  1. ^That sounds like my kind of trip! Sundays really vary. They are much better than Saturdays, which are almost always crowded. If you go on a Sunday before summer (and not during Spring Break) it will not be too busy. In the summer, it will be busier, but still much better than Saturday. Just be aware of events at the park because the park lines events up for Sundays that can really attract a crowd. Military Appreciation Day last year was awful. Weekdays in the summer are definitely the best time to go, and I've had the best luck on Tuesdays. If you don't want to take off work, a Sunday will be fine as long as it isn't during a major event/promotion. In case you want park tips... If you can get to the park 45 minutes before opening, that is best. The park usually opens Georgia Scorcher and Georgia Cyclone a half hour early. When the rope drops at opening up by Georgia Scorcher, proceed directly to Dare Devil Dive. Even on light days it can have a nearly 2 hour wait which will form within an hour of the park being open and it will stay like that all day. Keep in mind, Mind Bender may still be 1 train operation and it is a great ride so definitely go to Gotham City next as Batman can get quite a line as well. After that go to the back of the park and ride Superman because it too can get a really bad line with slow ops. You can ride Goliath at any time. The line usually shortens throughout the later part of the day and moves very quickly anyways. Don't miss out on Monster Mansion and Acrophobia. Both great rides. Dahlonega Mine Train and Joker Funhouse Coaster are both good too for family coasters. Joker Funhouse Coaster has surprising airtime in the back on the first drop.
  2. This is really awesome! Good job. I would definitely ride this as long as the forces wouldn't cause too much harm. I have yet to find a flat ride intense enough for me, although Top Scans come close!
  3. I'm curious if they're trying to get this one open for the start of the season because Superman's going to be ready. Staggering the openings is a little weird - I doubt the parks getting multiple flats will have staggered openings, even if one ride is ready before the others. Six Flags Over Georgia is opening Bung Bunny Boomtown on March 12th, but not opening the connected DC Super Friends until Memorial Day Weekend. Considering in SFNE's case, one thing is a renovation (similar to Bugs Bunny Boomtown) and one is a new attraction (similar to DC Super Friends area), I could easily see SFNE having Superman ready opening day and Fireball on Memorial Day Weekend, or at least sometime after opening day. I know the attractions are very different but the situation is similar. SFOG also did Batman Backwards beginning opening day, with their Larson Super Loop and Tilt-a-Whirl opening later in the season. I think staggering openings provides hype for the slower spring season, and additional hype for the summer season, which is the most vital season for most parks.
  4. This seems accurate. Although both Full Throttle and Twisted Colossus are high quality coasters IMO.. At least they no longer have a long-time SBNO Flashback to up their coaster count.
  5. I loved the intense laterals and I feel like wooden coasters with good laterals are hard to come by anymore, so I hope the new banking doesn't take away from that too much. My boyfriend didn't like The Legend that much with endless laterals but I thought that was what made it so great. I am still totally excited about the double down and tunnel though!
  6. In no particular order... Universal Studios Florida Islands of Adventure Disneyworld (all parks) Fun Spot America Busch Gardens Tampa Old Town Wild Adventures Alabama Splash Adventure SeaWorld Orlando Six Flags Over Georgia Carowinds Lake Winnie Dollywood Ghost Town in the Sky Family Kingdom Kentucky Kingdom Beech Bend Busch Gardens Williamsburg Kings Dominion Adventure Park USA Six Flags America Dutch Wonderland Dorney Park Clementon Park Six Flags Great Adventure Williams Grove Amusement Park Knoebels DelGrosso's Amusement Park Lakemont Park Idlewild Kennywood Conneaut Lake Park Waldameer Geauga Lake Cedar Point Stricker's Grove Kings Island Holiday World Six Flags St. Louis Six Flags Over Texas Kemah Boardwalk Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier Disneyland SeaWorld San Diego Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Gilroy Gardens California's Great America Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk I think that's everything. More parks than I realized... no wonder I have no money left.
  7. I agree. There are a handful of parks that are all water park with one wooden coaster and it seems to work for them. I still hope the park keeps the dry side and is just in the process of reorganizing it.
  8. I know Six Flags Over Georgia did one in the 80s and 90s for a few seasons, but that was probably shortly after Over Texas started doing their event.
  9. My co-worker hasn't gone to Six Flags Over Georgia because she thought it was identical to Six Flags St. Louis.
  10. Six Flags Gold Combo Pass & Gold Dining Pass (Over Georgia and White Water) Cedar Fair Platinum Pass Dollywood Season Pass I'm ready to hit some parks!
  11. Based on how this park's ride lines compare to their slide lines, I wouldn't be shocked if they tried to move away from the dry park all together or made it just a family park (I don't mean soon, but years down the road). I hope Arkansas Twister remains at the very least if that happened one day. It just seems weird that they are removing what are basically their only 2 thrilling flat rides (Well.. they still have The Hawk).
