Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
CP Maverick replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't had problems with CP restraints, with the exception that 2003 was the year of the staple (Dragster) seat check. Skyrush, or Millennium Flyers, are the most uncomfortable restrictive restraints I've experienced. (I'm also bothered during long drives if my waist-band seatbelt gets too tight. I find restrictions against my abdomen and thighs to be extremely uncomfortable.) -
This game shows some promise. I like the slightly-off angle isometric style they went with. It helps give better spacial visualization than true isometric does. I'm interested to see how refined the coaster editor becomes. I would love it if they add backwards-building into the designer. Nearly half my RCT2 coasters were build starting at the end.

Personal peeve of mine. Running a 5 minute system reset is NOT "broke down" Closing due to wind speed is not "broke down" Having a cable snap or vehicle collide with brake assembly is "broke down" -

Gatekeeper has a very unique first drop. It's the ride after the keyhole that starts getting lazy. -

From this point on, Saturdays will be highly dependent on weather. The 10th will obviously be the busiest Saturday for the rest of the season, and on average they get busier closer to Halloween. So with that in mind, this Saturday has the lowest potential peak business before Halloween. It will still be significantly busier than Friday and Sunday. -

So I can buy a No Boo necklace and go through the mazes? That ought to be interesting. -

Are these "realistic" suggestions or simply a "wish list" of things people want? I've got plenty of both... -
B&M Restraints: Old vs. New
CP Maverick replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
GateKeeper, Wild Eagle, Banshee, Thunderbird are the only "new" restraints I've gotten to use, and the spacing between seats is significantly better. I've never been bothered by headbanging on a B&M. The worst restraints I've experienced are the heavy lap bars on GCI Millennium Flyers. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

I went on it when I was 18. Didn't have an option to ride it prior to that. -

Most voters probably rode it with the original shoulder restraints, which hurts the ride-ability of the ride. -
You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....

If you carry RollerCoaster Tycoon around on a flash drive to install on any computer you come across... If your briefcase/laptop bag for work has a folder dedicated to coaster drawings or concepts... If you take years of engineering and design classes for an incredibly small job market... -
Ludicrous park food prices

Captive audience. Same situation for Cinemas, sporting events, concerts, etc. Food is the true "profit" item in all entertainment situations. -

Unfortunately, Cedar Fair owns the land and not ride. -

Maverick can't dispatch trains when the previous train has cleared the top of the lift.... The train ahead wouldn't have even made it to the tunnel yet since the lift is so fast. I did say "ready to" dispatch. Given there is about 30 seconds from lift to tunnel, it's entirely possible to give the all clear before train 2 completes the first half. Whether or not operations is comfortable with this timing is another matter entirely. -

Until you compare demographics and find out a majority live closest to the East Coast parks, this skewing the ratings of "best" away from the smaller Midwest parks. -

Answer: Popularity This is a list of most popular "favorites" not objectively "best" comparisons. -

While that sounds like a good idea, I'm not sure there is enough space there for a full-sized midway. I would like the idea of having a clear view of the lake from more areas of the park. Breakers takes up a lot of room, so we're really left with everything south/east of WindSeeker for any real lakefront opportunities. -

Having 6 trains on Maverick should make the capacity better than it currently is. There is no reason* they shouldn't have the next trains ready to dispatch once train 2 clears the lift. *Sadly the reason is often guests, not operations. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
CP Maverick replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mystery Mine. Although, if they weren't doing maintenance as we left town, it might have been the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster. -

The only thing I want for Beast is skid brakes back. The accident a few years ago is going to prevent that. They could move the trims a little too. (As remove isn't an option) And what is the obsession with RMC? Half of a good coaster is presence, and RMC makes some ugly rides. -

The problem with any subjective poll like this is the difference between "best" and "favorite" when people vote. My "favorite" rides are not objectively the "best" rides I've been on. The same thing happens with movies. I promise you, Jurassic Park, Top Gun, Blazing Saddles, Aladdin, and Sleeping Beauty are not the "best" movies I've seen, but they are still my favorites. This results list is full of "favorites" and doesn't actually represent a "best" at anything except popularity. -

My suggestion box is full of Geauga Lake notes. And none of them include a generic box-store like the other 4 within a half mile. Not to mention the half empty plaza across the street. -
What is your favorite Roller Coaster?

Millennium Force Beast ...then a couple hundred more rides. -

If they did a tunnel, even above ground, at the bottom of the first drop (ala Beast) it would be enough to increase thrill/fear effect. The width of the cars would have a bonus effect of making the opening seem shorter as well. A splash-down is great for bystanders but irrelevant to the ride itself. -

Maybe they will remove the "eyesore" Cedars dorms and put in a new "eyesore" parking garage?
