  1. How cool would this be? A video game park would be the greatest. And who could pull it off better than Nintendo? - A Mario tubes water slide - Mario Karts - A StarFox flying coaster - Metroid: 4D? And of course, character greetings with your favorite Nintendo mascots. Seriously, this needs to be done.

Right, the Darkastle ride. From the info I've seen on it, everyone's talking about it like it's going to be the most innovative thing ever. But it sounds more or less identical to Spiderman to me (minus the theme, natch). It's even got the drop part, apparently. What's so innovative about it exactly? I'd much prefer they got a new coaster. Since they tore out DrachenFire and lost the Wild Maus to BGTB, that gives BGW four compared to BGTB's eight this year. I remember being jealous that Williamsburg seemed to be getting all the better stuff. Now I'm wondering how I ever got such a silly notion in my head. Ah well. Four more credits is better than nothing.

Okay, I'm changing my plans. Friday it is (I knew that was a stupid idea...) Besides the coasters, can anybody give me some must sees and must dos there? Escape from Pompeii looks suspiciously like Journey to Atlantis to me, but I'm assuming it's just a flume ride as RCDB doesn't count it. Anything I should go out of my way to check out there?
  4. You can't go wrong with EPCOT's world showcase. Fish and Chips at England, sushi/sashimi at Japan, drinks with tapioca beads (better than it sounds) in China... awesome, awesome, awesome stuff. I'm headed there in May. What food would you recommend? Keep in mind, I'm about six months shy of the drinking age ( ).
  5. Well there are always taxis and stuff like that... I've been meaning to check out the DBH for a while now. I'm at college in Miami, and I'd almost be willing to offer a ride. Unfortunately, that's my spring break too, so I'm not gonna be around :-/ Sorry man.
  6. Hmm.. I'll put it on my "Next time I'm in Canada" to-do list, along with: -stock up on Ketchup-flavored potato chips and -go moose tipping. The idea of a powered coaster isn't a bad one at all, but those Zamperlas just kinda sour me to the whole concept. Makes you wonder if people would count powered coasters as credits if they were all hella-awesome
  7. Yeah, IoA is an absolute must. Great coasters, great theming... just one of the best parks around. Anywhere. Busch Gardens has more coasters (too bad you won't be around for SheiKra). The theming is pretty good too. And I would make it a point to go to SeaWorld. Kraken is my favorite coaster in the area (if you couldn't tell). And there's always plenty to do at Sea World.
  8. Which Gatorland are you looking at? There are two. The one in Kissimmee is pretty cool. Tons of alligators and crocodiles, some cool shows, and some damn tasty gator ribs and fried gator fingers . No coasters or anything, but it's interesting enough. Gatorland in Lakeland is, for lack of a better term, "teh suck". Don't go. If you're going to Busch Gardens (which you really, really should), I wouldn't bother with either Gatorland. Unless you've got an alligator fetish or something. As for Cypress Gardens, unless you're a credit whore, it's probably not worth it. That money would be better spent elsewhere. IMHO.
  9. I didn't know there was such a thing until visiting this site. Now, I'm extremly curious about them. I've never ridden one before, but now that I think back on it, I might recall seeing one. Pretty much every picture I've seen of a powered coaster is of the Dragon things that everyone seems to have. Are all powered coasters like this? Pre-fabricated, lame-o kiddie rides? Is there such thing as a good powered coaster? Passing no judgement on whether or not they count as "roller coasters", are any of them actually fun? Please, more information! Feed me more! MORE!
  10. Crazy Flying Coaster. Actually, most anything at Janfusun Fancyworld. That place is
  11. Where are you flying in, the Miami airport or Ft. Lauderdale? Either way, you might be able to take the Tri-Rail there, or at least closer to where you need to be. For the most part, the Tri-rail runs right along I-95, which Boomers is right off of (the coaster is practically right next to the interstate). For less than 5 bucks a person (depending), you can take the rail from either airport. Might work, depending on where the stops are. *looks into the matter further* edit: the closest stations are Sheridan Street and the Ft. Lauderdale station, each about 1.5 or 2 miles away. There are buses and cabs from each. Might work, might not. *shrugs*
  12. Jeez, I can almost smell the bakery... Now I want my annual passes back....
  13. I'll agree with the previous poster -- it depends on the kid. If you're brother says he'll ride something, but then freezes up, it sounds to me like he needs some good old fashioned forcing. This got me on Tower of Terror when I was in third grade, and I didn't want to ride that at all. What you do is say to the kid in advanced: "Are you going to ride the coasters this time?" "Uh huh" "Good. Because we're going to make you. Before the day is out, you will have ridden something." And then follow through. Walk him through the line. And be a cheerleader; those of us former chickens know what it's like to face our fears and ride our first. Be supportive, but don't back down. This should work, unless your brother is a stalagmite or something.

Hey, first time poster, n00b, etc. -- apologies in advanced. I was wondering if you could tell me what to expect crowd-wise at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in May. My current plans would put me there on a Saturday -- something I'm very worried about. Should I drop everything and shift my vacation back a day and go there on a Friday? Are crowds in Williamsburg that thick this time of year? Dumb question, I know, but I'd rather be stupid here for free than stupid at BGW and out $50+. Thanks for any input.
