  1. The only Manteca slide pics I found were of the 2 bought and relocated to P/GA: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36113&highlight=manteca
  2. Scroll down, break out your mood rings and bell bottom pants and time travel back to 1971!: http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2007/07/walt-disney-world-now-and-forever.html
  3. Check out the latest turn of events, hopefully this comes true!: Obviously one of the large coasters could be the hillside terrain woodie Michael Bonfante had GCI come out and draw up plans for years ago. For the other, I'm hoping for a themed Eurofighter like Mystery Mine, would be a perfect fit for the park. Full article here: http://www.gilroydispatch.com/news/contentview.asp?c=217883
  4. Don't feel too bad, my dad did the same thing when I was growing up, thought for sure he'd disown me. But he surprised me, took him time to get used to it, now doesn't ever make those comments around me anymore. ^^ Hon, I'd check around for a local support group for questioning bi's, bet you'd find alot of others like you in the exact same situation, would really be surprised. Not saying you're bi or gay (I hate labels anyway!), haven't even had an opportunity to find out for yourself. But it always helps to talk with others in similiar situations that can offer ideas and support for what your going through. Doesn't sound like you're too happy, owe it to yourself to find out just what does make you happy. Tough situation, sending positive thoughts to you, best of luck!
  5. This was a hard one so I'll post the link since it's such a interesting bit of trivia (good read too btw): http://www.viamagazine.com/top_stories/articles/wow03.asp
  6. ^^ TOT? or Maliboomer, not sure which is faster. ^ poured the blacktop, bad day for high heels! What was Walts motivation and inspiration for POTC?
  7. SFDK's is pretty small too, shoehorned into a tiny corner. But since they didn't put much into the area, doesn't feel cramped, nice wide walkways and plenty of room. Although the sets look nice in pictures, would have been really nice if there had been some animation to them. Nothing moves (cept for Thomas's eyes), no sound effects, you pretty much just ride by stationary sets with that annoying song over and over again. I know I'm not the target audience for this, but I love me a good dark ride and consider rides like this "outdoor" dark rides. Whether indoor or outdoor, silent stationary sets are boring and cheap, why you don't see any at DL (the Grand Canyon diorama being the lone exception).
  8. You have very cool parents, consider yourself very lucky! They obviously care about you very much, and love you unconditionally, exactly the way it should be. Sounds more like they're concerned about the hate, discrimination and challeges you'll likely have to face, no parent wants to see their kids suffer. Just refreshing to hear their reason is only because they're concerned about you and not because of some book that encourages parents to turn their backs on their own children.
  9. I agree fireworks never get old. My b-day next week too, as a kid back in the day, they were legal all over Cali and I'd get at least 5 boxes worth as birthday gifts, total pyro heaven! Here's a cool display sim: http://www.pyrospectaculars.com/fireyourown.html
  10. Another very sad loss yesterday, this one on Rock n' Roller Coaster: France: Teenager Dies on Disneyland Ride By CRAIG S. SMITH Published: June 27, 2007 The police were investigating the death of a 14-year-old Spanish girl on the fast Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster ride at the Disneyland just outside Paris. A prosecutor said the death appeared to be a result of a pre-existing medical condition rather than a ride malfunction
  11. ^ me too, very intelligent and well informed response.
  12. I agree with Cameron, only morons would take any of the garbage and propaganda that comes outta Fox as "news".
  13. Ditto! no eyebrowns + eyeliner + blush = metrosexual by day, scary English drag queen by night!
  14. ^Exactly: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rHaVUjjH3EI
  15. Opening Fall 2009, a 250 foot tall, 35 acre man made mountain (eat that Disney!) and resort in of all places between Dallas and Ft Worth: Including a few bonafide thrill rides: Actual glacier wall, themed villages, themed indoor kiddie park (according to Park World), sounds more like something you'd see in Vegas or Orlando, all looks absolutely incredible! Check out the website for all the info (click on the middle snowflake for a virtual ride through the resort): http://bearfireresorts.com/
  16. Check out this video of this insane one in Europe (very top, righthand corner), if it's anything like this with all the sudden drops, bunny hillls and g-packed curves, might be worth $17.00! http://www.lifthill.net/videos_eng.php
  17. yeah, spend that time and $$$ instead at the much better, more beautiful, more bang-for-your-buck SCBB.
