Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
LiftThrill replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If we're talking about attendance, would Dorney need less roller coasters to balance out the lines? -

The vertical launch lift thingy did seem a little like something that would be a maintenance nightmare, but hey, who knows. A vertical lift of that height and speed would also be awesome. The lack of OTSRs in the POV also makes me excited to see how it turns out -

It really doesn't. Another coaster would be great for any park, but CW doesn't really need a new coaster. You have a hyper and a giga, something that very few parks can boast, and 16 total roller coasters. That's more than pretty much every other park out there. -

That might just be the twistiest coaster ever made. Looks amazing. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Oh yeah you're right. Didn't look carefully. But yeah my point still stands. One of the lower-tier rides at the park, and could be improved more than Corkscrew with the VR, because unlike Corkscrew it doesn't hurt and it's longer. So it's actually a better candidate than Corkscrew. -

Fine by me. CP is known for having good operations so VR shouldn't be as much of an issue as with Six Flags, and even if it did cause a SF type issue, it's Corkscrew which sucks anyway, and might be improved with the VR. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. -

Must feel good to be the park and RMC right now. Finally got all of that technical stuff worked out. Hopefully nothing else pops up. -
Another coaster that I don't like but pretty much everyone else does is Tennessee Tornado. It wasn't really any smoother than any of the other Arrow loopers I've been on, the seats are ridiculously cramped, and I got more smacks to the head than a Boomerang. Seriously, how on earth do you manage to get a giant headbang in the middle of a giant loop? The restraint also dug into my shoulders pretty bad.

Haven't been to the Disney waterparks, but I do live nearby to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels and as water parks go, it's awesome. That being said, Splashin Safari exceeded my expectations and is probably my favorite waterpark even for only having gone on three of the rides there. There were so many other things to do that piqued my interest that we didn't get around to. I could totally spend an entire day at just the waterpark. Lots of rides on Wildebeest would be had. -

Can't wait for the Incrediblecoasters SFOG update! This is a great way to live life. -

Six Flags definitely has been more conservative with their money since the recession, and I think if you look at the past few years, Cedar Fair is much more likely to build the next #1. It's not impossible that Six Flags comes out with an awesome RMC somewhere in the chain, though. -

I like scary ejector air as long as the restraint's comfortable, and I don't think a more comfortable restraint than the B&M clamshell will ever exist. Seriously those things rock. -
Worst Coaster Ever?
LiftThrill replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not a fan of the layout and it's not that exciting, but I like it more than the standard Boomerang because there's no headbanging. I rank it above the low-tier mine trains but underneath the middle-tier family coasters like Firechaser Express, La Vibora, etc. It's not something I would wait in a long line for but not something I'd never ride again. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
LiftThrill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I've been wondering that myself. Carowinds is up there with SFGAdv on my bucket list right now just because of Fury, by the way. I love the sensation of speed and apparently Fury delivers it better than Millennium Force, plus it has strong airtime. That's pretty much an automatic #1 coaster, because all MF is missing in my opinion is a section of the ride dedicated to ejector air. The current hills deliver good airtime in the front and back seats but only the last one really delivers in the middle. From just a technical/POV standpoint, Fury could easily become my #1 coaster. Its layout is almost like an RMC giga coaster with the banking, speed, drop, etc. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
LiftThrill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah it might be that it's early in the season but I feel like even if it was running rough it would still be equally awesome, maybe even more so. The layout is just so strong that even if it was rougher than Raven it would still be a top ten woodie and a top ten overall coaster for me at least. -

Can't wait. Once it's up this will definitely be a destination to hit on my Orlando trip some number of years out. -

Oooh namecalling what fun. We're also namedropping the M&D's incident? "Edgy stuff in here guys" as you said. Took the words right out of my mouth. Chill. We're talking about the sound a roller coaster makes. Is it really that big of a deal? lmao. Oh and now you're derailing it way more than I ever did, but that's besides the point. My main point right here. This too. I don't mind it tbh. Especially because it has absolutely nothing to do with Holiday World at all, just something he's saying to make me sound less credible, and it's true that the ride he mentioned is my least favorite coaster. Anyway, since I'm done talking about the sounds roller coasters make, has anybody else noticed how smoothly The Voyage has been running this season? I've heard things about it being really rough but I honestly found it to be one of the smoother woodies I've been on. Raven is much rougher and Legend wasn't exactly that smooth in the non-retracked areas.
