clothes too much after your first few days. Before you go spend a bunch of money I'd just double check with your recruiter
  21. I put El Toro as #1, Voyage as #3. (Ravine Flyer was between the two of them) I even put Voyage ahead of Boulder Dash and Phoenix.
  22. WTF WHY DID NOBODY BRING ME LEFTOVERS TODAY?!?! I hate all of you. And this is awesome.
  23. I can't think of any US parks that do this for their normal operating hours, but I've seen it with special ticketed events. For example, as a Florida resident or annual pass holder, some nights are cheaper for Halloween Horror Nights than others.
  24. I'm going to be cautiously optimistic on this one. While I agree with Elissa that I kind of want Herschend to stay small and keep their high standard of quality, after seeing how much Wild Adventures has improved under Herschend management I would like to say that this could be a good thing.
  25. ^The ride was never completed, so I wouldn't really count that. I'm going to go ahead an question your definition here. Was Hard Rock Park closing really that unpredictable? I'm joking, of course... But seriously, when that park opened I thought "Holy crap, I better get up there fast! There's no way this is gonna last!"
