Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Coaster Hero replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I don't think the new color choices are on B&M's part, but rather the parks being more creative with the theme and color schemes of their rides nowadays. I like these new colors, they look really great and differentiate themselves from standard 1-tone track -

^Any info on what time the announcement is? My prediction is a slingshot, but we'll see. -

I just checked through the thread, and that track is MASSIVE, even compared to Mako's. Makes sense for the track to arrive right about now, as the announcement would have been today. This is going to be huge and very visible in the park. -

Still though, times have changed. Rarely do we see an announcement that late, with Tempesto being the obvious exception, and that was viewed as controversial so to speak. I honestly do not see the point of late announcements, they're supposed to be surprising but when you can see the entire layout it just isn't the same at all. -

I highly doubt they're doing it in December, when 3/4th of the whole thing is done. It's probably just a placeholder until they figure out a set date for the announcement. -
Maverick vs Millennium Force
Coaster Hero replied to ImNotOneOfYou's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^He's talking about the height and speed of MF and the quick transitions and low elevation of Maverick. But yeah, all 3 are completely different experiences -
I wasn't here during Zumanjaro's construction/speculation, but I did read through multiple pages of these forums yesterday out of boredom. The park was silent, but everybody knew what it was for the most part with certainty. This time we have a pretty good idea on what's coming, but the park isn't saying anything. I agree, I want some teasers!

Nitro at around 1 PM today -
Today Kingda Ka was broken down at opening and the line to enter the queue was manageable, but 30 minutes went by and nothing happened. Most people were going to Zumanjaro but I remained patient. 5 minutes later it opens and I almost walk on. Right after I got off the line was 30 mins. I agree with the above poster, patience indeed has it's perks

I had a blast even staying for a short time today. I got to the park at 9:40-ish, got my wristband and speedwalked over to El Toro. I got 1 ride in the very back, then got off to get back in the queue, and the line was only in the station so I got on after a 2 train wait. Sat in the second last car and got 2 rides without getting up, then I moved up 1 row for 4 total rides. It was a really fun event, and by the way I saw boldikus on 2 of my rides, first behind then in front of us. I wasn't 100% sure it was him but once I saw the photo he just posted I knew it. After that we ran over to Kingda Ka, which was having the usual Intamin fit so it didn't open for about 30 minutes. After that it was a station wait for the second row, and though it was much rougher than usual the launch we got was much faster than usual, and we flew over the crest. I actually blacked out right before the second airtime hill. Zumanjaro was right after that and it was a walk on. Awesome as usual. I walked over to Nitro and waited about 30 minutes for the back row of the C train, and though it has a bit of a rattle the airtime was much more intense than usual, that combined with my loose restraint made for me never being in my seat! I waited like an hour for Skyscreamer because I wanted to hit another flat before I left. All in all, great day at the park, with the ERT being the highlight. EDIT: I saw you too Password121

For me it depends on; A. How far I am in the line. If i'm right next to or in the station I'm always gonna wait, but if it's at the beginning I'll ditch. B. How long the line is. If it's excessively long to begin with, I don't bother waiting (depends on C though) C. What ride it is. If it's something good like El Toro or Kingda Ka, and it's my first time riding that day, I will literally wait no matter the circumstances. I once waited 5 hours for Kingda Ka in the most disastrous day I've ever seen in terms of operations.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Coaster Hero replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I've noticed this too; a select few of the GP is getting smarter. Like after getting off Hurler at KD I heard this woman behind me say "That was really rough. They should bring Rocky Mountain in and have them make it a steel coaster". I honestly wasn't sure if she was an enthusiast or just a really smart GP but that kind of knowledge is kinda impressive. Also on I305 the year before one of the guys in our car said to his friends "This coaster is like Maverick with the fast twists but bigger and badder". This is a good sign, people are smartening up! -

Another thing I'm surprised at is that the guy didn't see or hear the train which runs on track that amplifies sound because it's hollow; in other words, that thing roars. Reports say he was hit in the back of the head (ouch) and I really cannot see how the train "sneaked up on him like that" so to speak. Either way, a smartphone isn't worth losing your life. Apparently he either thought he could get away with it or he didn't care -

Or the lady that sued McDonalds for not having a hot label on coffee cups. Then there's somebody who sued a fast food place for only getting one napkin with their meal. The list just goes on and on. If people just used some common sense and follow the rules, there wouldn't be so many restrictions and dollars wasted on safety warnings everywhere. I swear if I see the whole McDonald Coffee Lawsuit mentioned as being frivolous I'm gonna flip a table. These are the facts about this case... Ms. Liebeck (the person who spilled the coffee) received 3rd-degree burns over 6% of her body mostly in inner thighs, butt and groin areas. She was forced to spend $20,000 for medical treatment and spent 8 Days in the hospital. McDonald's kept their coffee at well above a temperature that coffee would normally be served at. There had been 700 reports of people suffering burns from their coffee over the past 10 years due to it's high temperature as well as numerous lawsuits and did nothing about the issue. Additionally, Liebeck only ended up receiving less than $600,000 even though the jury initially awarded $2.7 million in damages. The New York Times did a really nice report about the whole situation. Watch it Here - Thank you for this. Hearing people always use this case when talking about lawsuits without actually checking the facts makes me want to *almost* punch a baby.
