Parks Visible From The Air?
Sir Clinksalot replied to UrbanLegend's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yep, flying into BUR you can see SFMM, especially coming in from Vegas. I've seen the Fireworks at DL flying into LAX before. -
What is your non-theme park travel bucket list?
Sir Clinksalot replied to disneyfan1313's topic in Random, Random, Random
Great Topic!!! Since we had our kids so young we really haven't been able to do much as far as international travel, but within the next 5 years we should be able to start doing some "couples" things. So because of that, most of ours are countries other than specific cities. And since my wife is unable to do coasters anymore due to her back issues, most of our trips won't include any theme park elements (other than Disney). Some of the trips we've talked about: Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece are at the top of our lists although eventually we'd like to see more. Already talking about spending at least a month in Europe in 2017) Austrailia Japan China Egypt Turkey Trans-Atlantic Cruise Alaskan Cruise Visit all 50 states and all national parks. Already have about 1/2 the states and most of the western national parks. And lastly, we've talked about doing the "visit all MLB stadiums in a summer" thing the year my son graduates HS. -
^ If you use the same building, why wouldn't there be? I'm no structural engineer but if you gutted the existing building removing all the seats, stages, special effects, etc for T2 and then add in a track for a dark ride, dark ride vehicles, some animatronics I don't see how that would be any heavier than what's there now. Not even to mention that there would be considerably less people going through a dark ride at any one time vs a packed theater.
-
I wasn't really a big fan of T2:3D. In fact I've probably only seen it 2 or 3 times during it's entire run, so no love lost there. I'm also a big fan of Despicable Me so I'm glad to see something coming for that. What I have an issue with is another movie based simulator attraction coming to USH. They don't need another one. I'd love to see them gut the entire building and build the family dark ride that USH needs and deserves. That building is PLENTY big enough.

As a HUGE fan of both, I think they are different enough to work ... maybe not in the same park though. Here's my issue with Universal getting this over Disney. Unlike HP where you could build Hogwarts and Diagon Alley and you will get a pretty good feel for the franchise since much of the stories take place there, with Middle Earth there are so many different locations they could draw from. Middle Earth should probably be it's own dedicated park other then trying to place them in the existing parks. I'm not sure how much room there is at USO, is there room there for a 3rd park or a major expansion for Middle Earth (not just taking over an existing land like they did with HP)? I would think WDW in particular would have more room to do something like this. But I'm not sure. The real issue would be USH. There isn't room for HP let alone HP and Middle Earth. They would seriously have to build another park somewhere for that to work. There is a lot of Farmland in Camarillo they could use. But IF this is true. I think it's fair to say Disney dropped the ball again. I mean, could you imagine Disney controlling both Star Wars and LOTR/Hobbit?

^ 49ers/Packers can't play in the NFC Championship game. They would play in the Divisional round. Divisional Round: 49ers play "highest remaining seed". Since GB is the 3 seed, if they win they will be the highest remaining seed. Falcons play "lowest remaining seed". So if GB beats MN they would play the winner of SEA/WAS. If MN wins SF would play the winner of SEA/WAS. -

Big news, Ray Lewis is retiring. One of my favorite players. Sad to see him go. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8803174/ray-lewis-baltimore-ravens-says-retiring-season Should be a good playoffs, I am of course rooting for the 49ers. If the Packers win this weekend (they should) then they will travel to SF for the Divisional round. I'm just glad Minnesota won last week so that game wouldn't be in GB. I actually think Atlanta will win their first playoff game against either Washington or Seattle (or Minnesota if they happen to win). Then again, Seattle is tough (at home though). I think Seattle will win in WAS this weekend though. In the AFC, I'm not totally sold on Denver. They had the easiest schedule in the NFL. Look at their losses ... ATL, HOU, NE ... all playoff teams. The only playoff teams they beat were CIN (before they were playing as good as they are now) and BAL (when they were playing like crap). Sadly, I think NE has a good chance to get back to the Super Bowl with HOU having an outside chance, but CIN looks tough. -

Is it wrong that I love my iPhone and my Galaxy Tablet pretty much equally? -
^^ I did it last year, it was a fun race. I did hear it's going to actually go through the park this year, so that should make it better. Since it's the week after the LA Marathon I probably won't do it this year. It was rough for me last year. If I was for sure going for Coast to Coast this year then I'd do the DL 1/2, but it's looking like next year will be my year for Coast to Coast/Goofy Challenge. I've actually decided I'm going to give my Disney $$ this year to other races, there are TONS out here and they give out bling too (although admittedly not as fancy as Disney's for the most part). I have my first 1/2 of the year this Saturday night in Downtown LA (scary) but the bling is pretty sweet.

I'm pretty sure the report is referring to "unscheduled" downtime. For example, if you "plan" on not having Jet Stream open until 11:30 on a 100 degree day (yes, I was there when this happened) it doesn't count as downtime, it's just part of the operating schedule. As others have said, all this report proves is their plan of catering to the YOLO crowd is actually working.

Yesterday they were telling everybody January. LOL. As for Log Jammer, I loved it and would ride it a LOT. Honestly, over the past few years, Jet Stream is probably the ride in the park we've ridden the most. One of our most memorable rides on Log Jammer was at WCB 2011 (I think) and we all got absolutely soaked. Good times ... good times.

^ HH can get pretty busy, we usually go up on Sunday morning in the summer, stay until about 1 or 2 and are usually able to do most everything with minimal waits. I think we went 7 or 8 times this past summer. I'm hoping they add a Season Pass Flash Pass this year where you can pay 1 price and get a Flash Pass for each visit.

You are kidding me right? SFMM has always been my "home park", so to speak. There were years when I went to Disney or Knott's more, but for the most part, SFMM is the park I've visited the most on a year-in year-out basis, and is without question the park I've visited the most. Here's my problem with the park: I REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!! That's it. It's not rocket science, it's not a conspiracy, it's not because it's "fun and easy to make fun of the park". The park lost it's way a LONG time ago, it tried to get it back under Jay (and I give them all the credit in the world for trying), but by that time it was too little too late. The damage had been done under Premier and there is no going back. The park realizes this, which is why they must go after the "thrill" GP. So before you make assumptions that we can't appreciate the park, step back and think of those of us who have lived near and loved the park for 30+ years (in my case) and imagine if your local favorite park just abandoned everything that made them once great. Wouldn't you be kind of pissed and not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt? end rant ...

Gas Prices where you live
Sir Clinksalot replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
I paid $3.35 the other day which is the lowest I've paid in a LONG time. Gas was $3.55 but I had a $.20 award from Vons Club that took it down to $3.35. -
Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper ... with a splash of Jack Daniels.

I think maybe the world did end. Facebook isn't anywhere near as annoying as I thought it'd be today.
