  1. The Browns remind me a LOT of my 49ers of a few years ago. They have the talent, they just need a coach to bring it all together.
  2. Looks like they are going to have a pretty awesome kids area!! As for counting Taxi Jam as a new credit, I didn't get the credit last year so it would be for me.
  3. I agree with the "I wish Six Flags would keep or maintain some of their classic woodies" thing to an extent. The issue is, for the most part Six Flags as a whole hasn't done this. There are a few Six Flags classic woodies that are still great like GASM (SFOG), American Eagle (SFGAm) but for the most part, most of them are mediocre at best. I'd actually anticipate them doing this to some of the more modern woodies in the next few years such as Viper (SFGAm) and the Roar's (SFA/SFDK). I wouldn't anticipate anything like GASM, GA Cyclone or Rolling Thunder getting this treatment. Rolling Thunder mostly because El Toro is already there. Still, I'd love to see their classics get solid rehabs and maybe topper track at the very least.
  4. I'm just not a fan of flying coasters overall and I thought they could have used the terrain more like they did with Ninja, Revolution, Gold Rusher and even Full Throttle to a certain extent. I know I'm in the minority where Tatsu is concerned.
  5. Wow, never posted my review of Django. Along with The Hobbit, it's my favorite movie of 2012 (still haven't seen a lot though). As others have said, I found it to not shy away from the harshness of slavery like so many other films tend to do while still being satire and having that Tarantino feel. There was at least one scene that was incredibly hard to watch not because it was so over the top, but because it was probably a pretty damn accurate depiction of a slave getting whipped.
  6. ^^ Of course they will find a way to screw it up. Just look at Tatsu, Green lantern and Full Throttle. I don't count Termpocalypse as that actually did deliver what was expected.
  7. ^ Colossus also has to deal with the earthquake codes in CA so if anything the structure may be stronger than those two. The structure will need some work though, I can see this conversion taking way longer than the other ones, and not just because it's SFMM. I think this is great news, Colossus is one of my favorite coasters in the park (not saying much) but it's in desperate need of something. I'd honestly be THRILLED if it just got the topper track and restored to it's ORIGINAL layout.
  8. I certainly think "evolving" is the right term. As others have said, 7-10 years ago you'd have a dedicated fan-site for every park and if you wanted to visit a particular park you'd pretty much have to join that forum for that parks fan-site ask your questions and then you'd never visit it again. Now with TPR, a few other sites, FB and Twitter you can pretty much get any answer you are looking for in one place. It's simply easier to get info now than it was then.
  9. Good luck this weekend everybody!!! Hope to join you all next year.
  10. ^ We are roughly the same age, and I totally agree. Not just for schoolwork, but we are finding as our daughter is looking at colleges it's much easier for her to narrow down her list of schools and much easier to find grants, scholarships, etc than it was in our day. Back in our day (1993) we had to **gasp** go to the Library to find stuff like that.
  11. ^ Win!!! And SFMM will NEVER go to Annual Passes. Could you imagine the confusion that would create. Also, the fact that all the other parks in the Six Flags Chain are seasonal means they will be Season Passes.
  12. Looks like I'm going to be helping my Mom and her partner move from AZ to PA next month. Is it wrong that my first thought was "Damn, there are no parks open this time of year". LOL!!!
  13. It's not the season pass system, Disneyland has figured it out over the past few years. You get your card from one of the ticket booths and then have one of the photopass people take your picture. It takes no longer than waiting in a ticket booth line. Or if you are renewing you get it in the mail and there is absolutely no waiting. And last I checked, Disney had WAY more passholders than SFMM. Does WDW do it this way now as well? Last time we had WDW AP's they were still using the paper ones (2007).
  14. ^ Agreed about the Ravens. Totally disagree about the Niners. Defense wins championships, a Ravens fan should know this.
  15. This probably doesn't mean anything to those outside of CA ... Huell Howser has died. http://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/2013/01/huell_howswer_dead.php
  16. ^ I certainly never saw it as an option when renewing our passes this year.
  17. ^ LOL!!! I think I need to change one of my picks for next week. I think SEA is going to beat ATL. I kind of hope not because if my 49ers win on Saturday I think I'd much rather go to ATL than have SEA come to SF.
  18. Yes, they extended the date until Jan 27th, but the same thing is going to happen again that weekend, and probably every weekend until then. We got ours processed the week between Xmas and New Years and purposely showed up to the park earlier than we would have to get our passes done. It took us about 10 minutes but by the time we were done the line was at least 45 minutes. They should have known then that the weekends were going to be crazier. Didn't they used to have a process where you could just use your previous years pass and they would mail them to you? I can't recall if Six Flags ever did this.
  19. ^ ATL doesn't scare me. I'd actually be more scared of playing SEA in the NFC Championship game (even though it would be in SF).
  20. ^ Those walk-around characters are pretty sweet.
  21. ^ I usually tend to go with experience at QB as well, but the old adage that Defense wins championships will win out. That means SF. OK, time to make fools of ourselves and make our playoff predictions: Teams listed are winning teams NFC: Wild Card: GB and SEA Divisional: SF and ATL Champ: SF AFC: Wild Card: IND and HOU (although the HOU/CIN game will be very close) Divisional: NE and DEN Champ: DEN Super Bowl: SF (yes I'm biased and will probably look like an idiot in a few weeks)
  22. That ride looks pretty awesome. How was it compared to recent B&M's?
  23. ^ My back still hurts from that day. I've always thought Robb's "Wheeeeee" sounds like the yellow Angry Bird. [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/NNh037PYzW8[/youtu_be]
  24. This is great news, and if this is the direction Knott's is going towards I can see it returning more and more to it's pre-CF awesomeness. It's already getting there with their improved food options (the new Ghost Town Grill is AMAZING) and all of the renovations done in Ghost Town. It certainly seems that corporate has decided that this park isn't just another acquisition they need to make a CP clone and it's obvious Raffi and Matt understand that. Really looking to see where the park goes in the next few years. I probably won't be down at the park too much this year, but I'm renewing my pass anyway.
  25. In one of the more sane rulings by the CA Supreme Court: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-amusement-park-injuries-20130101,0,6629591.story
