I wish I had taken some pictures of the trains....

Ah, so Voyage has a wasp problem too? Man, that really sucks. I've seen SheiKra do the same thing, and heard the same about other rides. There, they were muddaubbers though. Scary looking, but harmless.

Ah, so it's not until November then. That makes more sense. I was looking all over the place. Still, I would think they could be out sooner. Do we not already know which coasters will be on the list?

I realize this isn't something that's personally y'all's. But I just have a couple of quick questions for somebody. The thread can be closed afterward. 1) When will the 2006 ballots be available? 2) How can I get one? Thanks. And sorry for the obvious question. I wouldn't have asked it here if I had been able to otherwise find the answers.

Gah, the path to Gotham at SFoG was way much for me and my Floridian feet and their lack of experience with drastic elevation change.

Best Kiddie coaster ever
Three replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was gonna say SFOG's canyon blaster. It's bigger than most kiddie rides, and the first drop actually took me by surprise. But yeah, Pteranadon Flyers is pretty slick too. -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

No, realistically less than 1% of theme park attendees would know what "B&M" referred to in the first place. But the point is, B&M essentially makes the most GP-popular coasters out there. Are there exceptions? Sure. But I still think CF should turn to 'em for their next project. It's just the sort of thing the park needs. More like Silver Bullet? More like Nemesis? I doubt it would even really matter all that much. -
Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Sorry to be the voice of reason, but re: Valleyfair! Coaster enthusiasts may (or may not) as a group prefer a ride like this be in store for the park. But as far as the general public goes, few rides please the crowds as well as a good beemer. An invert or a floorless would definitely impress the locals. Don't let your jaded enthusiast goggles convince you otherwise. -
Especially in the rain.

Isn't Alton Towers a bit too big? Never been there, but from what I hear the whole park is way spread out. Not that it doesn't have good reasons. A castle on grounds, for one.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread

Depends where you live. In Florida, you might find a few people who know about Superman, but beyond that they've never heard of a flying coaster. Most people don't really think about these things. They just hear about things third hand, and might only recollect a little. So for people who live near a park, that's the most famous coaster of whatever type you're looking at. Most probably don't even think that other parks might have 'em too. And if it's a type that's not found very near where you live (like my Superman example. Or to me more extreme, Floridian knowledge of 4D coasters) -- you might find a few who know about it. But they couldn't tell you much of anything in detail. And most just wouldn't know what the hell you were talking about. -

Tatsu Lift hill scares the ##$%#% out of me
Three replied to SpectralN's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's scary, but it's not something you should realistically worry about. B&M is probably the very last roller coaster manufacturer you need to worry about when it comes to your safety. Seriously, does anybody out there have nearly the track record they do? No pun intended.... -
Another "if you felt this way" topic...

This question wouldn't be all that different if "enthusiast" were replaced with "adult". And you'd have the same ambiguous "yes... and no..." answers. -
Coasters you have been on that are gone now
Three replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thats how i used to count credits, but i changed my mind since most of the time every installation has its own small differences. Good idea thow, not counting clones. I still keep a count of the lay-outs but i focus on the "different installations" count. Maybe we should have a "how do you count" topic? Anyways sorry for the off-topic here. In my view, steel clones are all the same. Sure, there are minor variations, but the differences are fair more subtle and not really worth mentioning. For woodies, the way they're built, you'll have far more variability among rides with the same layout. None of the numerous cyclone homages are exact "clones" per say. They're just a collection of homages to a prototype by a bunch of different designers. Woodies don't really come off an assembly line like steel coasters (sorta) do. So I would count Psyclone and the Georgia Cyclone as two entirely different credits. Whereas two Batman: The Rides are just one credit. Your mileage my vary. But that way just makes sense to me. -

My first will be Python. Allegedly. As for how I count credits, I actually prefer not to count clones at all. That's how I get around the whole relocation issue. If it's the exact same layout as something I've already ridden, it doesn't count. Unless it runs backwards or indoors. So the count in my sig is somewhat misleading. I actually only count 82 normally. But then, what are retarded internet bragging rights for? -
It is one thing to kill a creature humanely for food purposes, or to conduct research which might eventually benefit our knowledge of medicine or psychology. It's another thing entirely to kill a creature cruelly for shock value and entertainment purposes. And yeah, cockroaches too (as much as I hate 'em). It is indeed a slippery slope between roaches and rats and cats and such. Where do you draw the lines?
-
Man, do glasses policies like that piss me off. The inconsistancies are very frustrating. Get some straps. Nerdy, yes. But they're cheap and they generally let you on with them.
-
BGA. Then SFOG. When I hit Alton Towers, I expect it'd go right between those.

Underrated = underridden = underutilization of the property it takes up. I understand why they're getting ripped out. They can certainly use the space for something that would attract more guests. It makes sense financially. Sure, it's a shame. The old freefalls are fun as hell. But it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone why they're being replaced. I'm just glad I managed to ride one while there are still some around.

Did they get rid of the Kraken head? I totally don't remember that compass wall debris laying there.
