No, that's the purpose of those hydraulic/pneumatic (I'm not sure which they are off hand) cylinders on the 4 corners at the bottom. They come up about 8 feet as the ride ascends the tower, and have rubber stoppers on the top of them. I've seen a tower ride fall into them on an e-stop that wasn't high enough up the tower to have built up the pressure to catch the car, and aside from the obnoxious "twang" sound and the obvious lack of major bouncing (it bounced 5 or 6 feet twice then stopped), no one was the wiser. -Josh -

Photo TR Voodoo Media Day at Dorney
exit english replied to Sue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This was my first thought.Maybe they bought too much paint for WT and just figured, WTH, use it on Voodoo. Color scheme of the ride does not match the sign. The ride colors correspond to Voodoo, sort of. New Olreans and Mardi Gras, are very much centered around the Voodoo religion, and this ride (with some artistic license) is adhering to the color scheme. Purple: Symbol of Justice Green (in this case teal): Symbol of Faith Gold (in this case, yellow-ish): Symbol of Power Here's an image of the Mardi Gras flag, as you can see, it's not a 100% match to the ride, but it sure puts things in perspective. I'm not a Voodoo expert or anything, but I do find it interesting that it is matched up like that. Kind of subtle. edited for another pic: Here you can see the colors represented as more teal and yellow. See? I'm not lying -
I have a Ravine Flyer II hoodie that I bought before the commercial shoot. I also have a couple WDW items, which don't count so much, I guess. They're not ride-specific, only Mickey and/or WDW. Jen and I also have Maverick "First Rider" shirts from last year, that I never wear. I'm in that category that most coaster shirts are tacky. Josh

Let's hear it for the Ravine Flyer II hip-bruise club! I'm getting old, and I guess I bruise easily now but I can't wait for the next shoot that comes my way, cause you can be sure I'll be there. It's always great seeing Robb again, especially when we're diving head first into a couple of orders of Blazin' wings a BW's - It was also great meeting those of you I hadn't met before, and just hanging out having a great time. Also, the way Wal-DA-mEErrr (haha) treated us, and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, when in reality they had already done so much for us by allowing the filming to take place, was just amazing. Honestly, I wasn't expecting them to pick up Applebee's for all 30 or whatever people that were there, not to mention making sure we were taken care of with Gatorade and an assortment of other 20 Oz. beverages. Overall, I'd say that was one of my favorite experiences, as far as parks go. Josh -

Maverick's first drop in any seat, but the back seat yank-over is just so... well, it's an "OHSHI..." moment. -

Oh yes. I got this on VHS for Christmas quite a few years ago. It's a very enjoyable documentary, though the guy's a bit monotone. Josh -

Just the opposite, most likely. Too much grease/a large amount of grease, combined with the brisk weather this time of year, can cause these things to happen. Maverick valleyed in its roll the other day, too. It just happens. It's not just an Intamin thing, either. B&Ms do it, too. It's even worse when they're new, or have been sitting idle all winter. New camera. Sold my 10D, bought a Rebel XSI. 12.2 Megapixels, 3.5" LCD, came with an IS lense. I'm cool with that. -Josh

What bands need to go away?

While we're on the topic of album singles being about nothing, as well as the topic of Disturbed being deep and meaningful, let me mention this - and I quote: "Get up, come on get down with the sickness." -Josh -
What bands need to go away?
exit english replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'm 26 years old. I listen to absolutely everything. There are some bands I hate, the Rolling Stones for example. FOB, Panic!, MCR, the Hush Sound all get props from me because, like it or not, they've got musical talent to one degree or another. Any of the 14 year olds saying certain things need to go away and that "punk/metal is the only thing I'll listen to" - you'll get there someday. I used to be the same way, but musical tastes evolve. I still listen to the grittiest of old school punk, and the heaviest new york hardcore. The only genre I can't really get into is the newer "nu-metal" sounds, just because I don't like the way the music seems to flow. That doesn't mean I don't like some of the bands, though. Again, I like absolutely everything. Also, I'm what I would consider an "overly-preppy guy" Hell, I worked for Abercrombie and Fitch for 4 years standing around looking pretty - you'll also learn that the way you dress does, in no way, have any bearing over your musical tastes once you leave high school. -Josh -
I just spent a week at Walt Disney World. Talk about happy. However, now that I'm home... I miss it. Talk about sad

Magnum XL 200. By happenstance, I got the last public train of the season, and they sent us around twice. It was neat. -
I play drums. I also do some vocals. http://www.myspace.com/scaryambulance New stuff should be out soon enough, with a ton of new breakdowns and the like.
