What defunct park intrigues you the most?
storms555 replied to coaster57's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Another defunct park I now find interesting is Euclid Beach. I mean it was another Lake Erie Ohio amusement park. It could of been like Cedar Point's "sister" park:P It kind of makes me wonder if Euclid Beach was still around how would it compete with Cedar Point? Also apparently they were known for their popcorn calls and taffies. I notice a lot of small family owned parks defunct or still operating will often have flagship foods and snacks. Corporate parks not so much though it seems...Im guessing because everything is mass produced when it comes to corporate park foods. -

Well since this was brought up be others and now i wont sound like such a Negative Nancy,I'm not a fan of curved swaying drops either. Curved drops like that take away that awesome feelings you get from a classic drop. You dont get that awesome stomach drop feeling. You dont get the sensation of free falling. You dont get air time. You just dont get that "omg im gonna diiiieeeee!!" rush! Thats why I dont get why Boulder Dash for example is such a big hit. I never been there but i seen POVs and noticed it doesnt really have "real" drops just mostly curved ones. To me there is no way i can see a coaster like that beating an awesome coaster like El Toro! I mean I never been on BD or El Toro but from the looks of it I can see El Toro making BD look like a sunday drive...Also what I don't get is when people actually scream on curved drops. -

If you dont mind me asking why would you expect said stranger next to you to acknowledge you anyways? There is no written rule someone HAS to say hi to you...I'm not saying this in a mean way by the way just saying there is no social guidelines to follow when you are just suppose to have fun at an amusement park. I mean yes there is social rules at amusement parks as in the form of dont cut in line. Dont push and shove. Dont act rude and aggressive when in the crowds. Dont be rude to the workers(and workers shouldn't be rude to you). Dont hold up the lines for any reason. Dont act inappropriate and vulgar. etc. Those arnt just social rules but rules of being a decent person, and a lot of the rules I listed are most likely actual rules for amusement park visitors. However something like "you must make eye contact smile and have small talk with the single rider your are paired with" Thats just silly. -

Well....some people have social anxiety and/or are also socially awkward. Being social doesnt come easy for everyone even if it is at a super fun place. Also if they do happen to talk to me I will respond back. I am not rude its just im not very comfortable with those situations. -
No and I hope i never am. *knock on wood* Have you ever been stuck on a roller coaster?

Did you know somewhere in North or South Dakota there is this tiny amusement park thats only 2 acres big and has only 6 rides? I read it in a book about the amusement parks of the US and Canada. It's called Lucy's Amusement Park. Im also pretty sure thats the only amusement park they have....imagine that....no actual amusement park for 100s of miles

This may sound strange but as far as seat dividers go,i actually like that coasters have them. Hear me out please. See lets say you are in a odd numbered group and you end up sitting alone, then some single rider comes along and sits next to you, without the dividers it would be awkward to keep smashing up against a total stranger. I seen old photos of old fashioned coaster cars that had TINY 2-people bench seats! I often wondered if you got stuck with someone you didnt know how awkward would that be! Most people of course dont think about this type of stuff but as someone with social anxiety I often do....Of course though for the most part I ignore my social anxiety when it comes to amusement parks because its not worth missing out on fun because of it. But yes i do really appreciate seat dividers for that "just in case" reason. -

Pre-teen videos where the kids cant articulate for crap and have such awful pitiful audio quality. Whats worse then not finding your favorite song on youtube, because of the stupid copy right crap,to only find poor covers done by tweens? -

What defunct park intrigues you the most?
storms555 replied to coaster57's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Maybe its because im from a different era but i was never lucky enough to grow up close to a cheap local park like many older folks did. If anything most of my childhood was at local carnivals that came into town. Sure they are better then nothing but with carnivals they arnt up all summer and for the most part there wasnt/isnt coasters. As someone who now lives in Chicago i really wish Riverview was still around...Great America is an awesome park but it would be nice to have a closer and cheaper park as well. Also The Bobs looks like it would of been an awesome coaster! Also wish Old Chicago was around too even if wasnt that great as i heard. Gives something to do during the cold months. -

2016 Oklahoma State Fair Review
storms555 replied to SouthFloridaFreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This fair looks awesome! Its on par of a local small town amusement park! To bad i never been to a carnival/fair this awesome....Most of the fairs and carnivals by me have like a 4:1 ratio or 5:1 ratio of kiddie rides to adult rides. Most of the adult rides they do have are typical or rather tame. I would like to go to a carnival that has actual coasters, drop towers, log flumes, zippers, etc. Usually the most thrilling ride at a carnival near me is the Power Surge(which i admit is a lot of fun) and of course the swinging Frizbee ride. Even the Larson Loop is a rare treat around here and i dont remember the last time i seen a Zipper -

^^^I didnt realize how dwarfed Mavrick looks compare to most of the other coasters even compare to the Meanstreak. Heck the Meanstreak even looks small compare to M-Force of course. So if you compared Mavrick to M-Force it would look like a kiddie coaster!! When I went on Mavrick I thought it would just be "meh" but it really packed a punch! Its like a big coaster in a small body if that makes any sense. -
When someone is chewing loudly on the mic while on skype with you or when making a youtube video. Not to mention its hard to concentrate on whats happening in a video when all you hear is *smack smack smack smack squish squish crunch crunch smack smack smack* I mean you cant eat or snack BEFORE making a video???

Traveling 13 hours to a park to find out it will be closed the whole time you are on said trip. Whats worse then going to an amusement park with a friend who is scared of most of the roller coasters there?(P.S this happen to me before be forced to wait an hour in a line to get on the Spider while surrounded by awesome coasters left a bad taste in my mouth.) -

I think a beyond virtual drop on a wooden coaster would be so cool! Imagine if it was sort of like a wood version of the Mavrick. But no matter what Im very psyched about this coaster! RMC is awesome.
