  1. I'll be honest. I did not expect that turn to be that close to the ground. I was having trouble noticing the actual height on the webcam. Those shots are great. This week the weather has been perfect for construction.
  2. I think this applies to a lot of message boards.
  3. I've tried toggling views on videos before.
  4. It's themed easily as much as the three other B&Ms at the park.
  5. For the most part, the mazes are left in-tact. They are also used for storage as well, so some decorations may need to be moved a little.
  6. Taken from next to Corkscrew, between Coasters Diner and the Sky Ride. Valravn will be nearly all the way to the top of this photo. I did not upload the equidistant photo towards Power Tower, as I want to combine them in photoshop for scale reference.
  7. I have to keep reminding myself that there is a new X-Flight... I'm still used to calling Firehawk "X-Flight" ... oh and Magnum XL-200, again.
  8. This. I never understood people who refused to go on tilt a whirls. (I only know one person who's actually gotten very sick on one of those before) Never made me nauseous. In fact I've never been nauseous on a ride before. There are physiological reasons one would feel nauseous on a ride. I am able to ride most coasters many times, but Wicked Twister makes me dizzy. I can ride Skyhawk, but not MaxAir. It's not always about being "picky" but sometimes a legitimate concern.
  9. They open it with the front two cars only, and gradually add rows throughout the evening. By closing the whole train is full.
  10. In line for Magnum, several patrons were discussing (loudly) other amusement parks, brought up Dollywood 2016... "How can they launch a wooden coaster? What if it rolls back?!"
  11. Tickets? I don't need no stinking tickets!
  12. The support connector looks nearly level to me. The next option would be the lead-in to the brake run. I would need to look at the renderings/videos to get a better idea. I'm basing this assumption on the track connectors, as they are taller on the "right" end than the "left" end.
  13. I'd assume it would be similar to SheiKra's brake run that uses LIMs to slow the train down quickly and smoothly, and then friction brakes after that. Otherwise that's going to be a really long 1 block brake run. And for anyone who is curious, this is the new track piece in the preview center. . . Also, it's interesting to me that they have barriers around this piece when they didn't have them around the last piece. Eddy current brakes are not LIM. They are "powered" by the induced current caused by moving through the magnetic field. There are friction brakes at the very end of the brake run. All three trains will fit between the brake run, transfer table, and station. This piece of track appears to be the first out of the station.
  14. Well, they just went ahead and put a new piece of track in the preview center.
  15. Yes, they do. Check out Thunderbird. Other recent dive machines have used the same. I don't think Thunderbird is a good example as it uses a magnetic propulsion system as well. The brakes would have a different arrangement on the vehicle in that case. I have not seen newer dive coasters recently.
  16. As you see in the animation, and based on other recent B&M installations, the brake run will primarily be magnetic braking, with friction brakes only being used in places that will need to stop the train completely. The slope prevents the train from slowing down to a point where kicker wheels are needed to move it forward at a reasonable speed. Plus, unlike Intamin eddy brakes, B&M does not have the ability to retract the magnetic brakes away from the train.
  17. You can also see, in that image, the transfer table block shifted to the left. I wonder, have they removed the sample track from the preview center?
  18. Fortunately for Adventure Express, that is not the first drop.
  19. In general, the "footer" you see attached to the ride is part of a much larger "foundation" that is under the ground. The water table and depth to bedrock will determine the sizes of these foundations. There are times where the footer and foundation are one single block of concrete, and times when you have several footers on one single foundation.
  20. Wow... Ka is ten years old already...
  21. Tickets on sale tomorrow night for The Force Awakens.
  22. Problem #1... the comments you are critical of are written in broken English, obviously not their first language. Unless you are critical of someone trying to communicate in a way you could understand?
  23. If I were CP, I would always put Maverick and Dragster on FL+ with anything else varying year to year (i.e Rougarou this year, Valravn next year). Those two get backed up the fastest.
  24. Raptor, easily. The quickness and intensity is matched only by Maverick. Rougarou is a great modification to Mantis. I liked Mantis before, but re-rides would take a toll on you. No longer the case. GateKeeper is a good ride, and fits the relax on the beach theme well. It's a must-ride, but not a must-ride-many-times like the other two. I can only imagine Valravn will be closer to GateKeeper than Rougarou, but the view alone may be a redeeming quality unmatched by the other B&Ms.
  25. Another comparison to make is the tower section of Breakers. That takes up only 33000sq ft. There is room over there for a small suites tower style resort. As it is, the original entrance, wings, and pool section take less that 60000sq ft. Obviously parking is an issue, but there is space over there. Also, based on: http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-area-calculator-tool.htm Cedars dorms + infield 80,000 sq ft. Rougarou twister/station/dive loop/transfer takes about 80,000 sq ft. Valravn site takes about 120,000sq ft. Sandcastle + pool 95,000sq ft. Snake River Falls 30,000 sq ft.