  12. Opening day used to be completely dead, with open seats on Goliath all day, but now that they open later in March and usually have events going on during the first few weekends, it is a bit busier but still barely any lines. Also, this season they are opening a week earlier than they did last season which can only help a bit. The park posted a video of the Bugs Bunny World demolition and sadly it looks like they removed the awesome character fountain which I was hoping they would just clean up and keep.
  13. I agree the purple is more exciting, but for some reason I really like the black. Both look great so honestly I don't care. I just want to finally visit this park next year and this addition definitely adds to their offerings.
  14. Very impressive pictures. Also, I've only seen and heard good things about working for Waldameer. I would love to be a marketing position for the park if it wasn't a 14 hour drive north for me. Ravine Flyer II is one of the most unique wooden coasters I've experienced and it certainly packs a punch.
  15. ^I agree it will most likely be a water park addition and it will probably go right in that spot since they expanded the water park out that way. I love the park but I will admit they have terribly awkward growing pains with the water park right now. The process of getting to the new slides is kind of ridiculous and the crossover with Thanksgiving is just so awkward. I know they have long term plans, I just am anxious to see how they remedy the cohesive flow of the park.
  16. I feel like Looney Tunes is a Six Flags staple and that they should keep the characters alive and well indefinitely. It's a timeless classic. I do not think they should invest tons of money towards the brand but having the characters in the park and playing the episodes in line really gives the parks more character and I'm all for small investments that keep the brand alive in the park. If they didn't have Looney Tunes the parks would be missing something and lose that slight Disney type vibe they get from having long term characters (I'm not saying Six Flags compares to Disney, but it's still a similar trait).
  17. "Hey, want to go to Kings Island? They have a bunch of roller coasters". ...That should do it.
  18. That is an amazing hike. It's definitely worth going all the way to the top of Mount LeConte but you really have to enjoy a moderately difficult hike. I agree Hwy 441 is gorgeous too.
  19. Superman UF is definitely tame other than the pretzel loop and the roll to some extent, but the one at SFOG is pleasant just because it is up on a hill and has really nice landscaping, low to the ground moments, and tunnels. The other installments that came later just sit in a field and it really makes a difference. The ride is definitely a crowd pleaser though. Anyways, doesn't matter since SFStL isn't getting one lol.
  20. I prefer force, but ideally I like fast and forceful of course. Skyrush > Fury Really tall/fast coasters that are tame really bum me out.
  21. Because GASM was awesome and Vekoma could make it smooth.
  22. If the timing is right on your drive from Dollywood to Atlanta, I would highly suggest checking out Lake Winnie for a few hours. It has a ton of vintage charm, a solid 1960s woodie, a ridiculously intense small wild mouse, a hand crafted boat chute ride built by the owner in the 1920s that dumps you right into the lake, and what I believe is the only Fly-o-Plane left which is extremely intense. I consider it the mini-Knoebels South honestly. Really cool small park. If you happen to be driving down to Atlanta during the day, it's right off of I-75 and only requires a few hours. Your trip sounds pretty great. If you want any SFOG info, I frequent the park so I can probably offer some advice. First word of advice is arrive well before opening (the front of the park opens half an hour early and you can ride Georgia Cyclone and Georgia Scorcher with no line) and when the park opens head straight to Dare Devil Dive. It's line is almost always pushing 2 hours without fail after the first 30 minutes of operation, all day everyday.
  23. This is EXACTLY what I would do, with the intention of making it profitable but that would take many years of good investments and probably some offerings that aren't normal amusement park offerings. Even if the park always operated at a slight loss, it wouldn't matter with that kind of money.
  24. There are tons of great food options, but for road food and things you will see signs for on the interstate, I would suggest: Chipotle Subway (I prefer Firehouse subs but I don't know how common they are and there are more Subways than McDonalds in the U.S. They are on every exit basically!) For fast food that isn't McDonalds I would suggest Cookout. It is extremely cheap and has traditional fast food options but with a very expansive menu and the quality is much higher than the average fast food joint. I have never had a bad experience with their food and you can't beat the price. Dunkin Donuts actually has some food options I really enjoy. Chick-Fil-A is always a great option too! High standard of service compared to most fast food. Skyline Chill is everywhere in Cincinnati including inside Kings Island. It's great for a more "cultural" option (for what little culture you will find in fast food haha) Steak n Shake is pretty good for a fast food diner. Waffle House is a fun fast food experience in my opinion. As for gas station snack stops, Wawa, Sheets, and even Racetrack have some awesome options for real food. Like I said, the options are endless but those come to mind.
