  1. I've lived 2 hours away from this park my whole life and had never been to this park. Went for the first time yesterday. Paid 39.99 to get in. In line with what other parks of similar size charge ie Canobie Lake but still way overpriced. Park was dead. Lot maybe 20 percent full. Revolution was closed per website which I knew, however at entrance they've got a sign that says delayed opening for: Phobia/Boulder Dash/Zoomerang/Downtime and a couple others. Basically everything that wasn't Wildcat or a kiddie ride wasn't open to start the day. Odd. Basically everything opened by 12-1230. Downtime never opened and Boulder Dash opened around 3. Wildcat is awful. Dispatches ranged from 1:45 at the quickest to 4 min at the longest. One train is fine but they've got half the train blocked with a green cone for people coming through the exit. So maybe 8 people get on the ride at a time. For a line that should have taken 10 minutes it was more like 45. One and done on this one. 2/10. Phobia is very good, exceptionally smooth and I was out of my seat the entire time. Had never done a skyrocket before and it was solid. Walk on wait. 7/10 Boulder Dash 1 train op but line moved well. Maybe 3-4 train wait. Rode in front and back. Both incredibly rough, like Rougarou rough. No airtime to be had either especially on that back section by the lake. Really surprised me to be honest. I guess I rode this on the worst day it's ever been running. 4/10. Ghost blaster is one of the best shooting rides I have been on. Guns work great and you can tell what you're shooting at. 2nd best ride in the park. Thunder and lighting is also one of my favorite types of flat rides so points there. The natural cut fried are made fresh but they weren't selling enough of them to actually get them fresh to the buyer. Mine were 20 min under the heat lamp for sure but they gave me a ton of cheese so we're good there. Watched some 15 min Catterina Cat/Tigey Tiger or something show for kiddies that was cute. Overall the park just lacks soul. Very bland and characterless compared to a place like Canobie Lake. At 48 bucks a person with no discount I just can't justify ever going back or recommending it to people. Also If it sounds like I hated the park I didn't. I had a fun day and am glad I finally went to experience it, just unfortunately wasn't quite what I was hoping for.
  2. 1. Name 3 of your favorite roller coasters, but not your top 3. Twisted Colossus/Ghostrider/Appollo's Chariot 2. About how many different parks did you visit in 2018? SFMM/KBF/DCA/DL/USH, so 5. 3. Which 2018 park visit was your favorite? I love all my children equally. 4. Your favorite 2018 park addition (ride, food, show, etc)? That I have experienced, Hangtime. Overall Twisted Timbers is the best overall addition. 5. What ride exceeded your expectations the most in 2018?Incredicoaster was surprisingly very good. 6. Best meal/food at a park in 2018?Dole Whip float at DisneyLand 7. What was your favorite new coaster of 2018 NOT made by RMC or Larson?Hangtime 8. Name one park you will definitely visit in 2019. Adventuredome in Las Vegas probably 90 percent probability. I can;t say for sure any others. 9. Best ride themed to a bird?Montu, guy with a bird head. 10. Lamest ride/coaster you rode in 2018?Superman the Escape from Krypton. Weak launch, no airtime, weird plastic eggshell over half my body. 11. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2019 ride)Do-dodonpa 12. What new-for-2019 ride or coaster are you most looking forward to?Star Wars land. 13. Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind. Six Flags New England 14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose...Mako 15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme? Not a winter themepark person. Have not experienced either however. 16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion?Mystic Timbers shed. Great use of viral marketing. 17. Which Six Flags have you been to most recently? Six Flags Magic Mountain 18. Intamin or Schwarzkopf? You may only choose one. Intamin 19. Battle of Kings Coasters: Island or Dominion? Pick one. Kings Island but it's close. 20. What was the longest you waited for a ride/coaster in 2018?25 minutes on one train ops for Xcelerator from FP entrance 21. What roller coaster have you ridden more than any other?I actually couldn't even begin to guess. 22. Best drop tower under 150 feet? Stratosfear at Knoebels, also one of the best rides overall. 23. Maverick or Millennium Force? (If you haven't been to CP, pick what you want to ride more)Maverick 24. Log flumes or sky rides? You can only choose one. Log flumes when done well by far. However I really enjoy the open skyride at Canobie Lake for some reason. 