  1. The important part of that story which they don't tell you about until the very end, is they told him to leave after he didn't pay for parking (which he says an employee told him to enter, but who knows, sounds like a lie), but he didn't take them seriously, decided to ignore them, and tried to enter the park anyway. That's when he was given his lifetime ban. Harsh. But they gotta make examples out of some folks, I suppose. Six Flags sure doesn't care about running rides at full capacity, or nickel and diming you, or punishing people who cut in lines, but I'll be damned if they don't try their darnedest to keep people in the park safe, and keep people who might be a liability out of the parks.
  2. Would anyone have a clue as to why I can't see any of the photos? The videos are showing just fine, but as far as for the pics all it's showing for me is "ImageImage - *Insert caption here*"
  3. Ugh! I absolutely love the Twilight Zone aspect of the Tower of Terror. I would much rather prefer they just call the ride "Tower of Terror" and drop the "Twilight Zone" stuff, change it up ever so slightly, then call it a day. It's not like the thing isn't already popular or not have lines the way it is. Not only that, I thought Guardians of the Galaxy really was a lousy overrated flick. I get it, they could market it and make it popular, doesn't mean it'll be any good. There really ISN'T that much "Twilight" stuff in the ride anyway. From what I recall in the Disneyland version there is the opening video, the voice during the ride, and that's pretty much it. Unless I'm missing something? The rest of the ride and theming is pretty generic "hotel ride" type stuff. Why does it seem some of my absolute favorite things of so many parks have to go away or be changed.
  4. When I went last Sunday I watched it a couple times, it was 1 tower "section" from the brakes. I agree that doing the X2, Tatsu, then Superman loop first is probably the best way to get them out of the way. Maybe get on Ninja after Superman while you're on the hill. I usually keep Full Throttle for the last ride of the night, because the line is typically an hour all day. TC if it's inside the entrance, is about 30-45 mins. Single rider line on Lex and Riddlers! The rest is typically manageable, except for Goliath which I pretty much skip every time, not worth waiting more than 15 minutes for that one as far as I'm concerned.
  5. From the POV's I've seen of the clone of this coaster, it actually looks to be quite a lot of fun. Not the "rather crappy coaster" you'd think it is from what I can tell.
  6. I didn't even know quicktime still existed. That thing was always a piece of garbage.
  7. This is a great thread! What I think is funny is from some of the videos, Mako already sounds to have the B&M rattle, and it's not even open yet!
  8. I would say if you've never been to Disneyland or DCA skip Knott's. If you're over those 2 parks, then Knott's will be a nice easy day that you'll be bored of after a couple hours. Is there any way you can get up to MM (about an hour away)? I'd say if you have the opportunity to get up there for 5 hours on a Tuesday you'll have a better time than Knott's. These delays are really making me curious to know what's taking so darn long with Ghostrider. And with a date like Mid-June, it seems like they're not even sure when it's going to be ready to go. It seems like a pretty basic improvement and upgrade. Perhaps the new trains have something to do with it? Also strange how parts of the track still don't have the metal tracking installed. With so little information it's hard to tell. I'm glad they're doing this improvement, but it's also strange to see this kind of vagueness from a park owned by Cedar Fair.
  9. Well, Viper is an Arrow... I rode it on Sunday, and while it's not butter smooth like a B&M it was riding absolutely wonderfully. Holy crap it hauls through the first half with no mercy. That back seat is the best one on the ride IMO. I am very happy with how SFMM has maintained the ride, and while it has its jerks and issues based off 1990 Arrow track technology, I really don't see any reason to touch it. As far as I'm concerned the ride has at-least another decade of operating just how it is. I think the only way to improve it would be with the restraints. They're so awkward and odd. It is still a very intense fast ride, on par with Batman I think as far as overall ride experience. Apocalypse was super clanky. I would say it's fair to announce the ride is pretty rough (this coming from a veteran rider), although I'm not sure there's a whole lot the park can do about it. I think going with GCI was a mistake on the part of the park. While the price tag may have been cheap off the bat, this ride has no doubt become the Psyclone of the back corner again. Not as bad, but I can see it getting there down the line. The trains seem way too heavy. Also not sure what's going on with the wood back there, but it basically looks bleached as it has turned WHITE. I barely recognized it walking down the hill towards it. In fact it looks like they've coated it with some wood treatment formula, because up close, parts of the wood are GREEN. Moderate new wood repair around the ride is obvious, but what a headache the ride must be to maintain. Riddlers runs very much the same (it's always rattled, had a roar, been a little rough), Batman is amazingly smooth and very fast, Scream was a lot of fun. It seems to me the B&M's at the park have held up well, and I have nothing but high accolades on their part. I love Lex Luther and the single rider line. Superman seemed to be back to flying high, about a section from the brakes. Full Throttle really gets people walking up the hill to Samurai Summit as it hits the very loud audio track in the tunnel. It's really too bad they didn't do more with this ride as there's an obvious lag between when the ride ends, and the dispatch launch of the next train. I really think another 1000 feet of helixes and maneuvering would have made it remarkable. The crew at TC was really doing a stand up job of hustling around the station to line up trains. Believe it or not, ride ops were actually jogging back to their positions to dispatch trains. As far as actually racing, the computer sensors and lift speed mechanisms are no doubt at fault for failing to have the ride race consistently! Boo on Six Flags for budgeting what is one of the greatest parts of the ride. On Sunday, the train came back into the station chanting "One more time!" after 8pm, and they actually let us ride again! It was great because it was a quick restraint check, then dispatch, and we lined up perfectly to race. You can really tell that guests riding Twisted Colossus love dueling, because people wave and say hi and it really is a moment on a ride you don't get to experience very often at theme parks anymore. Kudos to the Twisted Colossus staff that night!
