Dive Machines? What are your thoughts?

^^lol I'm pretty sure B&M has better things to do than respond to one of us enthusiast's naive questions -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Coaster Hero replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it's a safe assumption that this is the reason behind the 8-across rows. The new hardware likely just doesn't fit with the 10-across version, and Cedar Point chose guest comfort (though many of you will cry foul on that one) over capacity. Not exactly. Just by looking, I can tell that Valravn's train is about 1 seat narrower on each side than Griffon. I could be wrong though, as it's a guesstimate at best. If I'm right, then I'm not sure why they went with 8 across vest trains. Also, am I the only tall guy who actually really likes the vests and hates the OTSR's? I'm beginning to notice a trend here -

I'm personally really happy about the restraints. I've experienced both the vest and the old school OTSR's. The OTSR's are horrible, the restraint goes around your head so headbanging is inevitable if you're a tall guy like me. The vests are lightyears better. The ones that lock can be painful if it's tight, but the free ones are fantastic. Plus, no restraint near your head so headbanging can't really happen. They're not too restrictive even given my height. I really hope Valravn's restraints don't lock. Do Gatekeeper's? If they do, then that's unfortunate for Valravn Also, FINALLY all those people saying the name is changing will shut up -

*pretends to be surprised Even though it's the leaked layout, I said it once and I'll at it again; That's a good layout. The first half is admittedly uninspired but the second half looks so great it makes up for it. Congrats CP, I think you have a huge wintering your hands. The GP will eat it up and is going to be great. You'll see! -

Does anyone know where the livestream for the announcement will be? I was under the impression it would be on CP's website but 2016 isn't mentioned -
Theme Park Three Mistakes
Coaster Hero replied to Rollercoaster Rider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Id take Green lantern over x flight. Instead of that Ill say not getting approval from the state for operating Kingda Ka and killimajaro at the same time. Well the whole Zumanjaro thing really isn't the parks fault so I didn't include that. I'd put that over the El Toro slowdown thing for sure. To be honest, I was running out of ideas -
Theme Park Three Mistakes
Coaster Hero replied to Rollercoaster Rider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFGadv 1. Receiving Green Lantern instead of theoretically receiving a wingrider a few years later(rumor has it that SFGam was supposed to get it, and they got X-Flight. Which would you rather have?) 2. Disconnecting Plaza Del Carnival from the Golden Kingdom 3. Slowing El Toro's cable lift (I know, I know, structural tension and all that. Still though, the drop went from insane ejector to less insane ejector) -

Whatever that dude is smoking is seriously strong. What is this? Some conspiracy theory? How does one make "a 600ft poler coaster rise out of the ground"? -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Coaster Hero replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Completely agree with this statement. For whatever reason it was glass smooth when I rode in July. The year before though, it did have a rattle, but barely noticeable and certainly not enough to complain about personally. ^^I feel like the IntaRide coasters like I305 actually should keep the OTSR's, and I think they're a bit necessary. The extremely quick transitions tend to shuffle your torso left and right so it helps to have a restraint that actually keeps your body in place... at least, that's my reasoning. I don't have any statistics to support this but I can't even imagine I305 with lapbars for better or worse. On an unrelated note, I'm glad this thread has finally calmed down from what happened a while ago. I can finally read without cringing -

^Agreed. A unique drop tower like that, the only one in the north and the east, would be incredible. Here's to hoping it happens someday! -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Coaster Hero replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dominator is definitely one of the better floorless coasters... definitely underrated in my opinion. It's tall, fast, has a nice long layout, and best of all it's actually really forceful. It's actually one of the more forceful B&M's I've ever ridden. Not to mention the drop out of the MCBR is bliss . It's not my very favorite in the park (that right is reserved for I305) but it's definitely in my top 3. For the park, I rank it just a millimeter below Volcano because the launches are just incredible, and feel weird and unnatural (in a good way) on an invert. The theming is great, and for a brief second after the second launch you're in the volcano and you can just see every one of the millions of the supports in the volcano.. that was really trippy and really got me when I rode. I only wish it did something more interesting with it's layout than the repeated heartline rolls, not to say it's boring at all. -

Weird Coaster Facts
Coaster Hero replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Got some El Toro facts! 1. Apparantly, the top of the rails at the crest of the airtime hills looks almost new because the top wheels never touch it 2. El Toro's chassis actually allows it to run backwards, according to RMC (Could you imagine?) 3. El Toro's rails are designed to the exact same specifications as RMC's ibox and topper track, meaning it's the exact same size, which makes sense given RMC's heavy involvement. In the very, very distant future keeping this ride maintained shouldn't be that much of a problem. 4. (This might have been posted already, I vaguely remember reading it somewhere) During the colder months, it runs very sluggish; so much so that they actually install some friction wheels at the crest of the hill leading into the brake run -

Wooden Roller Coaster Worries
Coaster Hero replied to LaRondeQC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^There's a closeup picture out there of El Toro's train on the RT hill, and you can clearly see that NONE of the top wheels are even touching the track. It's of course designed to do that. That's why El Toro's airtime hills are loud as heck, because the upstops are slamming up against the track! -
Six Flags gets reduced prices on RMC conversions (until this year, actually, ROAR/ The Joker was the last one) for giving RMC exposure and making them what they are today. Most of the time prototypes are discounted anyway because of the involved risk, and that was the case with NTG. The discounts continued until now, where they will cease. That's basically why SC and LR are costing what seems like a lot to us

Weird Coaster Facts

With the exception of Ragin' Cajun at SFA and the Superloops for obvious reasons, EVERY SF coaster for the last 3 years has been fabricated by RMC. -
Rattle on a coaster, can it be fixed?
Coaster Hero replied to FaithPlus1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yeah, I'm aware of that . I was just saying it shakes so much more than your average coaster because of it's much higher speed that it makes the time waiting in line go a bit faster. I noticed this topic was also brought up in the "wooden coaster worries" thread as well. -
Wow, how did I miss this park? The accelerator looks great! Always glad to see an Intamin being built EDIT: Scratch that. After looking through the other pictures I change my opinion to, "that accelerator looks fantastic ". The layout looks really cool and unlike other accelerator coasters it actually has a lengthy layout

Ever heard of the "Rattler Bend"? There's a reason they converted it to Iron Rattler (It's on youtube, and I think you'll be surprised when you see it!) -
Impact of a bad visit
Coaster Hero replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Preach! I've dealt with this problem to no end. Honestly unless the SR line is signifigantly shorter than the regular line, it's not worth it, even if you are a single rider. I never use it anymore because I ended up waiting 2 hours in the SR line once and people were getting in from the regular line in 45 minutes.