25. What are 3 things you enjoying doing at your home park other than riding rides? Playing a couple stupid carnival games, spending time with family, making a deep unspoken bond with random people next to you in a long line. Goodbye forever guy that just got on the ride in front of me after an hour. 26. What is your second favorite Cedar Fair park and why?Knott's Berry Farm. Location is great and has the most charm of any Cedar Fair park. 27. What is your home park and give us two good reasons why we should pay it a visit. Six flags New England. Come here for Superman and Wicked Cyclone, two of the best rollercoasters on the planet. Also I think there's a waterpark admission included. 28. Launch or Lift? Intense launches are some of my favorite elements. Lift hills do their job well though for different types of rides. 29. Did you buy fast pass at all in 2018? Normally I never do anywhere but July of this year was at all the SoCal parks and basically had to if I was going to ride anything. 30. What is your least favorite wooden coaster?Twister at Knoebel's is pretty bad. I get jackhammered on that ride harder than any other. 31. Disney fanboys: cool or cult? Neither. However I don't like Disney fanboys hating on Busch Gardens and Seaworld for having animals then won't say a peep about animal kingdom. 32. Best Batman themed ride?Justice League Battle for Metropolis I guess if that counts. 33. Name something that tend to take home from parks that you didn't bring with you. A splitting headache. 34. Best wooden coaster over 110 feet tall? (rcdb will help you)El Toro 35. Have you ever been hit with something (loose change/a tree/vomit/etc) while riding something? An acorn on Superman at SFNE. Actually stung quite a bit. 36. Skywarps: credits or no? State your case. No, even it;s manufacturer says it's a flat ride. 37. Turkey legs: nah or yaaaaassssss? Not at a themepark no. 38. What is the most recent B&M that you rode?Silver Bullet 39. You can eat nothing but corn dogs, churros or funnel cake for the next 48 hours, which do you choose?Funnel Cake 40. Post a great on-ride shot of you from 2018. (DO IT!)Nice try FBI
  3. Went to the SoCal parks for the first time this year and only coaster that I came off of saying "that's it?" was Superman at SFMM. Slow "launch" all the way through, went halfway up the tower, lack of airtime and had this weird plastic shell covering half my body.
  4. I'm actually genuinely surprised at this announcement for Gwazi. I thought that structure was toast especially considering how long it's been closed, heat and humidity for wood etc. My mental image of Gwazi was a rotting wood heap, guess I was wrong.
  5. 1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Valravn 5. Magnum XL-200 6. Gemini 7. Gatekeeper 8. Raptor 9. Wicked Twister 10. Iron Dragon 11. Corkscrew 12. Blue Streak 13. Cedar Creek Mine Ride 14. Rougarou
  6. I stayed at Cedar Point Express last year and it was great. Nice, updated and clean. Not sure when you're going but I went first week of June for 2 days and didn't need express passes. Maverick was 45 min at peak (but we rode is 4-5 times in the morning during early entry) and Dragster was half an hour at most points. Gatekeeper/Raptor/MF/Valravn/Magnum were all 20ish or less 90 percent of the time. If you are going during a peak time, if it were me, I would have no qualms about spending the extra money for a platinum express pass due to the unlimited nature of the riding. I have no experience with the food pass. Luminosity was not showing the week I was there so I can't speak to it's quality. I recommend that if its open and the wait is reasonable always take your opportunity to get on Dragster, I did that one time skipping if "for later". It closed for the day and I didn't get on it. Cedar Point is also immaculate in it's cleanliness and care for the rides. They are a beauty just to look at. Park doesn't have the overall charm and themeing of other parks but makes up for it in many other ways. The views are incredible, there's a cute little petting zoo and the custard is really good.
  7. California trip, definite: Knott's Berry Farm Disneyland California Adventure Universal Hollywood Six Flags Magic Mountain First time at all these parks, feel very fortunate to be able to go on a trip this big, can't wait. Maybe: SFNE Lake Compounce Canobie Lake
  8. I only included around 50 of my credits because the others, while I have ridden them, are so long ago I don't think I can judge them properly. I also just don't ride coasters I know I won't like, like Rougarou which I skipped for a couple years then rode last year. Learned my lesson. So honestly 1-40 on my list are rides I would definitely ride again and aren't bad by any means. My bottom 10 are rides you probably won't get me on again though. Top10 Skyrush (undisputed #1) Maverick Storm Runner Superman:The Ride Phoenix Millennium Force Top Thrill Dragster El Toro Magnum-XL 200 Great Bear Bottom 10 Pandemonium SFNE Twister Knoebels (runs for cover) Cedar Creek Mine Ride Corkscrew CP Canobie Corkscrew Wildcat HP Flashback SFNE Goliath SFNE Mind Eraser SFNE Rougarou Thanks to whoever is doing all the work on this behind the scenes. I'm definitely a list kind of guy and can;t wait to see the results of your work.