  10. Nothing like stacking 2 train operation and sending one train out empty...oh Six Flags...
  11. Anyone at the park today? Thinking about making the trip for a couple hours...looks like I could be there at 5. Just wanna ride Rev and Twisted, maybe some extras if it works out. Just wondering if the parks busy?
  12. Budget IMO is not an issue. And well...unfortunately my folks are a little bit older, so yes, they might like to go back to their room during the day. I would at least like them to be able to if they want to. Meanwhile, if they do, me and my brother will probably go run around the park and do what we want. I am probably just going to accommodate them and make up the difference cost wise. I don't care, this is probably never going to happen again. My moms biggest gripe is that there's "No breakfast?" included if you stay at Breakers. Is that true? I told her I'd go get her some bagels and make her coffee if it allows us a early entry hour into the park! lol. "Suck it up ma!"
  13. Going May 16th, the first Monday of the season! So suddenly after the rest of the family heard me and my brother were going to Cedar Point, it now has turned into a family trip with me, my brother, my mom and dad, my uncle and aunt! Can you believe it?! I'm gonna make them ride coasters until they throw up! I never thought this would happen so it's gonna be a lot of fun! We are talking about staying at Breakers even though it's $200 a night and we're only visiting for 1 day, but will be staying 2 nights. We would be staying overnight on Sunday, going to the park on Monday, staying overnight on Monday, then stopping at the airport on the way back to get a flight for California! Do they still do the "get into the park an hour earlier" on Mondays if you stay at Breakers? Because to me, that hands down makes it worth staying there. However with my many years of practical park knowledge I am assuming the park is going to be remarkably empty, seeing as how it's not opening weekend, and it's a Monday, and it's the first of the season. Do you guys think it's still worth it to get in an hour earlier? Or will we be fine if we stay off the premises and get there at opening? SO STOKED TO GET ON VALVERONONENOMENSOSKOSKIGLOP!!!!
  14. Just rode Batman at Magic Mountain on Sunday, it's 22 years old and is running just as well as I remember it the first time I got on it.
  15. If I had to choose one, it would be HHN. The quality of the mazes, costumes, and scares are above and beyond what Knott's provides. Like, the monsters ACTUALLY scare you. There is A TON of nostalgia regarding Knott's and its Haunt, which is why it undoubtedly gets the nod among a majority of enthusiasts, but to be honest, I went last year, and don't remember jumping from being legitimately scared once. The past couple years at HHN, I was legitimately thrown off and scared several times through the night, and to me that really adds to the experience. HHN feels like you're going through complicated made movie sets, while Knott's mazes feel like you're going through something at a home in the neighborhood that a bunch of teenagers put together (not quite to that extent, just exaggerating to kinda make my point). Fright Fest is kinda sad.
  16. I don't know what he's talking about. Besides the final helix, Silver Bullet is pretty tame and has been since day 1.
  17. I highly doubt the park will allow Mako to run this way with the general public on board. If they do, it's an absolute blessing from the coaster gods! It would also be remarkable if B&M was sick and tired of seeing RMC and Intamin let their coasters run hog wild, and decided it was time to man-up to the challenge for their coasters to be ran all out as well. No doubt many B&M coaster would have higher ratings if they laid off the trims and MCBR's and just let the rides run without the ridiculous controls on pacing.
  18. Dude, I'm all for old nostalgic rides, but Windjammer was boring, painful, and a terrible coaster, even when I was 10 years old. How TOGO swindled Knott's into investing in this type of crap ride is beyond me. I mean, who puts a flat turn and brake run after the loop of a ride? The racing aspect was barely cool when it worked, and overall the ride was garbage. It was like a wild mouse with a loop. And then after a couple years they didn't even race them anymore. I'm not FOR old coaster companies going out of business, but holy crap it's a blessing that TOGO is gone because all I've ever seen or ridden from TOGO was badly designed boring rides that would never be able to stand the test of time like B&M, Intamin, or RMC.
  19. How long are people going to complain about B&M rides with no airtime? It's been like 2 decades now. When it comes to any type of "airtime hills" they're over-designed barely floater elements. Give it up! Freedom by Rage Against the Machine is my vote for a track.
  20. We all talk about having the last ride of the night on a certain coaster when it comes to theme parks, but as for waterslides at Wild Rivers back in the day, the Abyss was the best last ride of the day to go on. A great finale to a day at the park.
  21. Quick question...Immediately I noticed these extra supports on Kingda Ka behind the tower. They look pretty substantial. Did anyone else see this? Were these put in after the drop towers were installed? IMO very strange to see an addition like this with a ride that was installed almost a decade ago.
  22. I'm only going for 1 day, and that day is Monday May 16th! I am so stoked, and I'm hoping a Monday will be less busy! $45 tickets online for admission is a steal! However for $115 you can get Admission AND Fast Lane Plus which I am considering but really it depends if the park is going to be super busy? Anybody have an idea of what the crowds might be like? I have a hunch it won't be bad, but who knows. Whenever I've gone to this park it's been super packed. I only ask because the $115 Fast Lane deal is online ONLY so I'd have to buy them before we got to the park. I'm thinking about just playing it safe and buying it no matter what. I only get to visit the park about every 5 years so I like to take as much advantage of all the rides as I can when I'm there. Valvereenomenonassticali here I come!
  23. I would love to ride Goliath without the MCBR. Obviously, I've never ridden a hypercoaster before. Congrats CP Thread on 3000 pages!!!
