  1. You're comparing a ride that has been open for 13+ seasons to a ride that has been open 1.5. That's a pretty uneven comparison. The Vertigo they are talking about this: Vertigo @ Walabi Belgium Not the Vekoma inverted boomerang Pretty sure they are referring to TTD. That ride was a monstrosity. Really. I was lucky enough to ride it in 2007. I remember that it was very impressive to see this coaster high up in the air, dominating the park's skyline. It was kind of scary how the track rocked from side to side, though. But it was fun, and really felt like flying. While the coaster itself was nothing too spectacular and it was not the prettiest ride out there, at least is was unique.
  2. The Viking Voyage will open June 16th!
  3. Intamin! Taron or Helix?
  4. No. Do you prefer Balder over Colossos?
  5. Efteling will open a spectacular new attraction within three years The new attraction Symbolica is not open yet, but the Efteling is already busy with the next major expansion. The theme park opens a spectacular attraction within three years. That's what Efteling director Fons Jurgens told in an interview with Looopings. "In order to attract five million visitors by 2020, we invest in three phases," says Jurgens. "The first phase consisted of the arrival of rollercoaster Baron 1898, and the extension of Bosrijk holiday park in 2015. Phase two will be realized this year, with Darkride Symbolica and Loonsche Land holiday park." In 2019 or 2020, the third phase is in turn. "We have beautiful, ready-to-use plans for attractions. What attraction is coming has not yet been decided." One thing is clear: Jurgens wants an attraction with a decent capacity. "In this way, we can keep the waiting times in check. It would be unwise to invest in attractions with a capacity of less than a thousand people per hour." Symbolica has a capacity of 1400 visitors per hour. In February, the new Efteling master plan was unanimously approved by the City Council. The theme park is expected to grow by eight hectares in the coming years. A piece of land at the Efteling Hotel - between Vogel Rok and the Python - is being drawn to the park. Also, the Efteling has plans for attractions up to 50 m (165 ft) high. A spokesman of the park confirms to Looopings that in the new piece of land the park is allowed to build up to fifty meters high. Source
  6. I'm guilty of this too, holy cow. Was about to dissect his post before it finally hit me. Glad I wasn't the only one
  7. M&M's Shambhala or Diamondback?
  8. That looks awesome! Thanks for sharing. So I assume Slinky Dog will run 4 trains (1 in the station, and 3 storage tracks)?
  9. Big changes for Walibi Belgium. Even though the announcement of the park has been postponed, Walibi Belgium has communicated some information. First of all, Aqualibi will receive a 673 m² extension. The latter will be aimed for children from 0 to 7 years old and their parents for whom covered beaches will be made available. Second, the Coccinelle (French name for Ladybug), open since 1999 will be dismantled in September 2017. This is a Tivoli model from the German manufacturer Zierer. This model is intended for kids since the attraction is only 10 ft tall (3,3 m) and reaches only 16 mph (26 kph). The good news in this story is that the ride will be replaced. The work would begin in September 2017 for an opening scheduled as early as Easter 2018! Also, we are waiting for the official announcement of the park about a supposed 100 million Euros investment plan. Note that some attractions could be moved within the park. Similarly, we now know that the Ferris wheel operating at the park from 1979 to 2016 was bought by Attractiepark Rotterdam. It is a Dutch park under construction which is scheduled to open in 2018. Finally, the director of the park has recently announced "fundamental changes as early as 2018". "It will be a great year, because we are going to start a real reconfiguration of the park. I can not tell you more at this time because we still have to make sure we get the necessary authorizations, but the calculations are in millions of euros." In 20 years, 70% of the park will have changed. Source
  10. Chiapas is by far my favourite log flume. It is awesome! Granted, I haven't ridden Splash Mountain yet, but OMG I love Chiapas!
  11. Seems like the trains for Mine Blower are ready to go! Source
  12. All B&M coasters technically have a "zero car". The only difference is that some have seats on it and some don't. The first two rows of all B&M coasters tilt at the same angle. These two picture really explains it better than anything. Monster - Walygator Parc Batman The Dark Knight - Six Flags New England I came to understand that without the zero car, the train would not be level as it traveled. Each car would tilt forward or backwards a little or something like that. With the two front cars unable to "see-saw" or having a zero car on the front or back of a coaster doing basically the same thing, it forces the rest of the cars throughout the train to stay level. This isn't done on just B&M's, its done on all coasters who's cars only have one axle. This is why some rides have what seems to be a very small zero car or basically a second axel on the rear of the last car while the rest of the cars only have one axel on the front of each car. This extra axle or small zero car does the same as a zero car on a B&M or having two cars connected. Notice the two cars at the top of the picture below, they are aligned perfectly. That's because they're the first two cars, which are connected. If you take alook at the others, you'll notice how they are all leaning forward. That's because they do trailer off of the first two. Scream! - Six Flags Magic Mountain So in general, the zero car is there to give the first trailered car something to hitch to. Each car has only one axle, and hitches to the car in front for stability.
  13. Kärnan likes to have a word with you.
  14. I've ridden 8. But by the end of this year, it will be 13.
  15. What is really interesting, is that Efteling has taken the fourth place from Tivoli Gardens (now 5th) for biggest theme park in Europe. That's great news! Disneyland Paris, Europa-Park and Walt Disney Studios are - as always - taking place 1, 2 and 3. Only 200k more, and Efteling will be the 3th biggest theme park in Europe!
  16. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I will consider staying a day longer in Mirabilandia (especially since the second day is free!). But normally, every major ride and all the coasters + re-rides can be done in one day, right?
  17. Booked now. Taron here I come! Have fun! Taron is awesome, but I guess you already knew that It's no coincidence that it is my number 2!
  18. Some more photos of Symbolica's roof. Also, some photos of the first decorations in the queue. Source
  19. That looks absolutely amazing! Less than a month until opening, can't wait!
  20. ^Thanks for the reply. That's interesting, since I thought Gardaland was the two day park. May I ask why you would spend two days at Mirabilandia and only one at Gardaland?
  21. I am planning to visit Mirabilandia in the first week of September, combined with Gardaland. Does anybody know how crowds usually are in September for this park? Also, do you think one day will be enough to cover most of the rides, including rerides on Katun and iSpeed? I am planning to stay two days in Gardaland, and one in Mirabilandia.
  22. Dollywood. Lost Gravity or Goliath (Walibi Holland)?
  23. Lost Gravity at Walibi Holland, a couple hours ago. What a fantastic coaster!
