  1. I think it's because Bizarro actually has a good layout and some great airtime and forces while the other clones do absolutely nothing. Have you ridden either of the clones? Because they are both amazing rides that combine speed with amazing ejector airtime. The forces are far more intense than pretty much all B&Ms on that list. Bizarro is superior to both, but they're not that far off. Not only is that poll a popularity contest, but the smaller parks don't get appreciated as much either. If anything all Intamin hypers should be on that list before a Morgan hyper even touches the top 50. Completely agree. The R:OS clones are ridiculously underrated.
  2. When complaining about the purpose of this thread, please remember that this is all purely hypothetical
  3. Any source for this? I saw it in an article on The Coaster Critic's site. There are like a million articles there though so I can't find and link it.
  4. Uhh... why on the face of the earth is Hades 16 spots above T Express? (Heck, why is T Express #47?)
  5. The first element being a flat turn was intentional. The sustained g's had more of an effect on riders than they thought. Like I said, they wanted to keep it low to the ground as much as possible, plus it's like the only part of the coaster that resembles NASCAR
  6. ^I wouldn't be surprised. After all it was Intamin's fault that it all happened.
  7. Nitro is really temperamental. Sometimes I'll get a really sluggish ride with little to no airtime and then a few hours later I'll get borderline ejector on every one. It depends on temperature, train, row, and a whole bunch of other stuff. But do I think it belongs in a top 10? Not really
  8. How unfortunate. And it looked like a great coaster too
  9. ^The way they did the concept art was really creative. They recreated the ride in No Limits 2 and then took the images and overlaid them to real pictures of the park, which is why it looks so convincing
  10. ^Oh are you a ride op for KK? If so I'll definitely try to see you one of these days!
  11. I think Fury 325 certainly deserves to make the top 10 steel in the golden ticket awards. It's a really solid fun ride full of awesome elements. Out of the 3 giga coasters I have ridden I would rank them like this: #1 MF at night in the front seat (very slight edge over i305 because it was such a euphoric experience) #2 i305 any seat any time #3 MF any seat any time #4 Fury 325 Like my ranking implies, MF is only better than i305 in one circumstance...but Nitro, AC, and Intimidator 232 all placing above i305 and Maverick?!?!? I reckon Carowinds will advertise Fury and Intimidator being ranked #4 and #7 respectively. Did anyone go to the park this weekend? What were crowds like? Yeah parks always use this poll for marketing. It's definitely gonna happen.
  12. ^As if there were any doubt that even in the Golden Ticket F325 would smash anything else
  13. I'm just going to say this; The southern U.S and Virginia in particular really received an absolute monster with I305, the likes of which they've never seen. I mean, how many rides in that area are that intense? It was a completely new experience for most people, one that 99% of people had never even come close to in terms of intensity. If it had been built at lets say the Northeast U.S it would have been a bit different because we have El Toro, Bizarro at SFNE, rides that already are intense so people are accustomed to it. But in the Mid Atlantic, there's nothing like that and I think people (even enthusiasts initially) were simply not ready for it. But I think people have gotten used to it now. The level of hype it generates in the park is impressive. The station is always loud, people yelling and cheering, it's pretty great. It's definitely not for anyone who can't handle it, but I think that parks having one insane ride that takes guts to conquer is a good thing; which is why I think KD should go with something less intense for their next installment. Something that the GP will love and want to re-ride, but at the same time enthusiasts can enjoy (and If they whine about forcelessness they can shut up and go ride I305 next door )
  14. I'd love for them to try an Intamin Mega lite (which goes into another point that I'd like them to start going to many manufactures again instead of always going to B&M) or even a Chance hyperlite at one of their smaller parks. Those things are packed with airtime from what I've heard and they don't even cost too much. I also remember a time when a lot of CP fans wanted something similar to El Toro at the park. I believe one of the GM's actually rode El Toro and liked it and then people started believing that a Prefab was coming to CP, which of course never happened. That would be pretty cool. Also, I'd love if CF tried RMC. They could put some serious cash into one of those things, and it's hard to imagine what would result from it.
  15. Nitro, last train of today. I got in line right around dusk and got some really great views of the coaster
  16. Went today El Toro's crew was ridiculous. The entrance person said to expect an 80 minute wait with the line filling up the entire queue up to the station but we waited no more than 30 minutes. Incredible, I wish they always ran their coasters like this! Kingda Ka was only running 2 trains today, but for whatever reason all 4 trains were there. Usually one of them is just not there, but it was sitting on the storage track today. Waited 2.5 hours but I was not about to leave without doing it. Today I had one of the best rides I've ever had on it, it was after a breakdown so the launch was ridiculous, more than usual. Nitro was running a bit sluggish on 2 of 3 trains for some reason. The line was really short and the crew was dispatching really quickly, not even saying the usual spiel but just dispatching the trains without saying anything. There was some ERT event tonight, and you needed a yellow wristband to attend. I asked the employees how to get one but they had no idea. I asked the people who had them but they just said someone gave it to them. Strange, but I was a little ticked off because I could have gotten like 10+ rides instead of just 2. So I finally got my phone repaired after not having one for a while, and I had lots of fun taking pictures and video of all the coasters there. It made the wait in line tolerable trying to get unique angles and closeups. I was a little paranoid of it slipping out of my pocket, especially on Nitro after Password121 told his story of losing his phone and the ride ops not being able to get it back. Overall, it was an OK visit. I was half-expecting it to be dead because of the rain, but it was crowded to my dismay. I wish I got to attend that ERT though...
  17. ^Wow, the Darien Lake version looks a lot nicer over the water than SFA's version. It's photogenic for sure
  18. I can say based on the outside perspective of an enthusiast that Intimidator 305... didn't go as planned to say the least. The whole wheel melting fiasco and the blackouts as well as the re-profiling and the redone restraints were all a bit unwarranted and caused them to spend an estimated $7 million extra on the coaster. I can't say for sure but I have a feeling this whole thing played a major role in influencing the other giga coaster on the North side of the border. I also think that I305 didn't really make attendance spike as much as they had hoped. Another reason Carowinds got the huge investment over KD (despite the location and government funding) is because one of the upper management workers (I believe it was the CEO or Rob Decker, or someone else high up) said that once they added Intimidator, they saw a massive spike in attendance and they decided to continue development in the area. That makes me think that I305 up north didn't have as much as an effect, otherwise we would have seen another large investment by now. Honestly, for once I have no idea what the future holds for this park, good or bad. But I think unless attendance increases by a lot they won't be seeing to many more extra-large coasters
  19. Am I missing something here? What exactly happened to that coaster? The theming on that coaster looks ridiculous just like the other Phantasialand coasters, I mean, the rockwork IS the support structure
  20. ^I think I'll cut in on youtube. This looks too funny to resist!
  21. ^It's been considered. Mitch released his formula for the poll, and we just need someone willing to compute all the statistics using that formula and make them into one spreadsheet.
  22. To anyone who went to the park yesterday, how are the crowds? I'm guessing non-existent because it's September but I wanted to be sure. I'm planning on going today and marathoning a couple coasters if it's dead
  23. ^My question is, why is Skyrush not in the top 5 and there are so many B&M hypers in the top 10? The Golden Ticket is comedic sometimes...
  24. ^I hope you're not talking about the Golden Ticket... because that poll is pretty much irrelevant. Every year either MF or Superman: The Ride (formerly Bizarro) is automatically #1 and there are way too many B&M hypers in the top 10. Mitch's poll is far superior but I don't think he does it anymore