  18. Unfortunately not many images to be found, unlike coasters, waterslides aren't too exciting to photograph. One that may interest you though: Were bought and relocated to Boom Bay at GA: Images borowed from these sites: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/janson6330/album/576460762354634783 http://www.srcphotography.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=6&page=3 Was such a fun place as a kid, only waterpark on the West Coast you could camp at, made a nice weekend getaway.
  19. Screamscape had mentioned this awhile back, seems all there is is talk about it, be surprised if this ever comes to life like so many other theme parks proposals that never happen. This is what actually interest me the most!: Only Disney and Universal build $100 mil coasters, Disney already has their space theme indoor coasters. Wonder if Universal or a new player has something in the works! Better be in the U.S. and not overseas!
  20. Put me in the camp that doesn't get the whole dole whip fanjaya thing, to me it just tastes exactly like the pineapple sherbert ice cream my Grandma used to get for every party. Can buy the crap at any supermarket, maybe for those that never had it it's a big deal, but really nothing unique or groundbreaking to deserve such a fuss over (and yes I had one while waiting for the Tiki Room, still tasted like cheap pineapple sherbert to me).
  21. Just because fear and misinformation spreads alot easier than HIV, AIDS is not transmitted through casual contact such as this. Once outside the body, the virus immediately dies, so your fear and reasonings are incorrect. More like the park just doesn't want to bother with constantly cleaning blood off restrainsts if the ride does have some head blows.
  22. I think a major factor was that back in the day, parks modeled themselves after and tried to be local versions of DL. Tried to offer an equal, or as close as possible to, a DL park experience and everything that entails. Once the steel looping craze caught fire, they began moving away from the family oriented offerings and became more thrill park oriented. The media giants jumped in the park business in the late 80's-early 90's and further moved them away from a DL-like parks to simply use them as billboards, without any regards whether the parks offered a DL-like experience or not. Just became another outlet for them to advertise their latest products. And I agree with the OP, GA here in Cali looks and feels nothing at all like the original beautiful Marriott park. KECO did a good job of keeping much of the original park intact, but Paramount came in and basically strip-mined all the original theming, classic rides, charm and great atmosphere it once had. Out of all the big themers from the time though, I think the Busch parks are the exception to the rule, still as beautiful and gorgeous as they were back in the day.
  23. ^^^ The buffer between the hotel and park has alot of trees to block the view, just to give the hotel guest some privacy. But yeah, pretty amazing considering the entire park was just a paved parking lot a few years back. Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it!
  24. Belated TR of my recent visit to DLR with my BFF Donna, plus decided to check out the WB Studio Tour too. Rather than do a typical TR since everyone has either already been or already knows what all the DLR is all about, this is just more of a random trip report and random arty-farty shots around the resort. So if you're looking for coaster pics here, besides the facts that there just aren't many anyways at the DLR, you'll be disappointed. But if you're an architect dork like me, this is sort of a random homage and appreciation to the designers and landscapers who put so much and so many layers of intricate detail in every nook throughout the park, just never fails to amaze me on every visit. Drove down part of the way and stayed the night at the Lebec Ramada at the foothills of The Grapevine, very nice place! Woke up the next morning with these nice views around the motel: Checking in at the stunning Grand Californian, these beauties are the first things that greet you once you drive up to the hotel gate: Had booked an upgraded view of DTD, but instead got this much preferred view!: Monorail heading straight for our balcony! (on 4th floor, so no rooms below us, just track): Since there's not much at DCA that hasn't been already picture-taken to death, or worth shooting in the first place, these are honestly the only DCA pics I took. Yaa for Dragons!: Had to stop in DTD to say hey to my girl Ursula!: Hello gorgeous! (for those that didn't know, she was inspired by the late great much missed Divine): Best reason to come to Anaheim: Just some random shots of each area, here's some of Adventureland: Frontierland: Cheer for poo!!: Nawlins: Toons: Fantazyland: Few night shots (still trying to figure out why my spots keep coming out on my night shots ): Last few shots from our balcony: Moon over Grizzly Peak: On our way home, stopped at the WB Studio Tour, had never been, was very interesting and fun. Didn't get too many pics since they understandably have to confiscate your cameras several times throughout the tour though: What turned out to be a highlight was the huge cloud of smoke that began to appear: Our guide called in to make sure it wasn't the studio on fire, turned out to be the LA/Griffith Park fire of a few weeks back: Sure did look like it was right there, too close for my comfort: Had a blast as always in SoCal, will be back soon for sure, thanks for checking out the pics.
  25. ^ metrosexual = closet case congrats haydawg149! Your complimentary toaster is on its way . . .
