  1. I rode it in the back row of the first car last year and it was great! Well, I thought it was great but BF didn't tighten his seatbelt enough haha. Someone recently said something about riding it in the front row of the last car. Is this also another magic seat or are they making it up? I almost always ride it in the first row of the last car, and it gives me the best ride, with the least roughness, of anywhere that I've found! (Front is fun as well, but it's been so long since I've sat there, since there's always a long wait, while there is usually hardly any wait for the other row.) And no, I'm not making this up!
  2. I was wondering about height restrictions at the park, and actually tried to find out that information, to no avail, prior to posting about the "Strata" coaster. Thanks for the clarification! We can safely cross that one off the list! I still feel like the leader in the clubhouse (my "clubhouse", at least) is a JL:BFM installation. That being said, I still have this nagging feeling this might be something bigger, something more along the lines of a custom RMC. I DO think they have to view the area as a larger whole than just the greater Atlanta area, and there is no doubt in my mind, that the actions of Carowinds and Dollywood do not go unnoticed to the SFOG brass. Still, if I had to pick a side in the debate between larger addition, or another clone... Come on! This is Six Flags we're talking about here! Of course I'm coming down on the latter side!
  3. I'm all about anything that has to do with snakes! Especially real ones!
  4. I'm all about Cornball's airtime! It's a top 5 wooden coaster for me, and unlike the above poster, I definitely prefer it to Legend and Raven at Holiday world! I too, was basically standing up every time I rode it. Fabulous airtime machine!
  5. So, this out of left field idea came to me earlier, regarding SFOG's 2017 addition... What if we finally see another Intamin Accelerator Coaster like TTD or Kingda Ka? What better response to Lightning Rod, and Fury, than claiming the crown for the world's tallest coaster (think around a 475 foot top hat, with a 133 mph launch)? It's a bit of an outside the box idea, but it would certainly make a statement for SFOG, and there's definitely room for it at that location! Food for thought, at least...
  6. Adding to this list... KY - Storm Chaser Also, I think I actually prefer Volcano: The Blast Coaster over Apollo's Chariot, when it comes to Virginia coasters.
  7. I can't speak for anybody else, but as for me personally, the twist on the drop of both Kingda Ka and TTD, while fun, DOES take away from the "Wow! I'm hurting headlong towards the ground!" excitement, and feeling, I get on more traditional lift hill coasters. Personally, I find the 100 foot drop on Maverick more exciting than the 400 foot drop on TTD. But that's just me. That's why coasters like KK and TTD, while fun, aren't super high up in my rankings. "Gimmick" is a term that is way overused by enthusiasts in reference to coasters, and coaster elements, but I'll be honest... That's kind of what the Height/Speed records on those coasters feel like to me. Just my .02, however, and it certainly doesn't have to be that way for anybody else, or offend anybody!
  8. Wow! That is awesome! I love anything terrain hugging to begin with, and while I may not be as ardent of a fan as you, I do really enjoy the old Log Flumes!
  9. Yeah, I had forgotten about how close Dollywood is! So that only further hits home my point, that they seriously need to step it up in terms of a sizable coaster addition, after seeing the two closest competing parks add the world's tallest Giga coaster, and the world's first launched wooden coaster, in consecutive years! The shots have been fired, SFOG... How will you respond in your battle for the Southeast not named Florida?
  10. I had totally forgotten about Demon Drop! You're right, there is at least one thing in the park worth being excited about then! (Not saying the Log Flume may not be great as well... And at least they still have a log flume!) Having ridden both, Titan is a much better ride. Titan has great intensity, the way a hyper should. If by intensity you mean throwing random blackout helixes into a 250 foot kiddie coaster then sure I literally lol-ed! The drop into a tunnel (I'm always a sucker for a tunnel) is the only thing I remotely care for on Goliath at SFMM...
  11. Sadly, this really seems to be true. I've been to the park three times, over a large span of years, and each time, this was a major issue. Heck, the middle time, when I went with my wife, the thuggery and intimidation that we routinely experienced in lines actually left her a bit scared, and damaged her overall park experience. I was able to shrug it off a bit more, and it wasn't as bad the last time I went. But still... Yuck! I have literally had this term rolling around in my head ever since reading it! Too funny! I definitely foresee myself using it in the future now!
  12. I agree that Goliath is ridiculously forceless but trust me... Steel Force has it beat. At least Goliath has a decent helix which is one more interesting element than Steel Force will ever have. Serious question: Is there any coaster at Dorney worth being excited about? I've always wanted to go, but it sounds pretty underwhelming from what I'm reading in this thread!
  13. Ragin' Cajun was almost my favorite ride in the park when I rode it at Six Flags Great America, so I'm guessing there's a decent chance that it WOULD be my favorite ride at SFA if I went there!
  14. ^This is how I feel about Goliath at SFMM! There is no way Steel Force could be more worthless than that massive disappointment!
  15. That's obviously photoshopped. I don't think so. It looks legit to me. Literal By the way, the one thing (besides the early start on land prep) that makes me think a large coaster addition is actually possible, is that Carowinds just added a dynamic, marquee coaster in Fury. Now, if you're from the area, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that be SFOG's biggest competition on the market? Six Flags nay be feeling the heat to respond, and maybe a B&M Wing Coaster or RMC Goliath type coaster is what they feel would snag some of the attention back. Just a thought...
  16. I haven't been on Steel Force (or from the sound of it, Steel Farce), but how does it compare in your opinion to Mamba and Wild Thing? I actually quite enjoyed Mamba years ago, and, thought Wild Thing was fun as well! Neither comes close to my #1 Hyper (Morgan, or otherwise), Phantom's Revenge, but they were my favorite coaster in their respective parks at the time (both pre-GCI, pre-Inverts.)
  17. My lack of riding good wooden coasters is so bad, that Apocalypse from SFMM actually sneaks into my Top 10! How lame is that?!?
  18. It might be awhile. In order to take a video they need to dispatch a train. I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future.
  19. So, are the Bumper Cars going to be gone immediately? Or after this season? If they're gone immediately, that would seem to indicate something of a larger scale is coming next year. If at the end of the year, it's probably either a JLBFM, 4D, or Zamperla Giant Discovery (themed to Lex Luthor!)
  20. In the month of June, the best coaster I have ridden, is definitely Storm Chaser!!!
  21. I would never say Kingda Ka isn't a coaster (it is), and certainly a drop is a drop is a drop. However, my point is that the whole "top hat to reach record breaking heights", or "coaster winding down a tower gradually" don't hold a candle to an actual lift hill, followed by a drop of nearly the same height, when it comes to really experiencing what it's like to: a) be really high up on a coaster, and b) plummet straight down towards the ground, without distracting twists or curving around a tower. And again, this is how I feel, personally, and how I break things down. Every enthusiast or GP can have their own opinion on the matter, and every enthusiast or GP is right!
  22. One time I rode it, it didn't even really stop at the mid-course much at all! Now that's a "problem" I like to have!
  23. Man, I really hope to be able to get out here for PPP this year! Never been, but the raves about it are virtually unanimous! Hoping to bring two of my kids, too!