  9. Top 5 Parks The parks that stick out as my favorites are greatly influenced by the sheer fun and memories I have of them mostly even if I haven't been to a couple of them in a long time. 1. Islands of Adventure IoA blew me away when I was a 13 year old kid. It was my first mega trip along with my brother, mom and grandmother. We went all out back in 2003 going to the Universal Parks, Disney, Seaworld etc. Loved that entire trip and this park was the best part. It was my first park where the rides had stories and the attendants were playing a role. Had my favorite flume ride at the time, Spiderman was incredible, Jurassic freaking park, bought some cool merch including an incredible Hulk comic. It just felt so much more adventurous that MK or other parks. It felt special. I look back at this park with the wonder of a young teen and my memories are so awesome. 2. Knoebels By far the park with one of the biggest pure fun factors. This place is just so relaxed and chill with some of the best rides around. Phoenix and Stratosfear are two of my all time favorite rides. That magical feel you get in that park around dusk with the fervor of the crowd and sounds of the rides blows Disney out of the water. Love the location, love the Bavarian nuts. Best rides, best food, best atmosphere but for some reason, maybe just retrospectively I had just a smigeon more fun at Ioa. 3. Hersheypark Hersheypark is up here simply because their coaster lineup is arguably the best in the world. Skyrush and Stormrunner are two of my top five coasters. I love chocolate world's cheesy tour from since I was a toddler and feel I must do it every time I'm there, and I've spend hundreds on sweets from the gift shop with no complaints. Zoo America is a cool little added bonus. The town of Hershey also plays a big role in this, nice quiet place with considerate people. Not a cluster when parking, crowds and lines manageable even though the place gets busy. Hershey has a unique feel of being a "corporate" type park but with heart and soul. 4. Cedar Point Love the depth and variety of attractions, by far the best in the world. The skyline is incredible and I love just taking a minute and watching some of the rides go. Raptor with the new paint is the best looking (and sounding) ride of all time. Location in terms of the peninsula is great. Lacks that special intangible something though to rank it any higher. Also lower on the list because there really isn't much around that area besides the park. 5. Bush Gardens Williamsburg Every other year or so Williamsburg was the summer vacation destination from grade school to high school. I love Appollo's Chariot and back in the day I though Alpenghiest was incredible. Loved walking around seeing the old Clydesdales and St. Bernards. Water country had always been the biggest and best waterpark I had been to at the time. Lower on the list than maybe it should be for how much I adore this park but 12 hour car rides on the 95 corridor are no fun (we always used to drive). HMs Seaworld/Canobie Lake Top 5 Parks I Want to Visit 1. Busch Gardens Tampa Been waiting almost my whole life to ride Montu and Kumba ever since my older cousins told me how great they were back in the 90s. Icons of rollercoasting that I've seen numerous TV specials on. Not only that but there are other great rides there that are exactly my kind of style ride. A park that I know I will love 100 percent. 2. Liseberg Would love to get to Europe and visit a park and this would be first on the list. Something about being in the city setting and their lineup of rides intrigues me for some reason. Likely to have 4 very solid rollercoasters in the next year that are particularly unique in regards to that setting. 3. Kennywood I feel like this is a park right up my alley in terms of rides and atmosphere. Phantom's Revenge is one of the top 5 coasters that I want to get on. 3 classic wood coaster I need to ride at some point. 4. Dollywood I really want to go to the Pigeon Forge area because I love touristy things that that. Lighting Rod is my most anticipated coaster and I've been very very close to going the past couple summers so I've worked myself up for this park previously. Also I love monkey bread and am assuming that their cinnamon bread will be one of the best things I've ever eaten. 5. Six Flags Magic Mountain Too many iconic rollercoasters I haven't ridden for this to not be on the list. Would really love to get out there and see the west coast in general. HMs to Europa/SDC/Holiday World.
  10. I always thought one of these would make the most sense at a park like Canobie Lake.
  11. 8-9 hours is just about the max from me wanting to drive anywhere now. I'm young though and don't mind driving at all so this year me and my bro woke up at 4am, drove 8 hours splitting the time (it's great having multiple drivers) got to Cedar Point at noon and had a blast for a few days. Anything more than that where it basically cuts a day out of a trip to dedicate to driving I'm not a fan of.
