Your spending limit will help out with what is best for you! Pretty much all laptops come with Wifi now, at least as an option. This will give you "mobile internet" when you are within a Wireless action point. (Home, School, Maybe Work, Starbucks, etc) If you want truly mobile internet everywhere, you will need a Cellular Modem Card like the Verizon Aircard (Sprint has one too i think) but they require a monthly fee. Also, Is size/weight an important factor? Or not so much? There are MANY different laptops available right now from little baby portable ones to the BEAST I'm typing this on (Dell XPS 3.4GHz Exteme Edition 2GB RAM $6300, thanks work!) For you, you'd probably just need something like a Pentium Centrino ~1.5GHz machine with 512MB of RAM. I'm a Dell fan, so from them an Inspiron 6000 would probably work out good for you at around $900. Keep in mind you don't need to get a Dell. I just happen to prefer them and haven't had any problems.. Regardless, the specs above will be fine for an internet/office machine with some limited gaming. If you want to start playing more 3d intensive games you will want to avoid anything with an "Intel" or "Integrated" Video card with shared memory. Look for Nvidia or ATI for that, but you will pay more...

TTD is now down as well... Coincidence?

I didn't break my wrists during our marathon day on KK for the Commercial shoot, but I did get a nasty case of Handlebar Palsy (aka Unlar Tunnel Syndrome) for my efforts. It is just healing up now, a month later... -
Unfortunatly (or fortunatly!) Spiderman is STILL the yardstick upon which Dark Rides are measured. FWIH DarKastle isn't as good (Ill find out in two weeks), leaving Spidey as most people's favorite. What IOA IS lacking is coasters, They have 3 Major coaster tracks and a nice selection of other rides (Bluto, JP, Dr. Doom, Spidey, DDR). I think a flyer/woodie/Intamin Hyper (for Elissa) would fill out the selection nicely. Plus you know any new ride that they put in would grab and hold the crowds. (Especially if they build a queue the size of DD) There were rumors a while back about balloons over the park. But since then Universal Management has claimed that they aren't building anything new. But what do we expect them to say? As for Mummy, I thought it was a great ride. I think USF just needs to be happy it got the "good version".

Gotcha! Being an engineer myself, you think I could have come up with that conclusion on my own! Anyway, Six Flags does have the fact it will be down today posted on their website and we were told earlier in the season that they will have a permanent "Operating Status" page eventually as well. I do hope that they make sure to put it up on the big sign above the "Toll plaza" where you pay to park, but knowing GAdv...who knows! What Six Flags only concerned about $$$? NEVAR!

GADVCentral has a good Summary of all the "rumors" going around of what happened. I am just glad to see that (most) people are pointing the finger at Intamin and NOT Six Flags. I just hope all is well and it is back up and running soon! Edit: Damn Robb, you just killed my post! (Yes I let it sit for 15 min, I'm at work!) Ok, not let me re-write now that I have re-read! Edit Again: I agree that some fault should lie on Intamin, but don't you think they would have figured something out by now with TTD's operation? If they knew the installation process was going to be rushed, maybe Intaimin should have just told SF that they would have to wait. Apparently, there were some advances in the launch technology (the shielding of the cable, etc) but I guess that wasn't enough.

Awesome! I'm kinda pissed I'll be in VA Beach for the weekend of the Garden State Brewers Guild Festival now! Well, there's always Split Rock... If you haven't been to a beer fest, you don't know what you are missing! -
Qbot was in full effect on Saturday. The Qbot line merges inside the loading side of the station, so it will still be a wait. On Saturday, even the Qbot line was overflowing!

Trust me, Don't worry about the brakes. And the "airtime" hill has PLENTY of it!
-
They had this problem yesterday a couple of times. Sometimes it appears that the train doesn't get into position correctly in the launch area and it needs to be manually moved back to the pre-launch area and then back into place on the launch track. Also, the kicker wheel nearest to the launch was having traction problems (most likely due to the water spray from the recoil wheel) Yesterday, however, it was fixed within 10 minutes.

As GACoaster said, KK is Amazing. Went right to my #1. I got to ride 55.5 times over the last two days, and let me tell you, the front is the absolute best row to ride! Smooth and Insane! And for those of you that thought the brakes would kill the airtime? No way! Plenty of air on both the tophat and the hill! And btw - Best ride of the day was my last. Front Row Rollback! It was the only one of the entire shoot! (besides testing)

My Yesterday was long, but awesome! Today, More of the same, concluding with Ep. 3 @ 12:02am...

Yeah, only since 1979. They are newcomers at this whole "roller coaster" thing [/url]

From the first page: The Rental fees are non-refundable.

That would be cool to become a "recognized" club so that the membership could possibly honored at events like Dorney's Coaster Madness coming up. All it would really take would be printing up some nice TPR cards and giving us member numbers!

So how many people out there are ACEer's?
stew560 replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
On and off and back on again ACE'r here. This year the prospect of KK got me to re-up. Plus I may be going to PKI and attending a few events this year so that helps too. And I love the magazine and newsletter too! -

Heh...don't call KK a clone over on the GAdv boards... the kiddies will freak! IMO, it's a clone+. Does this upset me at my home park? (Home of 5 major rides that are practically clones or have been cloned? GASM, B:TR, Medusa, S:UF, KK) Not at all. I more than welcome it! GAdv is a very spoiled park (in relation to coasters at least) and though not cheap, I am sure KK did offer sigifigant savings over a custom designed rocket. Plus it saves me the 10 hour drive to Ohio... You want more copies of S:UF? Please pray for a better layout before you do that! The pretzel loop rules, but the rest...heheh...drools...heheh... At least SFOG's uses the terrain, Not much GAdv's parking lot could do for that... -
Not just the Regular ears...but the Wedding Ears! We also had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. My wife is a big Cinderella Fan she absolutely loved it. (The Steak was good too!) !!!!!WARNING CHEESE ALERT!!!!! After dinner, we went over to Cinderella's Wishing Well on the East side of the Castle and I had Shelly close her eyes and make a wish. She did, and when she opened them, I was down on one knee, and asked her to marry me. That really made for a romantic evening!