  12. Even on the busiest fright night days I've never had a problem with crowds being overwhelming so I'm sure you'll be in good shape. I'm not in the business of telling people what they should do but for me I highly recommend skipping out on Goliath especially if your time is short. I also recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time or expect to wait 30 minutes in a ticket line.
  13. I was there in the middle of last week for a couple days. After not going for over a decade to Cedar Point this has been two years in a row so I have a better feel for the rides I think. Last visit was great and I found I had even better rides on some coasters this year. Loved my visit. Honestly I could go and just watch and listen to the rides, they are all so vibrant and glorious looking (Raptor especially, my goodness). Frontierland and the lakeside midway have a special atmosphere about them rare for a park of Cedar Points scale. Some random thoughts for anyone that cares; Valravn was solid last year but really fun this time I rode it. I seemed to be less stapled in by the vest restraint this time and got air on the drop. The dive loop and roll also had very nice floaty sensations that were much more pronounced than last time. Surprisingly I also got air on that last hill. Was very impressed by it this time. Wanted to ride it a few more times during early entry but it was down, didn't mind. Too many good rides in the park, so I headed to Maverick instead. Also had the best ride I ever had on Magnum. Literally smoothest I have ever seen it. Odd because the people in front of me and behind me complained how brutal it was. Definitely a ride that depends on where you sit I think (new hot take right there). Maverick was great as usual, got to ride 3-4 times in early admissions with very little wait. I actually don't find Maverick that intense of a ride but very fun. Gatekeeper is honestly a meh ride that looks great offride but doesn't do a whole lot for me ridewise. Skyhawk by far the best flat ride in the park, could ride it all day. Rode Rougarou after skipping it last year. Wish I skipped this year. First 30 seconds I was like "okay this isn't to bad", latter part of the ride tried to detach my brainstorm. Cedar Point express was very clean and staffed by nice people. Only issue was the room cards. Had like 5 different ones. Sometimes they would let me into the building and not the room, other times room not building and other times nothing at all but not really that big a deal. Had some nice portraits of Raptor and Valravn in my room to sleep under. Good times.
  14. Don't think I've posted in this yet, Skyrush Storm Runner Superman the Ride/Millennium Force Phoenix Maverick Apollo's Chariot Magnum XL-200 Top Thrill Dragster Kraken
  15. I understand it's an incredibly complex machine and they would have it 100 percent if they could but it's really frustrating for someone who lives 17 hours away and will only visit there once a decade. Was going to head down to Dollywood last year but "cancelled" when LR was never open (yes I know it's an all time park without it but still). Was planning to go sometime this summer. Now I'm really questioning it again.
  16. Stayed at the Pine Barn inn last time I was there. Not the cheapest option but the place was immaculate and only 20 minutes away. Also next to a hospital if you're into that. Had a nice restaurant on site and was near a weis for the discount coupons.
  17. I try to make an effort to not go when I know a park will be jammed and I don't have a strong desire to ride brand new rides right away so my times are all pretty low. I also won't knowingly wait more than 2 hours for any attraction ever. First time at Cedar Point in 2003ish waited about 2 hours for Millennium Force. Thought it was okay. Went back this year and waited 12 minutes and thought it was superb. Go figure. Waited about 1.25 hours for Valravn this year. Only bothered to ride it once but the queue was decent and it wasn't a hot day. Fahrenheit at Hershey is the queue I hate the most because I know it's going to be at least double the second longest line in the park. I have also done scientific research that shows the sun shines hotter in that queue than anywhere else on Earth.
  18. I'd like to see the next coaster for Knott's come in the form of a hyper gtx. I think that fits the park much better (literally and figuratively) than a giga would.
  19. If you haven't been before I highly recommend Knoebel's and to go for a full day. That park is absolutely stunning. I went last year for two full days at the park 10am-10pm and still wanted to keep going. The parks atmosphere at dusk and night is indescribably awesome. Only 3 major issues with Knoebel's are that if you ride a ton it's no cheaper than any other major park chain, the bathrooms are hideous, and Twister sucks. Other than that it has 10 or so rides that are the best of their kind anywhere in the world, great food, and magic that pisses all over Disney. Hope I didn't hype it too much.

  22. Considering the impending recession it makes sense that parks are being cautious.
  23. Thanks for the explanation on Skyrushs' absence. Not that I take the polls too seriously but it seems quite the oversight.
  24. I want to know who Hershey pissed off. Skyrush not in the top 50? Never mind the fact it's a travesty to not have it in the top 10.
